My approach is supportive and collaborative. I focus on developing strong relationships with clients, which provides a safe and trusting environment for us to identify, explore, address, and challenge your relational, behavioral and emotional goals. I believe that people possess the resources for living a happier life.
My role is to understand your unique needs, personalities and struggles in order to help you gain insight and make decisions that are more in line with who (and how) you hope to be. Services
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides mental health services to adolescents, adults (individuals and couples) in San Francisco. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Education. I taught 6-9th grade mathematics for six years in public and private schools.
I am considered an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans. So long as you have out-of-network coverage (which most PPO plans do), insurance will reimburse for a portion of the fee. Although I am out-of-network, I still "take insurance" in that I offer to file claims directly on your behalf.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process aimed at understanding the dynamics that underlay our thoughts and behaviors. It provides opportunities to gain a stronger sense of how past experiences and relationships have shaped our understanding of the world. In turn, we experience psychological and emotional growth, which frequently provides relief from current stressors in our lives.
Many psychological and emotional complications get played out in relationships. The way that we navigate and make sense of the world around us is interwoven in our sense of identity. It impacts how we assess ourselves and what we expect from others. I utilize a supportive and non-judgmental approach that prioritizes fostering a safe and secure relationship with my clients.
We frequently find ourselves engaging in self-defeating patterns or destructive relational cycles that leave us feeling unsatisfied. These complicated ways of engaging the world typically begin as solutions to challenging or traumatic circumstances. At times, what began as an effective coping strategy at an earlier stage of our lives is experienced as problematic in later stages.
