Hector and Theresa arrived in Los Angeles with their 3 kids from Argentina in 1985. Slowly they started working from home day and night preparing breads to support their family. The opportunity came, a small store was open on East Whittier Boulevard. In 1986 Sonora Bakery was opening its doors for the public.
Their older son used to come and help every day after school and now takes care of its traditions. In 10 years Sonora grew and moved to the next-door building offering more space and more services to the local area and its neighbors. Today, Sonora brings you the diversity of Central American Bakers to prepare to you the taste of their Country to your table.

Their champurrado is one if the best I've had!!!
I like the procedure they have in place. You wait outside in line and one of the employees lets you in to comply with covid protocols and safe social distancing. Once you're inside you browse their bread selections and you tell the employee what you want. She puts your goods in a tray and takes it to the register. You are not allowed to touch the bread or open the containers. I like this procedure because it minimizes unnecessary contamination from the general public. The bread is delicious and they have a really good variety of goods

Nothing but veijas pendejas that work there! They act like if they're giving you bread for free! No, this isn't your house where you bully everyone to get your way. Sure the bread is good but definitely not worth the attitude if I have questions about your bread you shouldn't get bothered. They obviously don't know how to communicate with each other or with their customers. Why own a business if you don't even know how to talk to people? They need some serious attitude changes.

I had never purchased from here before but based on good reviews, I decided to go with this place for my brothers baby shower cake. Upon arrival there was a lady there who was arguing with the managers about her cake being messed up and demanding a refund. They brushed her off and she told me not to place an order with them unless I wanted my event ruined. I was ready to leave but my mom insisted we order from here since we were already here. The "baker" took our order and went over details with us and told us it would be ready on the day we agreed on and that everything would be fine

Always good here. I ordered a tres leches cake, half she's is huge. I also bought a chocoflan.
Both were so good. They were a little busy during pick up but they were very attentive and informed us right away that they'd be right with us.
Parking sometimes is a challenge but majority of the time, I find parking in their parking lot.
Love this basket!!

I ordered a fruit tart on Friday, May 29, 2021 because they (Sonora bakery) had run out of the 'galleta type of fruit tart' and paid for it in full. The lady who attended me was very helfpul and after I asked her questions about me picking up of the order the next day, she told me that since I had already paid for it in full and was providing me with the receipt, to just arrive the next day (Saturday, May 30, 2021) to pick it up at my scheduled 10am time and let the staff member at the door know . I specifically asked her if I had to make line the next day and she said 'no'

I still cannot believe the artistry! My mother loved pan dulce so I had an arrangement made for her funeral. I had an idea in my head and Mr. Sosa, the baker, was able to make it real from just a short conversation over the phone. I had asked at other bakeries but they said they could not do it.
This work of art exceeded my expectations. Not only did it look great, it tasted and smelled great, too. It was completely made of "pan dulce." My mother would have loved to eat it. Everyone at my mother's viewing was able to enjoy a "conchita" in her honor and I am certain

Ordered a 10 inch round cake for my daughter who turned 15 and they did a beautiful job... cake was delicious! Very moist and the whip cream was not overly sweet! The cake was just beautiful! Thank you Sonora bakery I will definitely be ordering cakes from here in the future! Their pan dulce and Roscas were a big hit also.

The cakes here are the best, not sugary like at other places. The cake is super soft and has a decent amount of frosting. All of our party cakes we get here. They also provide special sugar free cakes. Their bread is also very delicious. I love their cheesecake, budín, and carrot cake. One more thing, can't forget their submarinos. They are the bomb. Either the individual or long sub.

This was my 1st time trying this place out.
First off ..... we're in a pandemic right now. This place made me feel really safe and all employees were taking great precautions. The moment you walk in you are greeted by the women that will help you grab your bread etc. ( no longer self serve ) .She does inform you to please add hand sanitizer, which they provide . She then stays 6 feet way while you tell her which breads etc you would like from the case. She then takes your items to the cashier to pack your stuff and charge you. After my stuff was packed up and ready to be charged . I handed

We always order a Submarino Gigante from Sonora Bakery for work a few times a year and it never disappoints. The sandwich is tasty and reasonably priced. Sometimes I order the sandwich a day before and I haven't had any issues when I pickup. Just make sure you have a car big enough when you pickup if you order the bigger sizes. They have a few parking spots in front but most of the time I end up parking in their lot on side of the bakery. One of the employees carried out the sandwich to my car this last time.
The sweet bread is super delicious and fresh at the bakery. The smell of the bread
