We had to replan our wedding for three different dates due to Covid, and Delfosse was willing to work with us through it all! We finally had our wedding this November, and it was worth the wait. The vineyard in the fall is breathtaking, and guests commented on how beautiful everything was all night. We ended up having our ceremony in the "meadow" instead of at the top of the hill, but the fountain behind the altar made for an incredible backdrop. The tasting room was great for a chilly cocktail hour, and the event barn was perfect for dinner and dancing. I'm so glad we got to spend our wedding

Every time we come here, we have a wonderful time relaxing and drinking great wine in a beautiful setting. Today, the owner educated us about their newly bottled wines. I would recommend their new Go-go girl (dry but fruit forward red) or their Petite Verdot, an excellent representation of Virginia wine.

Spectacular, personalized service at this out-of-the-way winery! Found this place as part of the Virginia Governor’s Cup Gold Medal Wine Trail. Gorgeous views and plenty of seating both indoors and out. Try the Screaming Hawk or Grinning Fox! Their Rose is sublime.
Delfosse is an "estate" wine producer meaning all the grapes used to make their wines are grown on that property, an increasingly rare trait in winemaking these days.

This review is strictly for the wine. Apparently this wine gets better with age. I found this wine stashed away in our basement.
It was at my bar section which I rarely grab my wine from. We were doing some overnight traveling and I wanted something different so I grabbed it from our collection. Wowww this wine gets better with age.
We purchased this at a wine festival around four years ago.
The flavor was excellent. Semi sweet. I hate wines that taste like kool-aid. Not this one here.
If you love red wine. I suggest trying this one. Definitely not for you if you only like dry red. It's

We stopped here President's Day weekend on a rainy, snowy Saturday. They had a few socially distanced tables set up indoors for tastings - and we were actually be able to do a guided tasting for the first time since COVID! Our server came to the table to pour for us and we had several reds and whites. The winery has been under new ownership for the past few years and they are slowly transitioning from the Delfosse name to the new Mountain and Vine label. I always prefer reds over whites, and that was the case here as well. After our tasting, the owner sat at another table near us (social

Beautiful location, basking in the sun, this winery is unique. It's tiered landscape has a multi level plateaus for vines, and at various points, ponds. Trees surround the hillsides.
A sampling of the red wines were a bit underwhelming. They seemed very sweet across the board. Clearly the primary appeal here is the landscape and feel, which is outstanding.

Wine is good , setting is beautiful and safety measures in places still make it a welcoming environment. When traveling to this establishment, chose the highway option. The alternative is a backroad to a backroad small gravely mountainous route. It was so out there that the guy doing our tasting laughed when I asked for an alternative way out.

While this winery is very off the beaten path, it was worth the drive. My husband and I took a short trip to Charlottesville to tour some wineries and stumbled upon Delfosse when researching locations that were open midweek in a COVID 19 world. What a pleasant surprise! We were able to do a seated tasting which was hard to find in the current state of the world. Liz, our server, was sweet and knowledgeable. She took time to chat about the wines and answer our questions all while keeping her distance. We liked many of their wines including a few reds which we don't typically enjoy from

We came in with a large group this weekend and had a great time. Everyone in our group found something they liked. My personal fav was the grand cru olivier. Our host was kyle and he did a great job handling our large group of 11. There is plenty to see in the area, if you look at the photos you will see this is a beautiful place.

After spending Saturday in packed tasting rooms on 151, it was a relaxing and welcome treat to enjoy a personal, attentive wine tasting at Delfosse. Quiet and uncrowded, tucked into a beautiful valley, not to mention the outstanding wines, all in all a wonderful experience. Delicious crepes!! Very much enjoyed!

DelFosse is a beautiful winery and vineyards. The in-house white wines are crisp with a great finish. I like white wines and my favorite is the Deer Rock White. They do have a great wine selection, but I stick to what I like. They hold various events like their delicious Crepe Sundays and occasional dinners. I visit as often as I can because I live nearby and love the atmosphere and views.

