Mt Vernon Winery
Founders Jim & Lynda Taylor and winemaker Ryan Taylor own the largest and most award winning winery in Placer County with a spectacular variety of hand-crafted wines you are sure to enjoy! The tasting room is a beautifully restored old 1950s milk house with elegant gardens that over look the lush vineyards that are sure to make your visit a sheer pleasure.

But most of all, the wonderful people you will meet as you taste our sumptuous wines will bring you back again and again! Wines of Mt. Our winemaker hand crafts all of our wine here at Mt Vernon Winery. The wine cave is filled with oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. You will often find our family and staff happily working the bottling line putting labels on and wax dipping the port that will be sold in the coming weeks.
Services
Vernon Vineyard and Winery is a small family owned and operated winery nestled in the grassy foothills of Auburn California. The Taylor family transforms Sierra Foothills Grapes into outstanding lush aromatic wines, with riveting fruit flavors fit for a President. The winery offers a majestic view and relaxing atmosphere.
The tasting room is an old restored milk house originally built in 1950. Jim and Lynda Taylor purchased their estate unaware of the incredible possibilities the rich and nurtured land would hold for their winery. Mt. Vernon Winery is committed to meticulous vineyard management resulting in a small but spectacular production of their estate bottled wines.
We at Mt. Vernon are very proud to be able to support a worthy cause to help in the fight against breast cancer. We are the only winery in the world with exclusive rights from Dr. Ernie Bodai to wear the Breast Cancer Stamp on their bottle of wine, and have released several "Global Journey" wine labels to show support for Dr. Bodai's efforts to place the postage stamp in 11 more countries.
Jim Taylor was born in Oklahoma City, Ok. He was raised on a wheat and dairy farm. Starting at the age of 8 he was driving tractor and worked side by side with his father. Anyone who has met Jim knows that he has a true enthusiasm for farming which is why he is such a natural for owning such a wonderful winery.
Vernon Winery received a total of eight awards at the largest competition of American wines, including five Silver Awards for its 2018 Estate Zinfandel, 2018 Estate Barbera Rose Bubbles, 2018 Malbec, 2018 Mountain Red Wine, and 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Hills Reserve. Vernon Winery received 'Best in Class' for its 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon and 'Double Gold' for its Bubbles Rose at the largest competition of American wines.

What a find this winery is-just up the road in a gorgeous setting. The wines are the best we have tasted in the region and the people who work there-including the owners- are very friendly and easy to talk with. The tasting room is bright and comfortable and there is a great outdoor picnic area. Their new Wine Garden Island is a real draw during the warmer months with live music and food prepared by their chef.
When you go, be sure to purchase some of their new Girly Man Cider-it is not to be missed!

Every time I walk in to this charming winery, I feel so at home! Julie and Jeri are so welcoming and knowledgeable!! I'm always meeting interesting people, from all over California, and beyond, who are also lucky enough to be enjoying the delicious, Placer County wines with me on any given tasting day! The location, tucked into the foothills, just off Hwy. 49 & Highway 80, couldn't be more convenient! The bubbles rosé is perfect for any special occasion. The Zinfandel that was just released is exquisite! My favorites, however, are the Barbera and the Cab Franc. The Wine Island (for

This winery is beautiful. Lots to be seen. Two streams flow through the property which we were told salmon run though.
The wine however, a complete miss. Never seen a cab franc for $35. And I've never tasted a can franc that was so terrible I poured it out. Normally not many wines land in the bucket most tolerable but this one did. The only drinkable wine was Barbara at $35 a bottle.

The winery and grounds were nice. The wine seemed quite a bit overpriced for what it is. The wines are very fruit forward, low acidity, and very light on tannins. This makes for a smooth drinking, crowd pleasing wine. I prefer wines with more structure & balance that will hold up to aging.
Staff weren't even familiar with the wine making techniques. For example, I asked if the chardonnay was "oaked" and the server didn't even know how to answer that question.

Beautiful outdoor setting and tasty wine! We visited on 10/2/21. The tasting room is homey and rustic, and the outdoor patio and garden looks beautiful. This was our last winery visit of the day, so we didn't have much time and plan to visit earlier next time.

