I wouldn't let my dad help me so I crashed all day until I figured it out. I was instantly hooked. In the winter my mom wouldn't let me ride outside so I would ride my bike in circles in our basement.
When I was 12 I took my bike apart, painted it, and put it back together. There were parts left over but it still worked. At 13 I bought my first road bike with my own money. I mowed lawns, walked dogs, painted houses, and did any other odd job I could find for a year to save up for it. It was too big, but I didn't care.

Great customer service and talented mechanics. My bike wasn’t shifting properly and they got me in within a few days and put on a new derailleur cable and serviced the rear hub. The drive train is working great now and the rear wheel is spinning quietly and efficient. Great work and thanks for getting my bike ready for many more miles!!

Great service and quick turnaround! The team of mechanics at Johnny Sprockets were friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service! I had 1 bike needing a new wheel, and two needing an upgrade on the bottom bracket, and they had all the work done within a day or two! They kept me updated on what was needed (the bike needing the wheel had a few unexpected needs) and all 3 bikes are working super now! Would recommend this shop to anyone needing service on their bike, and from looking around, would also recommend for picking up a new bike or parts. Thank you!!

I have been going to Johnny Sprockets since they were located on Bryn Mawr. I have bought 2 bikes over this decade+ timeframe and had every tuneup for both done here and I've never wanted to go to another bike shop! The guys are knowledgeable, professional and always treat me well. Their prices are fair and their work is top notch! I will always recommend them to anyone looking for a bike or service.

I had rear wheel slipping issue due to me trying to convert my gear bike to single speed, which is not recommended on the frame I have. Adam was very professional, knowledgeable, patient, and most importantly honest and tried to help me save money. Overall a great local bike shop and having an employee like Adam is a huge blessing to the shop in my opinion. Great job guys!!!

Needed some modifications and a tune up on my fat bike. This shop was very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job on my bike at a great price. I had purchased tires and rims through an outside third party that did not work and the shop did not charge me anything for the labor they incurred to try and make it work. They offered suggestions which I took and got the right components which they then installed. Bike runs great and is as smooth as silk. Thanks for the awesome job.

For bicycle repair, I highly recommend Johnny Sprocket's in Andersonville. They were super helpful in discussing possible options for repairing my bicycle (which had multiple problems) and the associated costs, and they got the repairs done quickly and very reasonably for how much work it ended up needing. Super nice and professional and happy to answer questions and discuss things.

After waiting all summer to get my hands on a bike, JS had the one i wanted in stock! My friend referred me here as he had an excellent experience. They called me a day after I called them to check stock and said they just had received one! I appreciate that!
Pick up experience was less than thrilling and my overall experience was alright.
I understand bikes are sold out and one may be tired saying "sold out", but don't show your annoyance.

One of the best bike shops in Chicago.
These guys keep me rolling year round. The staff is friendly, helpful, and do a great job of making it easy to get on the repair schedule. I really appreciate that when you get your bike back they take the time to show you the work that was done.
When I got my bottom bracket replaced they took the time to show me the old parts so I could see what worn out bearings look like.
I've also bought a bike here as well and am very happy with the 2 year free tune-up package that comes with new bikes.

Brought my bike in for a tune-up. On the more expensive end ($210 for a basic tune up + new tire & chain). When picking up my bike, the person on the floor was assistancing another customer and did not acknowledge me at all. 5 minutes go by. Nothing. 10 minutes go by nothing. Finally, a sales lady from the back comes to assist me and get me checked out for my tune-up. The original person on the floor does not move at their sole register while sales lady stands next to him. She takes a call and heads to the back again and tells the sales guy to get me checked out. Just relocated to Chicago by way of Atlanta from the Finger Lakes region of New York in a single year and was lamenting that every time I find a favorite bike shop I move again for work. Took my Diverge in to have the front derailleur adjusted, which the original shop never did get right, and Jay replaced the cable and adjusted while I waited. It has never shifted better. The staff was friendly and attentive the moment I walked in the door. Great job!

I brought my trail bike in for repair after I blew the axel on my rear wheel. I knew that they couldn't fix it, but they looked to see if it could be saved. Ultimately, they determined that they needed to replace the wheel. They told me the cost of the new wheel and said that since I was a new customer, the cost of labor was cut in half. :0

Great bike store. Every time I walk in they are super nice and on occasion offer me a beer. When I walked in looking for a bike a few years back they were very attentive of my needs and wants. Knowing that I was a cash strapped post college buyer they were very supportive of my price point and tried to get me the best deal for my buck.

I bought my Specialized performance road bike from them in 2014 and I love it. In 2016 or so, I found a large dent in the down tube of the aluminum frame after it sitting on a bike rack for a few hours.
I tried to find out if there was anything I could do, and I found out through a completely different retailer that JS does crash repairs for a discounted rate if you purchased the bike through them. They offered to get a replacement frameset and sell it to me at a discount, but the frameset was no longer available. They did virtually nothing to help me resolve this and I had to keep pinging them

Johnny Sprockets is the BEST bike shop in Chicago. All of the folks that work there are knowledgeable and are really interested in making sure your biking needs are met. My girlfriend brought her bike in for a tune up and they discovered a slight crack in the frame and informed because it wouldn't be safe to ride, they wouldn't do the tune up. Manuel the owner, informed her, that the bike had a lifetime warranty, so she was entitled to a new bike. Very happy with this store. I've bought 2 bikes here, a Giant and a Specialized Allez. The later is my favorite for miles and cardio, while former is a utility and loaner.
Free tune ups for the first year and a great selection of peripherals. I use the Half Evil Endurance Fuel (Orange) for longer rides and gym workouts, anything "legs."

This is the best bike shop I've found in Chicago! I brought my bike in to get some air in the tires and learn how to fix a flat tire (just in case). Sam offered me a free lesson on how to fix a flat tire. He was so knowledgable, helpful and patient as I tried it myself. I ended up getting new tires and left a very happy customer.
I scheduled a follow up appointment to get a new chain as well!

I stopped by Johnny Sprockets because I thought I had some damage to my front tire while it was in storage over the winter. Scott was able to make a minor adjustment and fix the issue. I also thought I might have a leak in one of my tires and Scott kept the bike overnight to see if it needed to be replaced. He called in the morning and everything was fine. Friendly staff, great follow up and fantastic customer service!

Johnny Sprockets is my go to place when it comes to anything cycling related. Johnny Sprockets is a little further from my house but it is definitely worth the extra walking. I love the store layout and all of the workers that I have encountered have been extremely pleasant.

I've dealt with Manny and he was nothing but accommodating the entire process.
I have a slight disorder where I'm the most difficult high maintenance customer someone has to deal with.
It's not bad it's just gotta be MY WAY. yes. I have issues.
So when it came to working with Manny I don't think he knew what he was getting into.
I purchased a fat bike from them and they made the entire process painless. I bought the bike unassembled. I then HAD to make it "mine."
Once it was all repainted it went for assembly. These dudes killed it!! One of the best bicycle
