Dr. Benna Strober works with children, adolescents and young adults. Problem areas include communication gaps between parents and teens, divorce and adjusting to young adulthood. Parenting can be joyful, but when it's hard - it can be really hard. Seeing your child making the same mistakes over and over again, despite all your efforts, can be absolutely devastating.
It may lead to self-doubt, fears for their future, and even reactions coming out of frustration, that you later regret. I am Dr. Benna Strober, a licensed psychologist located in Mount Kisco, NY and I am glad you are visiting my website. I am known as a caring and effective psychologist who will help you and/or your child work through your difficulties, whether they require short-term intervention or longer-term treatment.

Services
I obtained my master's and doctorate in School/Clinical Psychology from Pace University in 1995. I worked in private schools in NYC prior to working as a school psychologist in the alternative high school for White Plains School District in White Plains, NY.
After starting my own family, I left the school setting and opened my private practice to help children, teens and their families in a different modality to broaden the population I could serve and support. In my private practice I offer individual therapy for children, adolescents and young adults, as well as their parents with a focus on helping create healthier coping strategies and a stronger self-esteem.

The role of a custody evaluator during a divorce is to assist the court in securing the psychological best interests of the children of the divorcing couple. In working on custody evaluations, Dr. Strober strictly adheres to the specific ethical and procedural guidelines created by the American Psychological Association (APA).
I work closely with the family law community to provide Reunification Therapy. This service will typically be initiated through a court-order or an attorney referral. The goal of Reunification Therapy is to repair the parent-child relationship within the context of a high-conflict divorce/separation.
Discovering that your child is injuring themselves through cutting or other forms of self-injury can be a frightening experience for a parent. In addition to worrying about your child's safety, you also have many questions about why your child would make this choice and how something like this could be happening in your family.
Before beginning individual psychotherapy, I require we meet for a consultation at my rate for individual therapy ($250). This consultation is an opportunity to discuss the reasons for you/your child seeking therapy, readiness to engage in therapy and what you hope to accomplish. It is also an opportunity for you to see how I work and to decide if you find my approach helpful.

In order to respect the privacy of Strober's clients, I will not be able to go into details in this review. Nevertheless, to the extent that I can, let me be clear: Strober is a terrible psychologist. She did far more damage than good for her clients. This both reflects her competence and her character.

Don't waste your time or money. Brought my daughter to her for MULTIPLE years and my daughter asked her repeatedly for help with certain issues. So after years of wasting time, I switched therapists. Within 3 months as opposed to 6 years, the new therapist realized my daughter was depressed and had anxiety and goes out of her way to help. Benna uses "confidentiality" as an excuse when it's convenient for her and said "wish you luck" after we paid literally thousands of dollars and spent so much time for NOTHING.
