Dr. Ohlen is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ohlen worked as a veterinarian in and around the Austin area for nine years before purchasing Highway 71 Veterinary Hospital from its previous owner in 2004. Dr. Ohlen enjoys the small town feel to her practice, while also being committed to providing the best quality medicine possible that you would expect to find in a big city.

I have been taking my Aussie there since he was a puppy. These folks have always been great with him. Extremely professional on all levels . Staff and Assistants. Vet is great with my My pet and are always just a call away if I have any questions concerning my Dog. I couldn't ask for a better place for my Kota... they Love him and treat him as if he is their own pet. Thank you guys for all you do. Kudos to you all there.

From the first moment I spoke with Stephanie at HWY 71, I felt at ease with the people I was leaving our FurFriend, Kane, with to be sent off and cremated. It was a difficult day, made so much easier by the professionalism and care I got when I met Dr. Ohlen and her staff! That's why when we rescued our next FurEver Friend, there was no other place that I felt I could ever take the ones who bring us so much joy!! Thank you everyone at Hwy. 71!!

Dr. Ohlen and staff are caring, treat each patient as if that animal was there own pet. Pricing for services are good. We have had many pets in 35 years and several different veterinarian offices depending on where we lived. Hwy 71 veterinarian has been our clinic for over ten years and this is the by far the BEST experience we have ever had with any clinic that we have used.😁

We've moved to Bastrop early 2003 and one of our concern is to find a clinic for our girl and right there and then we found Hway 71 Veterinary Hospital. Two years later we've added another member to our family. We were very satisfied with their service, very welcoming staff especially Dr. Ohlen. Leaving your fur babies in someone else's care is… concerning, but not when you board them to Hway 71 Vet Hosp. We loved the whole staff especially Dr.Ohlen. This will be our vet for life. They were great with our super dramatic Basset Hound and Dr. Ohlen put me at ease when our guy came back positive for heartworms. The… treatment as well as all the tests were very afforadable and believe me I have spent close to $600 plus at other vets in the past with other pets ~ Much love from the White family 💕
