As for the wine, the Cabernet Franc has aromas of dark fruit and black pepper. It is rich in tannins with a big mouthfeel and flavors of dried red fruit, black licorice and dried herbs.
All of the wines made by Carr are sourced from Santa Barbara County Vineyards and are made in a traditional winemaking style to capture the essence of the grape varietal and region. We believe the best wines start in the vineyard and pride ourselves on precision farming. Each vineyard is meticulously farmed to produce low yields, hand harvested and farmed using only organic practices.
Carr Vineyards, Inc. is a full service vineyard management company providing design and installation of new vineyards as well as consultation and revitalization of older vineyards. We source our grapes from vineyards located in Santa Barbara County: mainly in Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Ynez Valley. The majority of the vineyards we work with are managed by Ryan Carr.
Carr Winery offers six wine clubs to choose from: the Vintage Club, the Luxury Club, the Pinot Club, the Cluster Club, the Cab Franc Club, and the White Wine Club. There is no fee to join, and members receive the same benefits for each club, with the exception of the Vintage Club, who gets a higher discount on Carr purchases.

This was a welcome and great find that about a half mile from the madness of Funk Town. It's totally worth the trip!
Charming space, inside and out. The wines are very good. Tastings are a bit lofty, pricewise, but they are a treat in the space with nice, chill music. Outdoor space has heaters and a nice firepit.
Definitely recommend this stop.

$25 for their Standard tasting (a 5 pour flight) and $35 for the Specialty tasting (also, a 5 pour flight). They waive the tasting fee with a 3 bottle or more purchase and offer $1 ground shipping on 6 or more bottles.
We've been to Carr Winery three times in the past year and have had wonderful experiences each visit. It's located in an industrial area just outside of downtown Santa Barbara. The building is a Quonset hut style structure, which houses the tasting and barrel room. Just outside, along the street, is a beautiful little patio which is perfect for your tasting adventure.

This tasting room is adorbs! I really love their whole outdoor tasting setup. It's so chic and dreamy. They've got such a cute little cabana setup with comfy booths and long white curtain drapes for privacy. Just about all of their picnic tables are covered, and they have heat lamps and string lights meticulously placed.
Tastings at Carr Winery are by reservation only. I was able to easily schedule a tasting online before my visit. When I arrived, I was seated at my table right away and given a tasting menu. Jackie hosted me in the tasting room and she was wonderful! Very knowledgeable

I had such a lovely time at the Carr Winery! My friend and I sat at the fire pit and had fabulous time with stellar service from Victoria! She was very knowledgeable on all the wines and was patient with all our questions. Not only did we have a great time, we learned a lot about the delicious wines at Carr Winery. Can't wait to visit again soon!

We were sat pretty quickly in a cute little booth for our scheduled tasting appointment. It took a while for service and we had to solicit for our beverages on a couple occasions; perhaps because they were short staffed Friday afternoon. This new girl who was helping us was very friendly, and it's a super cute place, but other than the Rose, sadly I wasn't a fan of the tasting samples.

I’m a Big Fan of Carr Winery! 😎 Love the vibe & ambiance in the old Airplane Hanger! Great place to hang out w/friends- Whether in the cool, dimly-lit (romantic) tasting room or outside on the patio... on many occasions they have live music as well. The Carr family including Jessica & Ryan, are very cool people- & the tasting room staff is professional, knowledgeable & personable... But what I really love are their wines- I’m in w/their Cab Francs! Also Many great Pinots & yummy Sauv Blancs as well.
Mmm... I think it’s time for a glass of 🍷!!

What a Jem, Each wine was truly Spectacular! These are my 3 Favorites, Thank You Jessica Carr for teaching me about your wines. Have a great Labor Day Weekend.

I've been coming to Carr for a few years now for their excellent Cabernet Franc which I think is one of the best examples of wine made from this varietal, but more recently they have been hosting the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara's rehearsals, and I have to say that it's been very nice to be having rehearsals in a winery production facility. Everyone here has been really nice to the orchestra, and all of us definitely appreciate that (as well as the delicious wines).
As I mentioned before, the Cab Franc is absolutely amazing. There are three different bottles to choose from

Stopped by based on a recommendation from our hotel. Chris was the tasting room attendant and was very helpful. Wine was very good, however, we were a little put off by the owner's reaction to Chris giving a homeless man a dollar. The homeless man came in and asked for a quarter. Chris looked into his wallet and said he would give him a dollar, which I thought was very nice of him. I understand the importance of not wanting the homeless to return thinking they will always be funded money, but within 10 seconds of Chris giving the money, the owner ran down from upstairs and said "don&apos

Wonderful wine, phenomenal staff, large tasting/barrel room, and a great wine club! The owners are lovely and there are always fun events - usually live music on Friday’s and holiday parties. Fire pit in the outdoor patio. Very dog friendly, so bring the pup, get empanadas delivered to the tasting room, enjoy your Cab Franc and Pinot’s and you’re in business. They also have a few cask wines to try as well. Honestly, can’t go wrong with any of the reds or whites and grab the rose while you can!

Chris and Nate are fantastic guys. Came in on a Saturday night. Most tasting rooms are closed but not Carr! A tasting was the perfect way to end my night. I had the standard tasting and the cheese plate. Walked away with a bottle although all of their wine was tasty. If I lived locally, I would totally frequent this place. Parking was easy to find and they have a great outdoor sitting area with a roaring fireplace although I sat at the bar.

The place itself is interesting to stop by, thanks to the architecture and the piled up barrels, next to the vats and other wine-making pieces of apparatus. The wines on the tasting list, however, were all disappointing. They lacked personality to the point that you mostly have to rely on color to determine the varietal. The pourer was nice enough but gave sparse information, so we asked for the wine notes, which were available upon request from a binder for all except one of the whites. At least that helped.

Ryan Carr, the owner, winemaker and grower for Carr Winery, made his business a success the old-fashioned way - through diligence and hard work. Having grown up in Southern California, Ryan graduated from the University of Arizona with an Art degree, and then moved to the Santa Ynez Valley in California where he discovered the wine industry. The rest is history :-)
Carr Winery is just off Haley Street on Salsipuedes Street in Santa Barbara's "new funk zone". The tasting room is laid back and open late (until 9pm the day we went), so you can enjoy a leisurely evening of wine tasting

This was our first winery in Santa Barbara and I really liked it. Anna was the bartender and was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. She answered our many novice questions about the different wines we were tasting. I especially loved the Pinot Noir and bought a bottle to enjoy at a later time.
There was a really cute patio too and inside there was artwork, barrels of wine, and a shuffleboard table.
My only complaint was that there was no food or snacks. I would have loved to have enjoyed a cheese platter with my wine tasting (like Area 5.1 had available).

Funky & Fun vibe, excellent Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. Carr is one of the original and founding members of the "Urban Wine Trail" and one of the few wineries in SB that produces their wines on-site. Sometimes the winery is chilly: you're in a barrel room ladies and gentleman; bring a sweater. Carr Winery has a great wine club program; unlike other programs that give you a tasting on every visit; they give you a glass of whatever you want. Which is amazing. Worth a visit. Every week.
