1606 Restaurant & Bar

Everything we ordered was not prepared correctly. The clam chowder was underseasoned and I needed to add pepper to it. Our dozen oysters were shucked improperly, leaving shell bits in our mouths. The scallop dish had overcooked chewy scallops, and my mango salmon was overcharred, topped with fake ginger (dyed pink) that didn't compliment the dish at all. To add insult to injury, the ginger creme brulee wasn't torched correctly, and had no glass snap over the dish.
If you're going to serve basic food, at least do it right, especially since you're an oyster bar and can't even present a shucked oyster

Beautiful setting right on the Ocean. Our waitress was professional and wonderful, our meals were delicious as was the chocolate cookie with ice cream dessert, a picture perfect birthday lunch with amazing friends ❤️

The crab cake, filet, potatoes au gratin & chocolate moose were amazing! Everything was really good overall, went with a party of 6 and everyone was super happy with everything we got. Servers were super nice too! One of the nicest Restaurants in Gloucester & will definitely go again

Everything Soo flavorful and the view is great. Let's start with the clam chowder w chive aioili... Yes ailoili this brings it to the next level. We also got the mushroom flat bread w truffle sauce and ox tail risotto both were prepared well and savory. For the main coarse 1606 Burger very well done and even seasoned after it was pulled off the grill. Swordfish burger w pesto and open faced veggie burger.

My food was great. Staff should be more knowledgeable about allergies. Had my wedding dinner here the other night and my husband ordered his dish and it came out with pesto on it. If I didn’t know any better he would have ate it and ended up in the hospital on our wedding night. Cause of that scare he ended up eating a burger when originally calling to make reservations Nicole was quite rude. Overall the food was great and our server was nice and accommodating.

One of my all time favorite restaurants to go for an outdoor dining resort experience right in Gloucester. Absolutely love the seating outside and the beautiful views, and the food is incredibly fresh. Sometimes portions may be smaller, and that's what you're signing up for with high quality food!

When i tell you it was fantastic… i’m definitely undermining this restaurant. It was the perfect portions. Perfect view. Incredible service. And don’t get me started on how the food taste. If you are looking for an exquisite evening, this is the place to go.

Wonderful food, great ambiance and excellent service. We ate on the deck for lunch, the haddock was excellent however the fried calamari was less so.. It contained green olives and chorizo which did not interact well with the main ingredient... The calamari.

I had a romantic dinner on the deck of the 1606 restaurant the other night. It is very European to sit outside even on a cooler night with blankets.
I had a shrimp risotto (gluten free) Unfortunately it is only an appetizer size and they couldn’t make it bigger for me to have this as my main course. It tasted heavenly. I ordered a gluten-free burger and Caesar salad after . I was happy they were able accommodate my gluten-free request.
They have a good selection of wine to choose from.
