We have been serving the greater Maricopa County area for 35 years. We are dedicated to helping our patients learn how to use their vision in a more meaningful way and be more successful in whatever they do. We see patients of all ages. We welcome families and dedicate a large part of our practice to vision care for children and infants.

We are adjunct faculty at colleges of optometry and usually have one or more student doctors in attendance. We diagnose and treat eye diseases in our office including macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic eye diseases.

Services
Over the years, Family Optometry has evolved into a diverse and dedicated team of professionals. Our doctors see patients of all ages including babies, children, geriatrics and patients that might need therapy. They practice with the same philosophy of care and take pride in being mentors for optometric interns and visiting optometrists.
We are a primary care optometry practice and we see everyone seeking vision care. We specialize in providing thorough vision evaluations, which are quite different from a regular eye exam you've had before. The evaluation we provide is important especially for children, children with special needs, and those that suffer from stroke or brain injury.
Vision Therapy is a curriculum of activities provided by optometrists to give patients the opportunity to develop visual skills they need for comfort and success. Each patient learns to use their visual abilities in new and more efficient ways through the use of lenses, prisms, and other instruments.
We provide a comprehensive no cost vision assessment for infants under twelve months of age regardless of a family's income or access to insurance. A comprehensive vision and eye health assessment is recommended for this age group to complement the pediatric vision screening during well-baby visits.
Children are usually born with fairly clear eyesight, but not vision. With vision, we understand what we see, where things are, and we are able to compare what we see with our other senses. Vision is learned over time. When a child is born, the child goes through many steps to master critical visual skills.

I recently moved back to the area and hadn't found my new eye doctor yet. I wear contact lenses that you wear at night (CRT lenses) and need a particular device to remove them. I realized that my cleaning lady had mistakenly thrown away the plunger device to remove my contacts after putting in my contact in. In a panic, I called Family Optometry' after hours and talk to Dr. Bacon. He said I could come in and get a plunger from them and that they would take care of me once opened in the morning. I went in and immediately took care of it. I got my contact out, and I'm so grateful

I have gone to this office twice now, once as a kid when I was considered legally blind, and then a second time a few years back. The doctors are at the forefront of vision therapy, and at the pinnacle of optic knowledge. They got my eyesight as a kid from legally blind to being able to drive a car safely. If you eyes are not doing what they are supposed to, this is the place to go. WORTH EVERY PENNY! And they are fantastic with children regarding eye care.

Dr Bacon doesn't listen to you, he just tells you what he thinks you need. I went here and put my trust in a doctor that seemed like he knew what he was talking about, however they got my lenses completely wrong. When I tried to tell him about it he just talked over me and wouldn't listen.
This does not reflect the secretaries or assistants working at the office, they were all very professional and kind.

We have been going to Family Optometry for more than 30 years. They correctly diagnosed a vision problem with my son and he started Vision therapy (which has a basis in neural plasticity.) Within the first few weeks we began to see result! His ability to read and COMPREHEND his subjects in 7th grade began to soar. He was motivated because he could see the results himself! He went from a C student to an A student in most of his subjects!
My youngest daughter was evaluated and Diagnosed with 2 vision problems. We all saw a huge change in her abilities to read and comprehend her classwork during

My son was having issues in school and was also behind in reading. I knew that it was not an intelligence issue and that something must be wrong. After searching for answers other places, we were referred to Family Optometry. Within the first few minutes of our appointment, we were told that our son in fact had a learning disability called Convergence Insufficiency. After some eye tests and reading assessments- we had a vision therapy plan. Even before he completed the VT plan, we were already seeing significant results. These doctors, their knowledge, and care for our family has changed the course

Very professional and detailed. Dr is very informative and answers any and all questions you have. Front desk staff is very friendly. Reception area is a bit bare, but clean. Dr Lewis is very thorough, does not rush through an appointment and wants to know if you begin experiencing anything different. I was told by my ophthalmologist in TN that I had glaucoma which they then decided I had narrowing of the vessels in my eyes (after almost $5k in eye procedures). The Rx I received from that Dr. also had me in too strong of an Rx. Since moving to AZ and becoming a patient of Family Optometry

I really like this place. They are very accommodating and friendly! And it's close by to my place, which is a win in itself!
Dr. Wright is my doctor and he was super knowledgeable and kind. He took his time examining my eyes, and then explaining to me different options for contacts/glasses.
It's reasonably priced. Contacts are always quite expensive so my insurance only covered a few months worth. The rest I had to pay out of pocket - around $280.
They have frames to choose from and quite a selection. Overall, it's a cute little office that I recommend.

Excellent service, the doc was on time for our eye appointments and the staff were friendly and efficient. I even found a pair of glasses I liked for under $500. All told, our whole tab was under $500 and I got transitions, crizal, and lite weight no-line bifocals. The exam was probably the most thorough I've had in years, done by an Opthalmology resident. I had a great experience, even the lady and her multiple out of control foster kids running around screaming didn't ruin it for me. If you need glasses and you're in the east valley, I highly recommend coming here.

Friendly staff and genuine service. I felt like Dr. Bacon had a real interest in my son's well-being and I trusted his recommendation for vision therapy. We've seen a variety of eye doctors through the years...some pediatric optometrists, ophthalmologists, some general family optometry...and Dr. Bacon has shown the most interest and gave me the best sense of understanding of my son's vision and struggles. The facility itself is nothing special in terms of updated furniture and decor, but the quality of the staff is great. Not once did I feel like I was being oversold or recommended

Consider this review if you are an adult and are very picky with your vision. I can absolutely not stand if there is any distortion or non-uniformity in my vision. In my work it is critical that I can see perfectly.
I visited the Family Optometry office to get my prescription updated and saw Dr. Bacon. Nice person, interesting to talk to.
I only looked at my prescription when I left the office and could not believe my eyes (no pun intended) when I saw a generic "+1" for both eyes. Sorry but that won't do. All my previous prescriptions were stronger and more complicated and have

I love Family Optometry! I have been going to them for eleven years. I had to take eye therapy lessons because I had trouble with my peripheral vision when I was in grade school. I had glasses for many years and now I have eye contacts. I have Dr. Tsang as my eye doctor. She's awesome, very knowledgeable and helpful. Great staff and cute glasses!
