Avenida Restaurant
We take our guests' and team members' safety very seriously. We are following the most updated CDC and county guidelines for food service health practices. Avenida Modern Filipino Restaurant and Bar was inspired by the dynamic lifestyle of Avenida Rizal, one of the main thoroughfares in the Old Manila during the pre and post World War II era.

It was named after the Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal. For decades, Avenida Rizal was a melting pot as well as the mecca for entertainment and dining in the Philippines. Being the center of Old Manila's social life, Avenida Rizal was also famous for its Art Deco as well as its theaters and opera house where performing arts lovers came to watch zarzuelas, vaudeville acts and stage plays.

Finally a Filipino restaurant around San Mateo. My wife and I had a great time eating here. Service was great and very friendly. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. Chicken Skewers tasted great! Pork Sisig Lunch was also delicious. Chop Suey also tasted great. We will the entire family next time. Salamat!!

1. Service was ok. Great presentation. Waitress was polite but not very attentive.
2. Food was ok, but not like many review said, amazing or stunning. The fried pork belly does taste good, but the pork knuckle was just mediocre, it was just like a regular German schweinshaxe. Nothing very impressive.
3. Their way of getting tips made me not comfortable at all. The pre calculated tip was based on price after tax and fees. The waitress would bring a tablet in front of you and look at you enter the number. I don’t have any privacy.

I had seen this place suggested on Yelp and was dying to try the crispy pata from the amazing-looking photos. We made a reservation for a Monday night - it wasn't super busy though and I imagine you wouldn't have a problem getting in on a calm weeknight without reservations.

Parking downtown can be tough, but on a Monday night we found parking right in front of the restaurant.

Service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered cocktails as the menu had unique choices that you don't find everywhere. I had the Pinoy Punch, which had rum, passion fruit, lime, and pineapple. It

Admittedly I haven't had too much Filipino food but from the dishes I've had in the past I was excited to try more. While there have been so many restaurants that have come and gone in this particular space, visiting Avenida was the first time I have stepped foot inside. I hope it is here to stay!

Getting a reservation was easy. I didn't see the time I wanted available online so I gave them a call and was able to reserve the right time. Service here was great and extremely quick. Not even 10 minutes after we placed our order literally all eight of our dishes came out in near unison

Decided to come here before my flight. It was around happy hour time, so it wasn't packed. I loved the interior the moment you walk in. Service was great and food wasn't that bad. I really enjoyed the mango juice as a beverage. For the table we ordered..

Lumpia: super crispy and went well with the sauce.
Crispy pork belly: super crunchy and one of my favs
Grilled octopus: I love this dish always.
Grilled pork skewers: a tradition that my friend eats.
Some sinigang: Perfect for the cold weather.

I recommend ordering the pitcher of the mojito. Yummm. I was happy before my flight

Love the food here and the friendly, fast service. Great introduction to Filipino food if you are a newbie. The atmosphere is likewise cozy and friendly. Budget friendly too, the meals we had were quite hearty for its price!

This is my second review of Avenida. Still awesome. We came when it just opened at noon (booked reservations on OpenTable). The servers are professional and courteous with a smile. It got busy fairly quickly yesterday (Tuesday 12/28/2021). Despite the rain and cold, people were sitting outside and inside just to have the delicious comfort food. We ordered the tried and true: beef salpicao, lumpia, liempo (grilled pork belly), and bowls of garlic rice. They are still all favorites. This time we added 3 new dishes: 1) Lechon Kawali (crispy pork belly), 2) chicken & pork adobo, 3) and Pork

Will definitely go back and try the other entrees. I did like the modern vibe which is missing in other Filipino restaurants. Plus it’s a good place to take and introduce people to Filipino cuisine.

Not sure if they were just short handed for Christmas, but we had to wait a long time for our food and our appetizer came after our main meal

Visiting from Las Vegas my uncle took me here. It's been a while since I had Filipino food so I was very impressed with the outcome of the food. Even though it was not a traditional Filipino style from your Lola's OR your mom's kitchen I was very impressed overall.

Everything was a modern take on Filipino dish. Kare Kare I could eat for days. However, I notice the peanut sauce was lighter in texture and taste. Traditionally, the Kare Kare is a bit thicker. However, I did not feel guilty eating so much of it with rice. Love the Oxtail! It was tender.

Crispy Pata Lechon pork was

If you come here for the first time, it's an exciting experience. Very interesting dishes and taste aren't bad at all. I'm my situation, I came 2 weeks in a row and started to notice something: The menu is small and the foods aren't as Impressive than the first time I came with many the same dishes we ordered a week ago because of lack of choices.
Grilled Squid - must try! So good!
Fried pork knuckles - must try!
The pork belly - It's more like roasted, fry or grill. I liked it personally.
Chicken skewers - Not bad.
Adobo Rice - Not crazy about it. I like Chinese or Japanese fried rice better

The restaurant has stylish interior design and clean toilets. Only one thing though,,, I hope the staff will not forget to chill all types of beers. But the staff were all gracious and the service and food were amazing😍

First time here & brought friends & my papa. Tried the food before as takeout though.
Really good !! Yummy foods! As a Filipina, I have to say it's authentic!
The crispy tadyang was hella soft & crispy! The caldereta was good with soft beef (not used to seeing it with cheese topping, but my mother assured me it's normal). The sizzling sisig was yum with the egg on top! The pancit bihon tasty enough. First time trying mushroom con ajillo: garlicy! the halo halo & Leche flan was great !
Looking forward to coming back. A bit expensive though.

Crispy pork is sooo awesome, highly recommend. It has a great amount.
However, the service is a little slow. Also it's better to reserve a table online in advance, otherwise you'll have to wait for more than 1 hour at a Sunday lunch time.

Once you get by the worthless hostess and answer all the dumb questions for 2 people to get in at 4pm when the restaurant is mostly empty, your adventure can begin. Don't not to let the bleach blonde rudeness throw you off. Once seated we had a great time. I believe our server was Jamie (m) or something with a J. He was knowledgeable and delightful. We ordered way too much and had goodies to take with. The Lumpia is a must, and the sauce delish. I wish they would thicken it up so it sticks on better, but the flavor was on point. Pork knuckle was great, and the chicken better than "Chicken Joy"

We had gone to the coast to be in the sun, and found thick fog. We went Duarte’s Tavern in Pescadero at about 6 on Friday evening, and we were disappointed to find they were closed. So, I remembered that I had heard that San Mateo had a lot of Filipino restaurants. I Yelped to find what got the highest ratings, and found Avenida. So, we decided to give it a try.
Remember it was Friday evening, and San Mateo was bustling! We easily found the restaurant and my partner dropped me off in front. Oops, we didn’t have reservations, and got on the list. It ended up being a long wait, but it was worth