The property is beautiful and the personnel could not have been more pleasant. There is a lot of pride of ownership here. The wines are best described as "different". Few of the varietals really resemble their names. The Cabernet Sauvignon is just not even close. Nor is the Pinot Noir. That said, there are some interesting blends. We enjoyed and bought two - a red blend and a white port. Both very nice. One oddity is that they have a wine called "Sinful Zin" featuring three men who they consider "sinful" presidents - all Democrats. Equally odd is that this "zin

I hate to give a bad review but this is mostly due to service although their wines are not that great either. We became members shortly after moving to Auburn and enjoyed going there for wine tasting. However, they never communicated when the quarterly wine releases were ready for pickup. The way I found out about new releases was when I saw the charge to my credit card. I cancelled my membership last October but was still charged on my credit card for the spring release. Sorry, these guys and girls don't seem to have their act together when it comes to communication and service. My wife

I have been a wine club member for many, many years.

It is always fun to visit the winery and they always treat you like family.

The wines are fabulous. Wine is totally an individual taste, but I have found over the years I always find my taste, Zinful has always been a favorite. A new favorite is Zin-Bera.

I arrived early today to pick up my wine club selection and not only did they let me pick up my wine club selection early, Lynda (co-owner) was walking up, greeted me and escorted me personally to view their new area that will be available soon for wine club members. It is an area the

Pretty, shaded outdoor tasting for covid on the hot smoky Thursday afternoon I visited. No one else there at 12:30. Cheerful service with cold water. I got to go in the tasting room to pay since I was the only customer (and masked). The cab franc was nice. I walked from the Toyota dealer nearby, but some shoulders are narrow, so I can't recommend that.

Picked up my club package and a case of the excellent Zin-Bera. Staff says they are still in lockdown until next week when wine tasting returns. Social distancing encouraged. Food truck out of food just after one, not Mt. Vernon's fault. Was a beautiful day that brought a lot of people out. Dreaded Sunday drinkers. Of course, many churches are still closed so what's one to do? Mt. Vernon Winery has always been a friendly and satisfying destination. Wine's good to great. Oh, and arrive early if the food trucks are scheduled.

Can someone please stop playing a prank on me in telling me this place is a legit winery operation? Damn. I feel bad writing this review but here I go. From the moment I walked in, something felt very off. Perhaps the old drapes and crammed enclosed tasting room that felt like your grandmas converted basement into some sort of living space. Okay, whatever, interior design isn't their thing. On to the wine! What can I say, I tried 14 different kinds and couldn't commit to even a glass of any of those 14. Wine isn't their thing I guess, so how about the customer service? Well, none

I really enjoy stopping by Mt Vernon when driving over the hill in either direction. It's a super cute little winery off the road.
Wines are pretty darn good, and the prices of them aren't bad either.

We bought 3 bottles on this visit, and they are YUMMY.

In my opinion the wine club is a little on the pricey side at $95 4 times a year. I think it's 4, it could be 3.

I don't remember the ladies name that helped us with our tasting, but she was great, you can tell she loves what she does. The property is beautiful as well, lots of places to sit outside and enjoy a view of

Stop #1 for the day was Mt Vernon. Julie was working and even though it was busy, she was very attentive and answered all of our many questions. They have 14 wines Available for tasting for $9. That's a great deal for tasting. All of the wines were excellent and we ended up with a bottle of their sparkling wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. If we lived closer we would've joined their wine club. We'll definitely be back. We had a great time!

PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY CHILDREN

Hello everyone,

This place has great wine and a good atmosphere. My wife and I have been here several times and have had a good time but today we decided to bring our little ones. Not only did we get asked to go out to a different part of the winery with our kids but so did other couples next to us.

I really mean it when I say that our kids ( 4 and 5yr olds) behaved well and all we got was staff following us around telling us we should pretty much leave. We are members and very disappointed with how we were treated. I know its not a playground for kids but

Out of all the wineries we visit we always enjoy Mt. Vernon Winery. They have a fantastic variety of delicious wines to taste and they now have sparkling wine! They have a lovely patio overlooking the vineyards to relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine with friends. We love the owners and the staff is awesome. I love to drop in for my wine release and visit with Jeri, she's awesome! I highly recommend this winery.

Driving around we stumble to this winery. Although it's not high end by all means, they do have decent wine but great service, great environment and great pricing.
First, their wine tasting is very inexpensive; $9.00 for 16 samples' can't beat that. Staff here are very friendly and their outdoor patio is real nice with tables and shades where you can sit and have lunch while enjoying their wine. As for us, we called and had pizza delivered for the kids while the grownups sampled the wine.
Don't expect any expensive fine wine here but if you're looking for an everyday wine to go with your meal
