The Milano Family Winery is located in an original, historic Hop Kiln right on Hwy. 101 near the Russian River, just south of the town of Hopland in Southern Mendocino County. Our property has a history of brewing libations. From the 1870's until the 1950's hop growing was a major industry throughout Mendocino.
The hop kiln was used to dry and bale the hops before shipping them worldwide for beer brewing. Today, this historic property is the region's oldest operating winery offering fine, hand-crafted wines. You can see our current winemaking activities, and of course, see where hops were originally processed.

What a great place to be! Absolutely amazing hosts to hang out with. Dogs are absolutely welcome on the property & even in the tasting room. They have a llama, groats, a duck & a goose & you may even be lucky enough to see the huge tortoise! Kids are welcome to explore & even feed the animals. Super family friendly & great wines! Must try their Sunshine white wine. A must have during these hot summer days & they serve it cold right out of the fridge. I absolutely recommend this place for the whole family! Don't miss out on this gem

We went to Hopland to look at a wedding Venue. The venue had given us a bottle of wine from a local vineyard that was close to our location. We decided to check out the town. We went to Milano and it was by appointment only. So we called and Cathy S. was able to give us a appointment shortly after. We were welcomed by Cathy she had a table all dressed up with our names on it. Cathy was so very knowledgeable, professional, curtious and kind. After finding out we both were and are in the wine business she opened up and it was a time we will never forget. Thank you Cathy for a amazing visit and we

My family is very picky about where we spend our time. I always want an educational experience for my kids and for them to be happy, and my husband and I always want to be able to relax and have a glass of wine. This place is absolutely phenomenal. Tyler is magnetic. My children were able to roam around the farm and look at the animals while my husband and I enjoyed some alone time. It is extremely reasonable and just a great testament to what the wine country used to be. I would highly recommend this place.

I went this winery the day after my graduation from Humboldt state. I was with my Mother, Grandfather, and boyfriend so there was a good amount of us excited about tasting some wines and especially about buying them. Sadly when we entered the hostess, an older Caucasian women was not that pleasant to us. She made us all try the wine out the same wine glass (which I thought was very unsanitary), was very rude to us when we asked if they had certain types of wines, and lastly when another Caucasian woman came into the tasting room she simply ignored us. It was my first time at a wine tasting, and

Copy of a post from an old account of mine:
I first stumbled upon this place a few years ago as it was part of the Hopland Passport, which is coming up again on October 27th and 28th (inexpensive and worth it). They were selling this wine, Recall Red for under $10.00 a bottle and in honor (I guess) of the California recall of Gray Davis. The label had California on it with each county outlined along with the number from each that were running for Gov. Last year, they had Relief Red, which benefited Katrina victims, also under $10.00. Both wines were amazing, so I am curious to see what they

It's a cute place to get wine with a nice little town next door for lunch, antiques and bocce ball. I went in to buy for my uncle on the way back to SF otherwise I wouldn't have stopped. There are at least 20 wineries in the area, how does one choose?? They had a clearance section on wine that had to be consumed right away, that's how.

Housed in an former hop kiln this quaint tasting room is just off highway 101 just south of Hopland. I was quite impressed with the tasting room staff and the genuine feeling that you get when you first enter the room. The wine itself isn't earth shattering, but it's decent quality enough to keep even the most staunch of wine snob interested. I love this little place.
