Wendell Eye Care has proudly served the Wendell community for over 10 years. We are a private, family owned business that offers high quality vision care to those in Eastern Wake county and surrounding areas. Dr. Jon Lutz and his staff work together to provide a professional and welcoming environment for each patient that comes to our office.
Comprehensive eye examinations allow us to observe the health of your eyes and medical eye exams deal with a more in depth look at a medical problem that is affecting your eyes or vision. Optomap retinal exams are also an option to enhance your comprehensive exam, providing an in depth look into your eye.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Dr. Lutz went over everything with me. I was there because of diabetes and when I left I knew everything I needed to know about my eyes. I felt at ease during my appointment. The whole process from checking in, the preliminary care, and finally the exam by the doctor were very professional.
Our comprehensive eye examinations allow us to observe the health of your eyes along with the role your eyes play in the health of your entire body. During the exam, Dr. Lutz will review your medical history, medications, and any questions or concerns that you may have in order to make sure that each problem is addressed during your visit.
Children rely on their vision to learn about their environment and the world around them from a very young age. Dr. Lutz is a huge advocate for children's examination and encourages all parents to bring their children in before starting school for a comprehensive children's examination. Dr. Lutz is also a member of the InfantSEE Program and provides free examinations to children under the age of one.

I came as a new patient and I was so impressed. The location is beautiful, they have a huge selection of eyewear, including for children. The staff was happy, helpful and the Dr was very thorough and trustworthy. I noticed that the Dr, and others worked together to provide me less expensive options than the contacts I have been wearing (which are very pricey dailies). They didn’t have to do that, and I didn’t ask them to. I highly recommend!

So the crew and Dr are great. My whole family was lax in year one of Covid getting our yearly vision checks. However it needed to be done, and after multiple review I decided to give them a try. They were fantastic. From the front desk, the techs, even the eye glass guy - there was no pressure just service done right. Can't see where I'll be looking for anywhere else to go after coming here.

Finally received first hand experience at this 5-star reviewed establishment. Definitely lives up to the hype. Honestly, a 5-star review doesn't do this business justice. The integrity, organization and patient focused environment is such a breath of fresh air. Will just have to call out my top fave parts of my visit. When we made the moved to Wendell we wanted to become invested in the community. We decided to move everything to Wendell. Admittedly I was apprehensive about changing eye doctors, but knew I made the right decision when I met Dr. Lutz!! My husband and I both made the move and couldn't be happier. I'm brand new to the area and needed to have an eye exam. I arrived to my appointment just 7 minutes late which is usually not a big deal but the lady at the front desk was rude, made a passive aggressive comment to me about being on time and then proceeded to tell me they weren't gonna be able to take me for my appointment. I'm sure the optimitrist and technicians here are wonderful but your front desk staff is the face of your business and they should always be as professional and kind to every patient that walks in the door. The entire staff is wonderful! Dr. Lutz has been my doctor for a couple of years. I am mainly a contact lenses person with the exception of glasses at bedtime. If you get your contacts through them they will replace any torn lenses. The staff helped me pick out my glasses, and people compliment me on how well they look on me. We actually moved from Wendell and I still drive back here because I don't want to change eyes doctors!
