From cutting and polishing rough opal to designing custom jewelry, the staff is here to help customers find the opals and opal jewelry they are searching for. The staff enjoys sharing their knowledge and experience with customers, who often have many questions about opals. With 50 years of experience, Dennis is a master opal cutter, a leader in the field, and our expert-in-residence.
Of all God's creations, opals are the most amazing stones he has created. Opals in variety, in colors, in patterns, in types of background color and in the intensity of the color, it is a kaleidoscope of pure joy. People love diamonds because they sparkle, but opals you can fall in love with because they appeal to the heart.
Dennis Dahl has been cutting all types of opal for over 40 years. He is a master opal cutter with extensive experience in and knowledge of Black Opal, Boulder Opal, Crystal Opal, Mexican Opal, Opal Doublets, and Opal Triplets. In the shop, we also have Tim Morgan, an expert opal cutter and polisher.

Natural Opal: Real, natural opal has not been changed from its natural state--except to be cut and polished into a gem stone. The Opal Man carries many types of natural opal, including Australian black opal, crystal opal, white opal, boulder opal, and opal specimens. The doublets we carry and make are also cut from and made with real, natural opal.

I buy a lot of jewelry and really like to see when I'm dealing with honest people who don't rip me off. I had them assess an opal and transfer it to another ring. They had a jeweler rebuild prongs and reset the stone.
The work was impeccable and they fairly credited me for the gold in the original ring.
I plan on using them for a lot of stuff in the future. They do great work and have great prices. I'm more than happy with Thena and Tim.

I absolutely love my ring from The Opal Man! They have the most beautiful selection of genuine Opals. It is clear that each piece created here is made with love and superior attention to detail. I purchased my ring more than a year ago, and recently I bent it up pretty badly. I live in another state, so I wasn't able to drop my ring off in person. I live in Georgia and emailed The Opal Man about replacing my broken opal that was set in my wedding ring (I was very sad it broke). Not only did they find a replacement opal that looked exactly like the original, but they re-cut and re-shaped the pieces from the original broken opal so that I could one day make a pendant for a necklace. They mailed everything back to me safely and shortly. The ring and the re-cut pieces are beautiful!!!! My partner and I visit Spring Green, WI, a couple of times each summer. We always stop by The Opal Man to look at their beautiful opal jewelry. I have wanted a lapis lazuli ring for quite some time and, since I couldn't find what I wanted, I asked Tim if he could make me a ring. Well, long story short, they made me a lapis lazuli ring inspired by a Dinh Van-designed Cartier ring from the 1970s. I couldn't be happier with the final result.

If you love opals as I do then you probably know how delicate (and deeply mysterious and beautiful) they are. So not just anybody can be trusted with your beloved opals. You can imagine how distressed I was to have an opal ring made (in Montana) and two of the opals dropped out and a third opal was damaged. At that point I remembered The Opal Man in Spring Green WI. My first visit to this lovely store in Spring Green. What a fabulous selection of opals. The owner was very informative in explaining the difference in the gems. I had a difficult time choosing a pair of earrings. Decided on a set of white opals in a sterling silver setting. Very pleased and hope to visit again.

This is a store specializing in opals from around the world. Nice selection of rings, bracelets and necklaces. Friendly staff. I did make the mistake of purchasing a ring for Mother's day which did not fit my wife and they refused to exchange it a short time later...so you need to be certain of the size and walk away if you do not know the exact size of the piece you need.
