I am a psychotherapist in private practice based in Seattle and Gig Harbor, Washington. I hold a Master's of Psychology Degree from Seattle University. I received my BA in Religious Studies from Kenyon College. My experience includes research at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and clinical work at Harborview Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions.

In my practice, I work with people, couples and family on various issues. I have a specialty in addiction work; I am a licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in addition to being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I enjoy working with families of addicts, and addicts who are clean and sober. I also work with people on issues of depression, anxiety, stress, codependency, women's issues, life changes, and spirituality.

Therapy can seem to be a daunting undertaking, but it does not have to be. Together, we will discuss important issues in the present, and also address the past. We will look at your family of origin (the family you grew up in) and your environment. We will address current and past thinking and perception patterns, behaviors, and feelings.
Words fall a bit short when trying to describe Anne, so I will just have to do my best. How much I appreciate Anne has a lot to do with the changes I have seen in myself, as a direct result of working with her these last 3 years. Of course, none of that change is instant. What was instant, however, was Anne's talent for being a therapist.
Everyone feels stressed out at times, but we need help when it becomes a long term experience. Stress is the reaction to exciting and overwhelming stimulus. Generally stress is acute and short term, but sometimes we find stress from work or home life can feel never ending. Continuous relationship stress can put a big strain on our energy level, eating habits, and our general feeling of happiness and wellbeing.
Depression is a common response to difficult life experiences, it can feel like you are stuck in darkness with no way out. Without healthy coping skills and support, one can get lost in the sadness. I work with these hopeless feelings and I offer solutions in the form of support, validation, healthy coping skills and solutions.
Anxiety comes on for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's a response to a temporary stress, or a constant, environmental stress. There are ways to learn to deal with the anxiety, and also to release it. Medication may be indicated to help one with anxiety. Insomnia, stomach pain and lack of focus is often a physical response to anxiety as well.
