Rick has been involved in Dominion Tantara wine production since our initial vintage in 1997. He has been our Head Winemaker since 2011. A native of New Zealand, Rick has produced wine in New Zealand, Australia and California. He provides a wealth of experience, years of expertise and a real passion for crafting the very best wines from the Central Coast of California.
In his spare time, Rick enjoys surfing, snow skiing, taking care of his animals, taking a drive in his Porsche 928 and drinking great wine. Rick's wine of choice is Pinot Noir! Having worked over sixteen years in many facets of our local wine industry, Kristy wears quite a few hats at Tantara as well and always with passion and enthusiasm!

TOUR 101 is our wine sampling program named after the most historic road in California, El Camino Real, formerly The Road of Kings and now Highway 101, the route of the vine. In addition to our Santa Maria Valley estate program, we produce wines from several noteworthy vineyards throughout the Central Coast.

Epic. My wife brought me here for Father's Day as a private tour and tasting. I was blown away by the beauty of the property. The wine profile is primarily Pinot and wow, they have amazing taste profiles... as members of multiple wineries in the area, this is a gem. Rosie is an absolute pleasure as a wine director and brings everything together masterfully She is knowledgeable and provides service as good as "white glove" and felt like we were on vacation.