The entire process at Delfosse, from our first venue tour to our final planning walk through, to our ceremony, to our reception - - everything was so well done.
The food and the wine at Delfosse are as outstanding as the views, which is saying a lot! The most important thing was the comfort level we felt throughout the year long planning process because of the attentive, responsive staff.
The Day of coordination was exceptional and I was so glad we decided to treat ourselves to that. The Log Cabin is absolutely magical! We also rented the cute, little farmhouse on the property and that ended

DelFosse has the picture-perfect vineyard view that you'd wish all wineries could have, and have a great wine selection. The tasting menu is considerable - you can pick from a flight of reds, whites, or a mix of both. They are also pretty big - 17 acres of grapes (including 11 varietals) so their wines are estate grown. I forgot to ask how many cases.
Kyle was my server, and despite a crowd coming in he bounced between us all and was quick to make sure our glasses weren't empty. Despite me picking the red flight, he still allowed me to have 2 whites to sample (service - check!). I also

I visited, it's wonderful, 5 stars! We went early and the Pinot Gris and the White Bordeaux blend were so nice. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The grounds are beautiful for a stroll an we ran into a couple that had stayed in the cottage on premise....jealous! My only regret was not seeing Yvette.

My mom, grandmother and I went for one of the Defosse French Crepe Days and it was fantastic. A nice selection of both sweet and savory crepes and also soup and salad. The crepe was huge! The salad portion was also very generous. Most importantly, it was delicious. Our server was very friendly and the crepes arrived quickly.
DelFosse has beautiful, breathtaking views, even in January! My mom and grandmother also did a wine tasting at the bar, which was 11 wines for $10. Their favorite was the meritage, but they also liked the merlot. We will definitely be back!!

We visited Del Fosse a couple of weekends ago with some friends. Don't let the drive along the windy gravel road fool you...this is a best kept secret that is well worth the short drive from Charlottesville!
The wines were spectacular--they had an award winning Viongier, but my favorite was the White Table Wine--it was so crisp and refreshing!
We ventured up to the rustic cabin up on the hill which offered the most beautiful view of the vineyards. The cabin is definitely on our "must-do list" to return to stay. It was so cute and quaint, and the wrap-around porch just invited

Had a great experience here! We did the full 12 tastings and the server knew a lot about the wines and was knowledgable about pairings and how the wines would taste on the pallet. The vineyards are beautiful and well managed by their new caretakers. Will definitely be visiting again! Would be a great location for a wedding!

Perfectly adequate wine tasting, nothing fantastic.
Most wines were really on the sweet side but not without merit. The Viognier was the best by my standard, very sweet but crisp enough when cold. We also bought a bottle of Petit Verdot, the best of their reds.
I have to say the tasting experience was less than stellar. The venue was brand new and the rest rooms were clean and sparkling but access to them was through a food prep area. Odd! The tasting room, also new and pleasant appearing was incredibly loud and annoying. One would think that a room specifically built for this purpose

We were not sure if we were going to keep our wine club membership, but the pig roast for member appreciation we attended last night may have kept my wife and I on board. We had not attended any of the events they offered over the last 9 months we had been a member, and I told my wife on the way that this would be a good gauge of whether our membership was worth it.
I do see the potential for some of the service issues I have read about, but as far

Excellent food, awesome customer service, majestic grounds, and good wines makes DelFosse a must-visit winery.
I'll start this review off by admitting a slight bias - I took full advantage of the the Delfosse groupon, which included a short tour of the beautiful stepped-vineyard, two wine glasses as souvenirs, and all the food I'll be discussing for $25 for two people. If it's still available, please take full advantage of this excellent deal.

I have been to many of the vineyards in the state of Virginia, and this has to be one of my favorites. While the wines are not anything to write home about, I do like the friendliness of the staff and the ambiance of the tasting room.
Also, I don't know if this is something they regularly do, but while I was there they had a lunch special. I had the tuna sandwich. While it wasn't cheap, it was certainly worth every penny. The nice lady working in the kitchen came out and delivered the sandwiches to our table. This was probably the best tuna sandwich I've ever had, I don't know

DelFosse is one of my top favorite Virginia wineries. It's owned by a couple from France and the wines are very high quality. You can do a regular tasting or a reserve, which includes extra bottles of wine. By the time you get there, you might as well spring for the reserve. The cheese plate is also a great deal. You get a huge platter of cheese. It makes a great accompaniment for a tasting or glass of wine.
The Grand Cru Olivier, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga and Petit Verdot that's named for the owner's son is consistently one of my favorite Virginia reds. I'm also
