Four Winds Cellars
Established in 2010, Four Winds Cellars has earned a reputation for being uncompromisingly unique in its endeavor to produce some of the finest, hand-crafted wines in the region. Unique not only in the quality of the vineyards sourced, but in securing and partnering with the winemaking services of John Gibson, a veteran Napa Valley winemaker whose credentials included 12 years with the renowned Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.

Over the years, John's skillful combination of Calaveras fruit with his own Napa style produced wines which consistently earned widespread acclaim throughout the industry. John, his wife Ann, the General Manager David Webster, and his wife Helen are all partners in the winery, utilizing their own talents and backgrounds to create something truly special in the Sierra Foothills.
Services
Four Winds Cellars sources fruit from the renowned Six Mile Vineyards. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills at an elevation of 1800 feet, the 100-acre vineyard boasts an impressive diversity in terrain and a total of 9 different estate varietals. Originally planted in 1989, the combination of climate and geography that the French call "terroir" has enabled the vineyards to produce outstanding wines of incredible quality and balance.
For nearly two decades John Gibson has created some of the most exciting and innovative wines this region has seen. A veteran winemaker with over thirty years experience in the Napa Valley, including twelve years at the renowned Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, John has combined his skillful use of Calaveras fruit with his own Napa style to produce wines which have earned widespread acclaim throughout the country.
The best way to enjoy all the wonderful things that Four Winds has to offer is to become a member of our Cellar Club. As a member, you will become part of the Four Winds family and enjoy preferred pricing on our wines and merchandise, along with numerous other benefits, privileges and invitations.
Visit us at our new tasting room location on Main Street Murphys, the first tasting room you hit as you come into town. Four Winds has the best wines and David makes the wine tasting fun and informative. This is a must stop for wine tasting in Murphys--we love the wines (and are always entertained by the wine maker)!

I ordered a case of wine during his whole Stay in place experience. The wine came next day, reasonably priced and excellent wine. We enjoyed immensely. Well worth doing business here. Every variety from Zinfandel to Sangiovese all the way to the Cabernets and Syrah were quality.

I love this place! I can't pick which wine I like best as all of them are great. My mom is a wine club member and every time we visit from out of town we make sure to stop by. The staff are always friendly, fun and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good wine!

I would give this a 5 star on the personality and atmosphere of the tasting room and hosts at the tasting room in downtown Murphy's. However, sorry - the wines we tasted were average to downright bad. Two of the reds, a Syrah mix and the other was a petite syrah, were undrinkable. It reminded me of boxed wine and unfortunately, yes I have had the misfortune of catching a whiff of Franzia at a crab feed once. Maybe my palate is just more developed than these other reviewers.

Fun stop here and the wines are mighty REAL....try the Cheeky, and get smart with everyone there. Really enjoyed the taste and dig the new merchandise in the tasting room.. the metal wine holders to hold one bottle of wine are very creative. I had to buy two as gifts for Christmas. Try all of their wines and find yourselves not wanting to leave. Try it!

This place is amazing. The wines are all great and the people behind the bar are so much fun. You should join the club as it is not that bad a price for great wine and great people!

Four Winds is excellent. We stumbled upon them when we saw a sign for them. I was very impressed. I am from New York City and during my trip I had visited Napa and Sonoma. I found their wines to be better than what I had tasted there. David, the owner, and Jessica, the hostess, are very personable. I highly recommend this place. I am going home tomorrow and have 5 bottles from Four Winds being shipped out.

Been a customer before they were even Four Winds (Laraine Winery) and met David early on.

He's such a great ambassador for his fantastic wines. We've long thought they make the best Chardonnay in the foothills and adding to Viognier gives them a really good white offering.

My favorite has always been the petite syrah - grabbed so more today!

We love to find these little wineries just off the beaten path. David is extremely personable and he let us taste every wine on the list. They have a couple of whites for drill and several reds that are all amazing and affordable. We bought some Barbara and Cab Franc and joined the wine club. Check it out!!!

Four Winds Cellars is somewhat off the beaten path in Calaveras County, but those that venture off Highway 4 heading to or from Murphys will be rewarded with a beautiful wine experience in a wonderful setting. The tasting room is located in an old farm house at the end of a rough and winding road, but it is paved. Once you see the wine barrels you have arrived.

David runs a nice tasting room with a great flight of wines. Most have the standard Calaveras taste, however he also has several unique blends which were a real treat. Some of my local friends really like this place too, which says a lot

My partner, Marc, and I have been members of Four Winds Cellars since the beginning. I'm in the wine industry and some think that it's absurd for me to remain a wine club member with wineries since most of them extend a inner-industry discount.

We couldn't give up our membership with Four Winds Cellars!

David, the consummate professional, humorist, conversationalist, and wine purveyor... and OWNER of Four Winds Cellars... hosts amazing events, pours GORGEOUS wines, and continues producing outstanding new releases every year. The tasting room is off the beaten path... but WELL

My wife and I were married at Four Winds (4WC) on 7/19. We found the winery a few months before and had joined the wine club and visited several times to enjoy a glass in the shade on their beautiful property.

First, a review of Four Winds as an event location:
Outstanding, and all of our guests agree. They are still raving about the ceremony and reception, both held at Four Winds - and while I wish we could take all the credit, it was David's communication, action, and stress-squashing good humor that helped move things along swimmingly. From the day we decided under the oak trees - all

We went to a wedding here. The wedding ceremony and reception were wonderful, probably because a family member married the couple and the reception was such a great party. It was at the end when it was time to clean up. This is when is met David one of the owners. He was so rude! I didn't feel the bride should be cleaning up afterwards so I asked him to tell me what needed to be done before we left. He stated " put it back how you found it" I explained I wasn't here in the beginning I'm not sure what it looked like. He then proceeded to tell me to " just go clean the
