UPDATE: WE HAVE SUED THE MANAGEMENT TO NJ SMALL CLAIMS COURT TO GET OUR DEPOSIT BACK
The management office deducted over 70% of my security deposit upon moving out without giving any evidence of the damage they claimed we caused. When we said we were going to sue them to the NJ small claims court, they said they reviewed the paperwork again and looked through the other apartment’s photos and offered to give us an additional $400 back. This proves that they are just charging any amount they want and trying to squeeze as much money from us as possible. We did not accept it and will file a lawsuit

I would mostly rate this place a 3/5 for good value but the frontdesk has this strict rule that prevents you to get your packages on time which is very annoying from time to time. Besides, they could just tell you politely about the rules instead of being rude. To be fair, I have only experienced one frontdesk staff who works around noon and is rude others are fine and friendly.

I came with my partner to view available two bedroom apartments for our home and office, and the agent was an hour late to our appointment. We sat in the lobby the whole time, and they wouldn’t even let us use the bathroom. Once the agent actually arrived, his next appointment was already waiting along with us. He completely ignored us in favor of the next couple, as if we weren’t even there. When I spoke up and said, “Hey, we’ve been waiting an hour for our tour.”, he scoffed and dismissively waved his hand. I had never experienced anything as disgusting and unprofessional as that to

Note: Review based on current events of Journal Squared 2, hoping to help prospective tenants make an informed decision
Summary: Great location, good amenities, decent interior, horrible management
Detail: Tower 2 has ~700 apartments and I've been in one of them for five months since it opened. Following are the points I wish I knew when I signed the lease
Elevator: getting one is never a certainty, during peak hours it takes longer for me to get to the lobby from my apartment than it takes to get to downtown Manhattan. I've missed a few appointments because of this and now plan to leave 20

I really wanted to give this place more stars but unfortunately I am unable and I hope that if you are reading this review that you think twice before moving here.
So let’s start with the positives. Beautiful views! Beautiful apartments, pool and common areas. I also want to add that the concierge and maintenance people are great.
I would warn you about management. My hubby and I kept our place immaculate and took good care of it so when we moved out and did not receive our full deposit we were beyond shocked because we honestly took great care of the place. Apparently there was “floor damage”

Beautiful apartments with amazing views of the Hudson river and NYC. There were minor delays on package pickup and elevators at the beginning of move-in season, but the management team quickly worked things out. The management team is very efficient and responsible, really tries their best in satisfying the needs of residents. Special thanks to German from the maintenance department, K.J. from the leasing office and Belene from the concierge for all your help in finding my packages!

Horrible and Unprofessional Management system.... you have to wait for at least 15 mins for the elevator if you live on a higher floor, and you can expect not to be able to pick up packages from the front desk more than 4 days after the packages have been delivered. I am not gonna be specific with which staff has some serious attitude issues , but do expect an unpleasing communication/experience with the front desk staff, especially if you are trying to get you packages.
The idea of having the in-building dog run is nice, however, its maintenance is such a disappointment. I have reported to the

Terrible experience! Actual sqft is less than leasing office said. AC is loud enough to keep you awake 24/7, front desk do not accept packages and return without tenants’ approval, cuz there are too many of them?? What kind of excuse is this? Feels like third world country lol. This building has luxury common area but terrible apt designs, cheap w/d, locks, counters, etc. I do not recommend this place to anyone!

Lived here for 3 years and just moved out.
As other say, units are not very high quality. During our stay, our pocket door fell off, baseboards were warping, counters stain easily and paint easily comes off with any sort of tape.
Terms of the lease are pretty harsh along with the yearly rent increases (even during Covid times). Management is pretty corporate and will screw you out of any money they legally can... and given the quality of the units, you can bet they'll take a sizable chunk out of your deposit even for "normal wear and tear". I've lodged a complaint but looks

Cheaply made apartments, everything is stained and ruined easily from the floors to the windowsills to the cabinets and kitchen appliances. Absolutely nothing in the surrounding area - it's literally just a commuter hub with busses and the PATH. Unsafe area and not great to walk around at night. Lived here for two years and we've been dealing with loud construction that wakes us up every morning from day 1 - even though the leasing agent told us we wouldn't hear any construction. Useless having doormen as well and a mail room because they constantly refuse packages and make you wait

Wow. My leaving experience was absolutely appalling. A resident of 3.5yrs I had a reasonably good relationship with management, and concierge.
After I left, I received 5% of my security deposit back. I was charged for not polishing the bathroom faucet ($100), leaving lint in the dryer ($100), not polishing the microwave and the kitchen sink to new ($100), and repainting the apartment ($100). Apparently this constitutes damage beyond reasonable wear and tear, which is what is explicitly outlined in the lease agreement. I was charged an additional $525 for damaged floors which I had pointed out

The apartment itself is okay, the problem is the front desk staff and management, some are very nice and friendly and I appreciate it. But Rosemary(management) and Marc Green(front desk supervisor) will bully you if they dislike and will targeted you. I can't wait to move out! 3 Journal square apartment is much nicer because they have helpful front desk and friendly management! Rosemary will spy on what you are doing daily if she think you violated leasing policy. The weight limit per package is 50 lbs, Marc Greene will complain about your 35 lbs large package every time when you picked up

Management is not pleasant
We lived in another KRE building for 5 years and had such a better experience.
The only good thing about this building is the gym, pool when it's opened and the concierge team.
Apt is made very cheaply and we were recently charger for appliances in our security deposit in which there was no damage done to them. No explanations.
The area is also not up to par for the prices!!
My advice would be not to move in there

I'm writing this at 2:30 AM because there's an alarm sound every single day and night outside of my window, which they didn't tell me about. And also did nothing about when I notified them. KJ (the leasing agent) also told me there's "absolutely no construction" going on when in fact, there is. The construction workers are constantly making noise and it has been a huge disturbance. Neither Rosemary or KJ took responsibility and neither tried to help fix the situation.
When I applied for the lease application, Paul told me a price over the phone and then increased

They do not maintain this building well. At any given time most doors of entry to the lobby are broken ( today 3 out of 4 are broken). They have been broken for weeks.
Lots of dog poo and pee to navigate and they t do not maintain the walkway to the path ( kind of disgusting).
If you move here you are moving into a food desert. There are no good restaurants that deliver here ( unless you consider McDonalds and Taco Belle restaurants ). The neighborhood is quite sketchy as well. The gentrification of Journal Square is SLOW to

For what you pay and the area, not luxury, elevators are always broken or slow, cheap material and appliances, the pool is closed this year cuz construction of the new building, the staff is the best thing, but if u are looking for luxury this isn't, bedrooms can't fit a queen bed, barely, parking in the garage are small, so get ready to have your car damage, parking prices are expensive, if at least the spots were only bigger, too many Apts make the amenities not accessible all the time

I’ve lived here long enough to feel ready to review. Before living here, my husband and I lived in a JC Waterfront building, therefore this is not our first JC experience.
My experience with the leasing office was smooth and the agent listened to what we wanted. Our visit was pleasant and after a few days of communicating we found the perfect unit in terms of monthly rent, floor, floor plan, move in date, etc. All these questions were answered before the application process began, Scott was very helpful.
