I like to visit local eateries for breakfast instead of having a typical hotel-style buffet breakfast served at conferences. This was exactly like the breakfast I was trying to avoid. The dining room was clean and staff were friendly. The food was bland and flavorless, but also very expensive compared to other options in the area. 2 scrambled eggs, mushy red potatoes and a muffin was $13 before gratuity. Want a sausage link? $5 more please. I think this place is all about convenience of location.

Went on Tuesday morning two other tables occupied. The restaurant was freezing. Everyone had a coat on. Prices were extremely high. I ate one biscuit and gravy and that was horrible. It tasted like onion powder was in it. My husband had a skillet that had very little meat in it. The bill was $22 and we both had water. Rediculous. Only good part was the waiter was very nice. Otherwise a waste of $$$ and time. Won't be back.

This is my second time eating at the cafe and I'm never disappointed. From the moment you step into the establishment, you are welcomed by a friendly face and leave with a stuffed belly. If you're lucky enough, you'll get Irene as your server! She was attentive, professional and has a great sense of humor.
My go-to meal and I highly recommend is the Eggs Benedict!

This experience was more of a 2.5 but I decided to round up. The food was tasty (4 stars). I got the skillet and it came with a corn muffin- the muffin was extremely tasty (fresh, moist and warm). The service however was terrible (1 star at most). We sat down around 10:50am and no one bothered to take our drink order for 30 minutes. We got coffee but then had to wait 10 minutes and ask twice for utensils so we could stir our coffee... we also asked for Splenda and since no one got us any, we grabbed it from the next table ourselves.

Needs improvement but great food--though patience was tested but we had to calm and just learn to wait. Noticed their under staffed coz I saw the lady that placed our name on waitlist was also actually helping out clear tables to ready for next customer to be seated.
Once seated, we were waiting again but because we had a schedule I had to ask to be served right away (but our server was busy) but thanks to Carlos he was so understanding that he took our orders and was so prompt. He was the best server!

Great dinners, we were here multiple times while at the hotel. I loved the spicy marg and short ribs.
I'd give their breakfast a 3.5. Ordered the pancakes, vegetable skillet, and the burrito on different mornings. The savory breakfasts were a little bland. Pancakes were fluffy and great with the fruit.
I liked the corn muffin. It was slightly sweet.
Customer service was great in the evenings

Never thought the on-premises restaurant/cafe of a Holiday Inn would be a top pick but this one is. On a recent stay we attempted twice to get into the parking lots where the popular Mitch's and Point Loma Seafood restaurants are located to no avail. So we drove back to hotel and decided why not, there's outside seating and the weather is lovely.
Service was pleasant, and downright delightful. Cleanliness precautions taken when guests depart their table and chairs are thoroughly wiped down. Food was outstanding. Their homemade salsa was so good with chips, and with the Mahi fish tacos

Outside reminded me of a sea foam green version of Howard Johnson's. Inside looked pretty nice until it was apparent they closed the lovely restaurant with plantation shutters and forced everyone to eat in the bar area.
Wait was a bit awkward bc no host.
When seated service was decent. Had what basically resembled shrimp tacos. They were encased in interesting jicama shells. Portions weren't huge and prices a bit high for what you got, but that's to be expected in the area.
Wait staff was friendly if a bit sparse. Took a bit to get the check. Found it oddly hilarious when a patron

Great ribeye steaks and happy hour appetizers! The clam chowder is delicious. It has the perfect balance of potatoes and clams. The real clam broth brings it to perfection. The seafood Fra Diavlo is very good and my wife's go to order. I love their ribeye steak with the peppercorn sauce. The sauce is the perfect complement to the juicy tender steak. The servers aim to please, are very attentive, and gladly provide recommendations if you can't decide what to order. All in all an excellent dining experience.

Our group of four arrived at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were seated promptly. Our coffees came very soon thereafter, and it was good Kona coffee. Really good. Our server was diligent in keeping our cups topped up during our visit.
After ordering, the food came in about 15 minutes or so. While waiting, I noted that the decor, while relaxing, was really quite bland. Muted colors, nothing bold design-wise. It's a Holiday Inn property, so nothing adventurous would be expected.
My order was the Western Skillet, consisting of grilled diced ham, cubed

As opposed to what Yelp business timings are, this place open till 1:30 pm only after which guests are directed to Bayside Bar just adjacent to it. However, both the places share the same menu.
When my friend and I arrived at around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon, we didn't a single customer at the restaurant which made us doubt our choice but it was the ambience that made us stay there. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating by a pool and it's pretty and green. Tried chicken pasta ($20) and spicy chicken wings ($13). Liked both, specially the pasta. Spicy chicken wings are a bit different

So I am staying at the hotel and thought it would be easy to get some food since it's close by. This is my first time in this area and I'm not quite familiar with the area.
Pros: huge salad! They don't skimp on their meats and really give you a lot for what you pay for.
Cons: out of 5 people, 3 of us ordered food. 2 salads and a pizza. Our order took an hour to get to us. We spent more time waiting then anything. It was a pain because no one stopped by at first to even take our order. They looked severely understaffed and it definitely felt like a waste of time. To get the bill
