It all started with a crabapple tree one fall not too long ago. This tree's fruit had been picked and made into jelly by a friend ever since we planted it, but one year the friend was too busy. My father and I couldn't let all that fruit go to waste: so we followed an internet "recipe" and made a crabapple wine that wasn't half bad.
Our vineyard resides in Albemarle County among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the spectacular Monticello AVA. The vineyard is certified-organic, only one of a handful on the East Coast. Because we grow our grapes organically, we chose grape varieties that are fairly resistant to diseases (mildews, rots, etc.).
A common misconception about organic agriculture is that it involves doing nothing: what can be more organic, after all, than watching your crop become destroyed by insects and disease (ah, the circle of life!). Firstly, "organic" means agricultural practices that do not use synthetic substances. Prohibited substances include most of the designer pesticides and fungicides commonly used by large agribusinesses.
If given the opportunity, nature will find equilibrium, and if we can just get on the right side of the curve, we can farm with nature instead of against it. What does this mean? This means surrendering absolute control to the mind-numbingly complex systems of life above and below the ground, and then respectfully elbowing out a little space for our grapevines.
If you work with us in the vineyard for 8 hours, you receive a 25% discount on our wines for a year. No catches. No regular shipments. You buy what you want when you want it. Vineyard tasks available for wine club participants include planting, shoot-thinning, cluster-thinning, and shoot-positioning.

We stopped in on our way home. It was a 2 mile scenic drive to the quaint winery. We typically only like 1-2 wines when we go for tastings at other wineries. But loving cup had their suggested tasting that we loved every single one! The Mulled wine was the best, so had to buy the spices. I will make it for our next gathering🍷

If you are looking for a good and clean wine, this is the place to come on the Monticello Wine Trail. Being very health conscious, clean and organic wines are important to me, but even better, clean and very tasty wines are hard to find, until you come here. We walked away with three different wines to take home, and sat and enjoyed some others. Overall the wines are a little more sweet than what I prefer but still very good. The setting is a little small, but very cute, and overall we ended up staying an hour longer than planned due to our positive experience. Come here for good wine and an intimate

Cute, quiet vineyard, just outside of Charlottesville / in North Garden. The gravel road approach is a bit long but once you arrive there is ample parking and generous outdoor space on the upper deck, the lower deck, and an option to picnic on the lawn. Sampler flight cups are paper so be careful not to let them blow away.

I had such a lovely experience here! First off, I called ahead of time and left a message asking for more information on sulfite levels in their wines. In no time at all, I received a call back from the owner (Karl) who spoke with me for about 10 minutes answering my questions and more. He even tested the sulfites after the phone call so he could give more exact numbers - talk about great service!
A friend and I went to the vineyard for a few hours and it was such a nice afternoon. The view is pretty and the winery itself is both quaint and elegant. And of course, the wine was delicious :) It
