This year, we celebrate 30 years of certified organic viticulture at our Badger Mountain Estate Vineyard. Badger Mountain Vineyard, founded by Bill Powers in 1982, is the first wine grape vineyard to be USDA Certified Organic in Washington State. We earned certification in 1990, three years after Bill committed himself to organic viticulture and wine production.
His vision began with our responsibility to the environment and extends to producing a completely natural product under our Badger Mountain Vineyard label.

Our commitment to organic viticulture and wine production begins with our responsibility to the environment, and extends to producing a completely natural product for our customers. We use only organically approved and naturally occurring substances for all vineyard applications ~ this means no chemical insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or synthetic fertilizers.
Badger Mountain soils are of volcanic origin. Our average annual rainfall is 6 inches, 95% of it occurring between November and March. The vines are trellised upright, using the Scott-Henry trellis, which improves sun penetration and air movement, developing character and balance in the grapes. Crop and shoot thinning controls vigor and limits yields, increasing flavors and aromas in the finished wines.
This region is ideal for achieving that perfect chemistry needed for good fruit and good wine, because it is so consistently windy and dry. As far as flavor profiles, there is a much stronger fruit presence and vibrancy to organic wine. During maceration, the temperature is kept lower, which helps preserve those varietal-specific characteristics.

Review of the wine, not the vineyard. Picked up a bottle of the 2020 Organic Pinot Noir. This has all the sophistication of basic grape juice. It is an extreme let down given the price. Tastes nothing like any Oregon Pinot I have had before, and I almost exclusively drink Oregon Pinots when I enjoy wine. It’s simply just not good. Straight grape juice.

The staff at Badger Mountain Winery are the most exceptional people. The staff is friendly, helpful and always checking to see what else you may need. You can tell they truley enjoy the work they do. I had a event there just recently and they went above and beyond to insure the evening was a success. I can not say enough about this Winery it is definately my go to place. So if you are out wine tasting in Eastern Washington make sure to put this Winery on your list you will not be disappointed.
