Services
Poncho's Solar Service was established in 1987 with the mission to help reduce electricity costs for Hawaiian families and to harness energy produced by the sun. Today, our mission remains the same, along with our commitment to provide customers with quality solar products and customer service. Harness the power of the sun to reduce your electric bill.
Did you know that dirty PV panels can affect how much energy your solar system produces? Solar panel cleaning is recommended at least once a year to remove dirt, leaves, and other items from the surface of the panels. Experiencing issues with your Solar PV system? Poncho's Solar services solar equipment installed by Poncho's or other solar installation companies.
Solar PV + Battery Storage systems help reduce the amount of electricity customers buy from the grid. Saving money on electric bills is easy because the household electric demand is covered by solar panels during the day and offset by discharging the storage battery in the evening or at night. Installing a Solar PV + Battery Storage System also provides a sense of security when severe weather events occur.

I needed quick service and called my uncle who recommended me to Ponchos because my grandpa many years ago used Ponchos. Wow I can say the Customer service was amazing. They were quick to help fix my parents solar water heater and the staff took care of everything.
I will definitely mark them in my book and highly recommend them for my family and friends as a go to!

Had my Solar Water Heating system serviced as per the 5 year standard. The service runs $325.00 for about 20 minutes of work and approximately $55.00 or less in parts. This to me being a contractor is somewhat high. Now that I know what to do I will service the unit myself in the future. However for those that do not feel comfortable servicing their own unit be prepared to pay a high price. The service includes flushing deposits out of the water storage tank, replacing the sacrificial anode that resides with in the tank itself and change the pressure relief valve located on the roof panel. I purchased my solar water heater from Giant Solar 11 years ago and Poncho's took over. Andre came to my home on Friday and told me that it was covered under warranty and I only need to pay $400 for the labor. Office scheduled the install for today and a little before arriving Andre texted me that he made a mistake and the water heater is not covered under warranty and it would cost me $1800 plus tax. I called him back and tried to talk to him and he hung up on me. I called the office to speak with the manager and got Mrs. Poncho but she was no help either she told me the person I should be

Many years ago, never again...
I had a solar water heater and panels installed on my new house in Ewa years ago. It was a good system and so to keep it maintained I called them to do a maintenance check on the whole system. That was a mistake. Within a week the 80 gallon tank started to leak but it was still under warranty. I called Ponchos to have them take care of it but the woman on the line said that Poncho was busy with another job and would call back. I kept calling back many times and the woman kept saying that Poncho was busy. I probably shouldn't have told her that the tank

Poncho Solar just put in a new water heater and new panels on my roof. If I could give them 6 stars if I would . KIRBY MAC is great to work with and gets everything set up. The work crew was here yesterday and did a super job, only taking three hours. Right now there are still tax credits you can receive. Definitely the best service I've received! Call them at 808-422-4266.

I entered into a contract over a year ago (promotion at Aiea High School) and still am sweltering in heat. I haven't pushed the issue because I didn't want to spend the money right now but getting them to live up to their contract is hard. They said after the promotion they'd be losing money on the job, and then there were delays working with the AOAO and roofing company on my townhome..... next it was our installer for the condenser moved to Las Vegas and our electrician is - something or other. Very disappointed.......

I previously had no problems with installation or service. However, this time around was different. One of my PV panels was not functioning properly. It should have triggered an alert but apparently, Walter's Electric is no longer on Oahu and not monitoring their installs. I made a call to Poncho's and they switched the monitoring over to Poncho's Solar Service. They immediately saw my problem. A replacement microinverter was sent out by Enphase, which took 3 weeks to arrive. I was instructed to call Poncho's once the part arrived. That is where my problems started.

I was having issues with my hot water coming from the pump/ I called them and made an appointment for Saturday since that is the only day I can get off. They said the tech will call that day.
On Saturday the tech called at 8 am and said will come about 11:30 am. That was fine. He arrived early about 10:30 a and went to work. Explained what was wrong and the how the system worked and can be maintained. It turned out to be the solar panel, was old and just gave out after 20 plus years.
My tech was Andre and was very professional and informative Oh and just took about 20 minutes . In the end i

I have solar panels that are under warranty and supposed to be serviced by Poncho's Solar. The panels have not been working properly for the last two months and I have called Poncho's to schedule a service appointment at least 15 times--and that is not an exaggeration. The woman who answers the phone when I call knows exactly who I am because I have called so many times. Whenever I call, I am told that I can only schedule appointments with one employee named Chris. I am then told that he will call me back the next day--I make these calls in the morning. I spoke to Chris one afternoon and as we

Hi,
I called your office on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 to schedule an inspection of my Taco 006-BC4-1, which was making noise. I spoke to Chris, whom then scheduled that inspection for Wednesday, June 1, 2016 - with instructions to remain at home and wait for a phone call between 9 and 10 a.m. to advise time when technician would show up.
So I took the day off from work but no phone call from your field technicians this morning, so called your office just before 12 noon, but was told that Chris, that schedules field personnel, had stepped away from his desk, and that he would call me back as soon

We had our solar panel installed last year. All is good and electric bill cut in half. For the past week, due to no sun,we ran out of hot water last night. My husband and I could not figure out how to operate the panel on the tank. I saw the telephone number on the tank and said that we should just try to give them a call, and it was past 8PM on Sunday.
Derrick picked up the phone right the way , and walked us step by step on how to reset the tank on the phone with patient and care. I know a lots of people complains about the services in Hawaii in general; however, my experience with Poncho's

When I read the reviews on here, I was a bit skeptical when my parents decided Poncho's should do our Solar Water Heater. I was concerned, considering the reviews on here are either really good or really bad...very little in between.
I had heard my parents speak of Blake but had never met the man. However, today would be different. About 9:20 or so, two men, Scotty & Dougie, pulled up to the house in the Poncho's truck. They were well mannered yet quiet and quickly got to work. Not too long after, Blake showed up to speak to my mom and the guys, then he left.

The quality of the system is okay, but the service is terrible. I had my system installed two years ago. They moved my water heater to a different room, and after talking to Mr. Rogers about where to place it in the room we chose a spot against an interior wall. I didn't realize until later, that is not a good decision. After installation (the plumbing work was beautifully done), my water heater proceeded to blow off hot water a few times a week, and flooding my washroom floor with scalding water, since the outlet for the pressure release was near the interior wall and not plumbed to drain anywhere
