Barracuda Japanese Restaurant

The food here isn't bad at all but requiring all diners to be vaccinated is insane. I would understand if the establishment was in San Francisco but this is San Mateo county. No reason to force this on people. No thank you.

Yikes avoid this place if you can. Husband and I were waking around downtown and stopped by thinking it would be your standard basic Japanese fare. We were surprised by terrible service and food instead. We ordered relatively basic dishes, the chicken teriyaki and a few rolls to share.

Everything took agonizingly long, a large family seated nearby seemed to be getting special treatment because they were vocal and a little obnoxious and somehow this resulted in every other table getting lesser service. Even water refills took long, on multiple occasions we had to ask a few times for refills because

Whoever made my order was off by a lot. SMH. Ugh. Killed my appetite for the night.

I ordered a dragon and a barracuda. And they both came wrong.
I asked for sauce on the side. Didn't happen.
Was also missing black tobiko AND soft shell crab.

I asked for a dragon roll and it came with Tuna on top ( what!?!?)

Great place to eat. Incredible service and their fish belly cut with jalapeño on top of it is to die for. I come here quite often, not only because it's a great price but the quality is pretty impressive. Ambiance is a bit out dated and I would suggest they re-model a bit and modernize the inside of the restaurant. 4 stars just because I feel the ambiance of that place is a little dull and out dated.

Came here for mommy and daughter dinner. My 8-year-old loves this place because in her words "the food is delicious, everything is presented well and looks fancy, service is quick , they have kid's chopstick helpers and the sizzling chicken doesn't stop sizzling".

I will add that outdoor seating with plenty of heat lamps as the weather gets colder is a huge plus

I gave this place so many chances. I work near by and theres limited options for japanese food.
The portions are extremely small. I ordered multiple dishes from rolls, cooked to sashimi. Quality continues to go down and prices does not match. Please improve, I wont be returning.

Came here on a Saturday night, unfortunately there was no outdoor seating for two but we got sat inside right away. We ordered the nigiri combination, which was pretty good and two rolls which were also pretty yummy. All around a good spot to go to for sushi in Burlingame.

Off the main strip is a nice gem. Outdoor and inside eating. Fresh fish and very friendly staff. We had several rolls and the deluxe sashimi for 2. Of course we also had beers if you know me by know. Very clean and yes there is a bar inside. Had a great dinner and will go again. I say check it out.

Update: What I got last night (sukiyaki) vs another photo from their restaurant. Cannot stress enough that under those visible items was NOTHING but inches of broth -- maybe a small handful of noodles. Essentially a bowl of broth. This place used to be my fave, but let down a lot lately.

My favorite sushi place in the bay area by far! Casual vibe, incredible food, and every waitress or waiter I've had has been so knowledgeable and kind. I have only good things to say and wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars!

The Lychee martini is so good! What we order was so good very fresh.

Pretty decent Japanese restaurant. I liked the sushis and gyoza there. The baked sushi was really good. The staff was not as active and the ambiance is also a bit too dark. Overall an okayish place but good enough Japanese food so 5 stars for the food for sure

Seared salmon nigiri was good. Ramen was okay but have had better from food trucks. Recommend the ribs and soft shell crab. The Hamachi collar is always good. The tempura shrimp and vegetable are not out of the ordinary but still tasty like any other sushi place I've gone to. Make sure to order a side of rice tho. Rice on it's own was as decent as what can be made at home. Panang curry was decent but restaurants that serve only Thai do it better and not enough broth.

Service was horrible. They told my boyfriend and I to sit at a dirty table. The waiter came to clean it and left fish eggs everywhere. He gave wet napkins. He took a while for the waiter to take our order and then the waitress asked if we ordered yet. The food was good. The waitress told us she would get more napkins. Never got them. I had to ask three more times to get napkins. By this time we were almost done with food. We get the check and realized they charged us for a dinner and not the lunch. I told the waitress. She proceeded with. Well the menu prices are incorrect. I said. Well I scanned

We called at 6:45 and asked if we could make reservations and they could take us at 7pm! What a great last minute decision. There's was a long line of people picking up to go orders but only waited 5 mins before they took our name. There was a bit of confusion because hostess couldn't find our name on list but lady in the back said "yes! Table for 4!" Seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. This was our 1st time ordering from here and I must say we aren't planning on eating from here again! I checked in on Yelp and let them k ow that I had checked in and was told I'd receive a free soda.
When I went to pick up the order everything seemed ok until I arrived home and noticed that my teriyaki chicken from my dinner place wasn't there.

We tried this Sushi spot in Burlingame. We had the 49er roll, Power of love, and Best of the Best, Spicy Country. A good spot spot for Sushi.

Very good service. They come and help you at all times. The food was okay. The best thing was the Saba shioyaki for the bento box lunch. The Arnold Palmer I got was a unique flavor. The California roll didn’t have any taste so I added soy sauce and ginger. Overall, a relaxing place off the main strip of downtown Burlingame.
I used to live in Japan so my standards are higher as well.

We really enjoy the rolls we got lobster and the spider roll were amazing and fresh.
The young lady that took our order was really nice and patient my wife want a couple changes it made it little complicated. She got everything right. When we pick it up she was really nice to my son.

Great service. Superb outside dining setup with heat lamps(complete with shields) and affordable lunch specials with quality ingredients. The house sake is also quite pleasant.

Our waitress here was so awesome and accommodating. I wish I got her name but forgot to ask for it. She went through so much trouble to serve us through the rain and also let me order something that I didn't see on their menu anymore. She was also just so sweet and made the experience so worth it.
