Cute little shop of trinkets. I really wanted to like the pharmacy but my experience with them in just over a week has left me feeling disappointed and more than a little frustrated. Ten days ago on a Friday I called to ask if they could have all of my prescriptions transferred from CVS. the lady I spoke with asked me for my name, birthdate, and phone number. She told me she would call me back if there was a problem. The following Thursday CVS was still showing my prescriptions active with them. I called Star Pharmacy to see why. I’ve been waiting three weeks now for my prescription which is for diabetes, at first they said it would take a few days for my insurance to clear this specific script after a few days I called back and they said it would take another few days after a week I called back and they said they never even had all the information required as my doctor forgot to send it, I don’t understand why they didn’t realize this from the beginning or why they didn’t call me when they did. Star Pharmacy has all of conveniences you would expect to find in a pharmacy three times it's size. The only difference is the staff. Everyone that works here, from the pharmacists to the cashiers, are extremely helpful, extremely personable without

The BEST Pharmacy in Salinas, in my opinion. Fast efficient customer service. Friendly staff. And best of all, you don't pay any more money. In fact I just picked up some prescriptions from CVS and it cost more than I paid at star pharmacy. No long lines and they practically greet you at the door to serve you. Under new ownership and very happy to be a part of their business.

As soon as I walked into the store, someone immediately asked how I can b helped. And when he couldn't answer my question he introduced to Jondy. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I had previously visited a competitor who didn't know how to install a walker tray correctly. Jondy knew how to install it and how to use it. I will now start going to Star Pharmacy and refer my friends there.

Went in curious about a device and was assisted wonderfully by Mr. Ostarello, decided to come back later after pondering on other available devices. Returned about 2 days later to purchase the device. It was the worst experience, young lady was instructed to LIE, claiming not having the device. When I pointed out the device Russell Ostarello came storming out and confronted me with a VERY NASTY HOSTILE attitude for no apparent reason, I was confused. It is very unfortunate Mr. O interacted with a client/patient in such barbaric manner.

After having surgery to remove a large tumor from my leg, I found that I could not get around without great difficulty. I went to a competing pharmacy on a Saturday (before it closed at 1:00 pm) because I needed to rent a wheelchair. It advertises wheelchairs for rent. Hobbled painfully into the place and found out that the department that rents the wheelchairs was closed on weekends. Nowhere on the ads does it say that. Hobbled painfully back to the car on my walker and headed for Star Pharmacy and Gifts.

This place is a gem. They are a well-stocked pharmacy with lovely decor and a unique atmosphere. The best feature of all is their personal touch. They value their customers and are quite helpful. They have many medical supplies as well as their pharmacy. The selection of gifts is great, nice quality. The whole business is top-notch. I am impressed!

Star Pharmacy is a standing reminder that family businesses still exist. Russ & Janet Osterello are kind and helpful. The store is loaded with durable medical equipment and most things you would find in a pharmacy. More importantly the store carries a lot of local brands that you would have to drive all the way to Monterey to get. Example, one of my docs is never good about authorizing refills on time but since they know me, they always make sure I have meds until the refill order comes in from the doc.
I most refill via the web but even walking in with a new script might only mean 10-15 min wait and you can go over to Star Market and get some yogurt pretzels in the meantime.
This is not a big box retailer. They will get to know your name, they will keep in touch with your doctors, and they do have the knowledge about the things you
