I have stayed at Sanibel Moorings several times over the past 30 years, the last being Christmas of 2021.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and meticulously manicured. The pools are both very nice and are large enough to fit the need of the complex. Each building consists of 8 condos and all of them are a reasonable walk to the beach (note there are condos across the street along the canal which makes the walk a bit longer). Beach access is via three different board walks. The Moorings provide beach umbrellas, lounge chairs, and Adirondack chairs for use on the beach. This is fantastic especially

The grounds, pool and beach were all very lovely. However, the condo was less than desirable. The carpet was very dirty. Twice we had giant cockroaches in the kitchen trash bin - we reported both incidents to management but nothing was done. In addition, on our last night, I incurred a spider bite while sleeping which became infected and entailed an Urgent Care visit - subsequently I had to take 2 antibiotics for 10 days. If the condo had been cleaner and the cockroach and spider issue addressed, it would have been a great vacation.

Sanibel Moorings is a very nice resort. Check-in was very easy. We arrived very late at night and they provided directions to open a lock box which had our welcome packet. We had no issues finding our condo. The condos are huge. We had a two bedroom. It had two full baths, a full kitchen, dining room, family room and screened porch. The condo wasn't exceptional other than the amount of space. The beds were not too comfortable, the master needs a new mattress as it was too soft. The kitchen was well equipped, but they have an induction stove top which had some issues heating up appropriately.

Check in was easy. The unit is fantastic. Decor is very nice. The unit was immaculate. Furnishings are very beautiful and well-maintained.
When we arrived, I spilled some water on the floor from our cooler. We wiped it up with a white paper towel and there was absolutely no soil on the towel.
We have a boat dock right outside of the back of the unit. The water in the Waterway behind us is visible from the bedroom window as well as the living room sliding doors. The screened-in patio is beautifully furnished, and overlooks the Waterway.
There is ample parking, but only one reserved parking space

Sanibel Moorings Resort provides all the amenities that families seek for the best vacation stay. On site pools, laundry facilities, exercise room, beach gear and much more. The property is elegantly designed featuring botany from all corners of the world including a plethora of butterfly plants. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and kitchen is more than equipped for all of your in condo cooking needs. Let us not forget the smiling and courtesy staff always doing their best to ensure you are accommodated to your every whim. I have enjoyed every aspect of my stay and intend to come back.

Sanibel Moorings is a wonderful location on Sanibel Island and we really LOVE it here. The grounds are extremely well kept and arguably the most beautiful on the island. The condo we are in is very clean and recently renovated. The staff are extremely nice and will to do whatever they can for you. Plenty of things to do as well as enjoy the beach.

Absolutely lovely! It’s like staying at a tropical paradise. So much love has gone into the gardens on the grounds. We admired some new plant, flower, or tree every single day—things I had never even heard of! There are butterflies everywhere, and my kids thought that was magical. The beach is steps away with chairs and umbrellas provided. The shelling was wonderful, the waves were calm, the pools were pristine, the laundry room was convenient, our condo was updated and had a screened porch, and every interaction with the staff was full of kindness. We’ve been visiting Sanibel for years but

Just stayed here for the first time (last week of April). We had a PERFECT stay! Condo was immaculate, they supplied us with a mountain of clean towels, the a/c worked fine (though a bit noisy), and most importantly, the beach was lovely and only a short walk from our unit (#911). There were lounge chairs and umbrellas already set up when we went to the beach after lunch, and we never had any trouble finding a vacant pair of chairs and an umbrella. The grounds were well maintained and the place was quiet, too. We look forward to returning!

Really enjoyed this location. The unit has been renovated and is a short walk to the beach. Parking spot is very convenient. Checkin was great as we didn't have to see anyone, keys were left for us. We kept our bikes on the back covered patio. Area and complex were busy, but we kept to ourselves and felt very safe due to covid. Short drive, walk or bike ride to restaurants, shops, and stores. The bike paths were fantastic! We loved it!

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience! We arrived a Friday afternoon to a unit with not a properly functioning A/C...
I called the front office and apparently there was nothing they can do ... I had to go out to Walmart and buy 3 large fans in order for the kids and elders to sleep! Not only did they never fix the issue , they were extremely rude when we called and when the maintenance came out. He basically told us, if he can deal with it so can we. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Older condo on the island, but easy beach access which was nice. Staff seemed really nice when we spoke to them. Giving only 3 stars because we came in June and the condo has their own bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels, but they were all unavailable for guests due to COVID concerns. Which would make sense, except other resorts and places on the island had these things available to their guests. So we ended up buying beach chairs, beach towels, and renting 8 bikes for our whole party on our own when it should have been included with out stay.

Just spent a few days here this year, as we do with our family as one of our family vacation traditions! We couldn't make it last year on account and of the Red Tide. However, had a great time as always, the pool and beach are always clean, beach chairs and umbrellas are set up for guests on a first come, first serve basis and the gardens are gorgeous!

It was imperative that I chose the perfect getaway. My fiancé (at the time) and I were planning our elopement in Florida, a place that we both have always loved. Having never been to Sanibel Island before, I discovered Sanibel Moorings after finding out that they had elopement packages. Wonderful place! We stayed in unit 122. Great morning and evening views. Hard to beat morning coffee off the master looking at the sunrise, or the 30 second walk to the beach to watch from there. The shelling was awesome, tons of conches. We saw dolphins from the beach. They offer free canoes and kayaks, and we got to canoe next to a dolphin jumping out of the water for us as well! Free bikes were great. We actually didn't go out to eat much at all because the view and experience was too great from our place, couldn't get better elsewhere.

We stayed elsewhere on the island, but we made a special visit to the Moorings for this botanical gardens. On Wednesday mornings they have tours - and it was a delight! So much variety - with special varieties for the butterflies. Sandra Dee was our guide and her knowledge was broad and deep. She talked about the preservation efforts, for. Our flora and fauna. There was just us - so we got extra attention and answers to our questions. We felt like we were waking with a friend!
This is a hidden gem, unknown to many - but known to plant people and botanist. Be sure to check it out! It will round

What a great place for a laid back family vacation. Conveniently located just steps from the beach this place has all the toys necessary for a beach vacation. Kayaks,bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas you can even rent DVD's at the office. Check in/out people were super friendly as well as informative.
Units come equipped with all the comforts of home including coffee pot w/filters. Bar b q grills available for guests and their own herb garden!
We stayed at the end of May which I'm guessing is off season so it wasn't as busy as say the middle of the winter.
I'll be back!

My family has been staying at the Moorings for years. Each condo is privately owned. Staff are nice. The Moorings does regular renovations in the "off season" (Oct-Nov). The property is well kept and frequently updated. The property includes laundry, conference center, bikes (for a fee), canoes, kayaks, BBQ area, laundry, fitness room, 2 pools and 1 baby pool.
The Moorings has property on both sides of East Gulf Drive. On the gulf side there is a swimming pool and baby pool. On the canal side, they have a smaller pool.

Kayak/canoe rentals available for no charge, but the path is through the island's residential canal system, so it's unlikely you'll see anything incredible.
