Services
Mari Vineyards produces incredible wines from roughly 60 acres of planted grapes on Old Mission Peninsula. Our soils here are comprised of sandy glacial loam, which give dynamic qualities to our wines and nurture even our most delicate of grape varietals. All of our wines are 100% Estate, which means they are made using only our grapes that grow in our vineyards on Old Mission Peninsula.
Mari Vineyards' founder Marty Lagina made the bold choice to produce world class 100% estate wines using an unprecedented selection of grapes never before grown on Old Mission Peninsula. In homage to his Italian grandmother and namesake for the winery, Teresa Mari, Marty planted unorthodox European varieties such as Nebbiolo and Sangiovese alongside classically grown appellation varieties like Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Riesling.
Naturally occuring caves have been used for over 6,000 years to store & age wine. Prehistoric winemakers near the Fertile Crescent learned that cool temperatures and high humidity created an ideal environment for wine vessels to age. During Roman times, wine was stored in catacombs that replicated these conditions, and in the late 1800's California saw its first wine caves constructed.
At Mari Vineyards, we believe the best quality wine comes from the healthiest grapes, and the healthiest grapes are grapes grown with sustainable agriculture. That's why we're constantly working to develop our procedures to attain that goal. One such procedure is reducing our environmental footprint by way of renewable energy.

What an amazing place , Brian gave us our wine tour 😍 he had so much knowledge about the grapes and the procedures of how they create their wines! He also did our wine tasting with a charcuterie board which was absolutely amazing, he was super personable and absolutely made the experience! We can't wait to come back in the summer and experienced more!!!

Nice wines, but certainly didn't have that fun, friendly vibe. Restrictions on outdoor seating according to how much you buy...picnic tables out in the breeze require two or more flights or several glasses? Inside is by reservation only. Upstairs patio reservation only. The architecture is alluring, but this place is as cold as stone.

Another winery, another unforgettable view in TC. This was our second stop for day one. I would recommend reservations, I think there are a lot more options inside, including a charcuterie board.
We got a table outside and it was really nice weather so it wasn't a big deal. I can't remember the names of any of the wines but they were great. Flight options are the way to go in my opinion and they were very reasonably priced.

Beautiful place. Absolutely stunning views and the building is gorgeous.
The wine: not very tasteful or as smooth for the price. Ordered 2 flights amongst 3 people which covered most of the wines they offer plus some by glass.
Also FYI can't bring outside food or buy a bottle of wine to drink at the site.
This was a bummer for us as we have experienced this at other wineries and vineyards. But do understand and respect the township decision and what the license permits.
Recommendation: if you want to visit the vineyard visit as a last thing or the first.

Probably our favorite vineyard on the peninsula.
Great wines. Everything we tried we liked and ended up buying $75 in bubbly.
Great service that was fun and knowledgeable which makes all the difference. Turns out she was a friend of the family from way back...way way back.
Really nice facility and it seems to mature and expand every year.
Always a must and go early since it closes earlier than others.

Beautiful Winery in a gorgeous location. Wines were delicious and complex, all but one were very dry. We really enjoyed the Late Harvest Riesling, we prefer reds, but this white with 2% residual sugar was delightful. Our only disappointment was that we could not take our tasting glasses with us as advertised, due to a glass shortage. This is the reason for four stars.

What a great winery! This was the second winery we came to for the day and it was awesome. The hostess was super nice and we got a spot outside. About 10-15 minutes after we sat down they saw rain coming on the radar so they moved us so we were still outside but under some cover.
We got a charcuterie board to share among the 3 of us and each of us got a flight of 4 wines. The board was a great variety and complemented the wine well. The wine itself was good. Sometimes when you get flights there is at least one that's not that good - this wasn't the case here.

This was an amazing experience! Booked a tour the day before. Our tour guide was very informative about the layout of the vineyard, what types of grapes, history of the building, as well as the decor, and every little detail in between. After the tour we had a flight of wine and a delicious meat and cheese board while taking in the amazing view! This is a must when in the T.C. area.
Not posting all the great pictures so as not to spoil the experience.

Favorite vineyard I was able to visit while in Traverse City!! Definitely order the Charcuterie board it has some amazing jams/dips that we wish they sold in a gift shop to take with us! We went home with 2 bottles of wine and definitely will be back when we are in the area again! If you can sit on the patio it has a beautiful overview of the bay and vineyards!

I would 100% go back to Mari Vineyards! I painstakingly researched wineries (and there are so many to choose from!) as we only had time to stop at 1 on our road trip. I definitely picked the right one. Beautiful building and view, very friendly staff AND delicious wine!! $10 for a tasting of 5 wines plus the glass. Our server was very happy to answer all our questions and gave us plenty of interesting tidbits about the wines which we loved! Make sure you make reservations on their website! We got lucky and made a reservation for 2 the day in advance and while we were there (Tuesday) they said they

Least favorite thanks to angry Andy at the check in. I'm so ok with someone having a bad day but when you constantly are rude it's unacceptable. Although water view is beautiful they need more seating in the grass and a larger bar with staff outside. Grass really needs attention to make it comfortable to sit on a blanket. Thank goodness our server was polite. They do have water bowls for the dogs which is great.

Very beautiful winery! It was super crowded on a warm summer evening, but the picnic tables overlooking the bay were first come first serve, so we were able to snag one of those quickly.
No flights available unless you're actually inside, but we were able to order wine at their outdoor bar. No idea what any of us drank since it was our fourth winery of the day, but everyone enjoyed it! Definitely worth a stop if you're checking out the Mission Peninsula wine trail!

Absolute beautiful place! They have the most friendly staff and the best outdoor space. I highly recommend the walking tour of the wine caves. What an awesome history and story. I wish I could remember our tour guides name she was the sweetest lady, retired, full of information and you could tell she loves what she does! Booking a tour, or tasting is so easy through their website and I love that you don't pay for anything until your done for the day! Can't recommend this place enough. If your on old mission and not sure what wineries to try, definitely add this one to your list.

We enjoyed the flights of wine - I did the two reds and the sparkling. Found the Row7 red to be an excellent wine with a high price tag of $85 per bottle. The sparkling was lackluster. The second floor patio had an excellent view of the peninsula and the service was top-notch. As wineries go it was on target and nothing really stood out scream special. I placed it in my one and done file.

Nicely situated and great views from the top and by the chateau.
The chateau at the vineyard looks fantastic. Think it's been renovated, we think. What a palatial building.
We walked the grounds some. Inside is quite nicely done as well.
A bit of a wait to get seated inside or outside. They have propane fires out on their patio.
Great views of the water from up here.
They have some nice selections of wines.
The charcuteries ate meat heavy here too.
The upper decks are closed off.
They do give tours of the facilities. We skipped it today. We walked more and decided to skip out

Excellent ambiance for a GNO or for a date night. We stopped by today and were glad to grab a table after waiting for a couple of minutes. The staff are very attentive and extremely COVID conscious-- all tables are wiped off between guests and all servers have masks (+ are wearing them properly!). The only downside is that this vineyard does not serve food aside from some simple crackers. They also do not allow outside food. A charcuterie board would sell fabulously.

I visited in the re-opening period (post COVID) and didn't have a reservation. Staff made marks on the grassy lawn for folks to sit socially distanced from each other. I waited in line to buy a glass of wine. Since I've never tried their wine, it was very hard to make a decision and I felt like I was missing out on the experience of tasting their wines.
