I started at UYF years ago for the purpose of inner peace and holistic health. Ghylian and her amazing yoga staff are such wonderful beings! So polite, warm, welcoming and comforting. I started my journey as a NYC public school teacher and found myself longing for peace always, mainly because of the stresses that come with teaching. My program that I ran at the time had children from some difficult walks of life who needed UYF. They needed peace and having a yoga instructor work at my site from UYF was the best decision made. I love and cannot wait to start back again as grad school is now over

I almost don't want to share this because I want to keep this gem all to myself. I have been going to the Sunday donation classes with Brandee and they have been pure dopamine.
The studio is tiny but they have FREE mats, blocks, blankets, and everything else.
The energy in there is magical and restorative, so if you have bad juju, an attitude, murky karma or the like, come if you are ready to let all of that go, and turn yourself over to the wisdom and the care of this community. Otherwise, don't come at all.

I came today on a hunch because it is the last Sunday of the month, and the website mentioned that every last Sunday is a Gong Meditation. The energy in this sacred space is welcoming and familial. The Gong Meditation helped me to completely silence my mind and relax in preparation for the week ahead of me. I intend to be a regular; I have found the exact community space I've been looking for in Harlem.

Urban Yoga Foundation is an oasis in West Harlem. When you enter the space, you feel embraced- by beautiful people, inspiring art, and a sweet space for practicing yoga in community. Ghylian is a guru who offers health, wellness, nutrition and spiritual guidance in everyone who crosses her path, and all of the teachers lead with generosity and compassion. I feel renewed each time I take class here, and would recommend to anyone, any age, any experience.

Teachers share their knowledge with attention and generosity, allowing beginners and advanced practitioners alike a positive experience. The space is gorgeous, full of light and colorful art. When I stepped into Urban Yoga, the kindness from everyone was disarming. The classes were always just exactly what I needed. It became my sanctuary, my place of grounding, my home. During my 8 months there, I not only became more healthy in my body, but more importantly, my mind. Even though I live on the West Coast now, Urban Yoga will always have a special place in my heart, and it will be the first place I go back to, when I return to the city. The classes are great. The people are amazing. It's a great deal financially. Going to Urban Yoga regularly is one of the best things that I

From the moment I entered the studio I felt a sense of calm and relaxation. A connection with the beauty of life. Ghylian and her gifted staff of teachers know how to get even the most reluctant student (me) to feel comfortable enough to stretch my body and quiet my mind. It was like a mini vacation after which I felt peaceful and powerful. Thank you!

This yoga studio has such a unique, charming vibe. Set in a gorgeous Harlem brownstone, the studio is clean and calming and is fully equipped with mats, blocks, blankets, and everything else free to use. The class sizes are usually very small, so you can always get individualized help if you seek it. The instructors vary in the levels of difficulty of their classes, so you should try out a few different sessions to get a feeling for which instructor is your preferred style. The coolest part is having a class on the rooftop -- gorgeous views and an incredible experience.

My husband Michael and I had a couples Tai Yoga massage for our 18th Wedding Anniversary! It was fantabulous! Better than going to a huge spa complex as I have with Exhale. The location is wonderful - not too far from home. How can you get a message and then be jostled on the subway or bus? The surroundings were exquisite and peaceful. The experience was a personalized with a neighborhood, homey feel. The services providers were above accommodating - there was nothing we needed to ask for and service with a smile. I highly recommend you visit soon!

Just a quick update! Urban Yoga Foundation now has more amazing yoga teachers and classes! They're now offering restorative yoga, meditation classes, and even classes designed specifically for men! I recently had classes with Yana and Leslie. Both are fantastic and patient teachers. I feel fortunate to have this supportive yoga community in my 'hood.

I discovered the Urban Yoga Foundation via Groupon and I must say that it was the best one I have ever bought, and I will continue to pay full price to be able to practice yoga there. The yoga studio is set in a beautiful house on Strivers Row Harlem when I first arrived I was greeted by the founder Ms. Ghylian Bell and she offered me and my friend a cup of her blended tea which was absolutely delicious. Now to the yoga... I have practiced yoga at many places however this was the best place I have been to. The class can hold roughly 10 students which makes the setting intimate. Ghiylan taught
