Island Funeral Service is an independent, family owned funeral home that has been providing meaningful tributes and comfort to the families of Vashon Island since 1909. Because Island Funeral Service is family owned, we pass that advantage on to the families we serve. When a death occurs, there are numerous details requiring your attention.
When your loved one is entrusted to us, we coordinate all the arrangements from the time of death to final disposition, including necessary permits. We offer affordable cremations, burials, caskets, urns, markers, cemetery arrangements, pre-paid plans and military services at Tahoma National Cemetery.

Services
In 1909, the Garvin family opened Island Funeral Service and began serving the residents of Vashon Island. Their family continued serving the community until 1966 when Frank and June Harris purchased the funeral home. Frank and June built the current funeral home building in 1969. Ten years later, in 1979, Tim & Sue Wilcoxen moved to Vashon Island and became both owners of Island Funeral Service and active members of the community.
Her son Fred was at her side and she was surrounded by most of the weekend staff at Vashon Community Care, and her hospice caretakers. Joy was a person who sought to start things with a pattern of recruiting others to help. Her passion for activism came from her mother, a Kindergarten teacher whose students were racially and ethnically.
My wife, Kelley and I are active in several community organizations, Young Life, and Wabash Presbyterian Church. We consider our most important role as parents to introduce our children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. While we are Christians, we consider it a privilege to serve people of all faiths and backgrounds.
