Access Institute For Psychological Services
Access Institute provides high-quality psychological care to people of all ages with the greatest need and least access to care while training the next generation of mental health professionals through a model that values human complexity, supports socially-conscious practice, and promotes sustained human growth.

We offer low and no-fee psychological services to those who want and need psychological support, but aren't able to access it for any number of reasons including: income, cultural barriers, stigma around mental health, and lack of mobility. We offer services to individuals, couples, children and families on a sliding scale basis.
Services
We provide 50-minute therapy sessions in our Hayes Valley Clinic, scheduled weekly or more frequently, as needed. Sliding-scale fees for individual and couples treatment are based on total household income. We work to ensure that your individual therapy is tailored to your needs. Depending on your situation, your treatment may be brief (fewer than 20 sessions) or longer-term.
If medication is an appropriate addition to your therapy, consultation with our staff psychiatrist can be arranged. We provide medication evaluations and follow-up consultation to adults ages 18 and up. For more information, or to schedule a telephone intake, call our intake line at (415) 861-5449 x380 (x324 for Spanish).
Finding answers to complex problems starts with an in-depth understanding of the underlying issues. Comprehensive psychological assessment and testing helps to clarify how psychological and brain-based factors such as memory, attention, perception, and emotion can affect learning, behavior, and one's capacities related to work, school and interpersonal relationships.
Through Access Institute's Assertive Social Assistance Program (ASAP), our Clinical Case Manager is here to provide information and referrals to help you navigate community resources. Clinical Case Management can assist you in accessing needed medical care, education, vocational services, housing, benefits, financial assistance, legal aid, and many other community services that support your well-being.
Commitment, care, and continuity - the three most important things we provide to children and families through our In-School Mental Health Program. Our In-School Mental Health Program takes our therapists out of our clinic to work with families in the communities where they live. By reaching families for whom coming to a clinic presents a barrier to treatment, we ensure that more children and families receive the benefits of mental health care.
