I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy. I am getting training in Neurofeedback, and I have experience with Heart Rate Variability and Brain Entrainment. I occasionally use a Wii balance board to encourage and practice self-regulation of the central nervous system, and I have some training in music therapy.
I give out a lot of hand-outs, which my clients say is very helpful as a reminder of what we talked about and what they might want to experiment with on their own. I like to give my clients information about the mind-body-spirit connection, emotional intelligence, healthy boundaries, and communication skills.

Everyone struggles with something, and we can all use someone to talk to from time to time. But counseling is expensive, and not everyone needs a therapist to help them improve their mental or emotional well-being. When you need someone to talk to, but don't necessarily want to pay big bucks for individual counseling, consider joining a group, attending a mental/emotional wellness class, or try a mindfulness workshop.
Mindfulness has been shown to be very helpful in reducing anxiety, improving focus and memory, and a host of other benefits. This simple mindfulness exercise can be completed in less than 5 minutes, and should be practiced a couple times a day, when you are calm.
Then when you are struggling, your body will remember what the calm feels like, and when you focus on your breathing or your back, you will trigger that memory and help your physical self calm down. The more you practice, the easier it gets!

Why online counseling? It offers several advantages over traditional face-to-face therapy. You can communicate in the manner that is most comfortable and convenient for you: video chat or messaging. Free phone consultation to discuss the option that is best for you. Text counseling provides the ability to connect at any time: counseling is not limited to pre-scheduled sessions.
Every thought you think causes your brain to secrete a chemical that runs down into your body and lands on specific receptor sites floating on the surface of your cells. These chemicals are messengers that tell your cells how to behave. The body interprets the chemicals as feelings. Dr. Candace Pert, the neurobiologist who discovered the opiate receptors in the brain calls them the molecules of emotion.
Emotions = Energy in Motion. Unfortunately, we live in a society that demonizes emotions. Big boys/girls don't cry, never let 'em see you sweat, keep a stiff upper lip and other unhealthy messages are absorbed by our thirsty little minds before we have the mental or emotional framework to understand the consequences of obedience.
