Services
Brothers Ben, Julius, and Carl Davis founded Davis Bakery in July of 1939. The first location was on South Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights. The brothers kept a promise requested by their father to never use lard in any of the bakery products. To this day, that promise has been honored.
Working with a tight budget, the brothers did not have enough money to purchase a commercial mixer; therefore, their first mixer was coin operated, requiring quarters to be inserted before each use.Eventually, this is how the mixer was financed. A combination of sharp business acumen and vast knowledge and experience in baking, put the brothers' company on the path to success.

Davis Bakery remains committed to providing our clientele with high quality, handcrafted, made from scratch pastries. While most of our competitors make just a few different types of dough for their whole product line, we produce a unique dough for almost every product we offer. While we can talk all day about our baked goods, we strongly urge you to just try for yourself.
We do not believe in using preservatives in any of our bread formulas, so you're guaranteed a fresh loaf of bread on a daily basis. While our famous Jewish rye bread ~made from the same sour starter we've been using since 1939~ is the cornerstone of our bread line, our other offerings should not be kept in the dark.
Obviously the Coconut Bar has been enjoyed by several generations of bakery lovers. However, our fudgy Brownies, Unbelievable Peanut Butter Bars, Magic Bars, Coconut Key Lime Bars, Lemon Squares or Carmel Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar may be the next item to leave a legacy on northeast Ohioans for years to come.
Our meticulously crafted Danish dough requires a rigorous hand-folded process, which results in a flaky, yet soft, layered pastry. Fillings include but are not limited to: cheese, cherry, apricot, apple, lemon, poppy seed, maple nut and chocolate.
Our coffee cakes are still handcrafted, using Old World baking techniques and formulas; consequently, we produce a unique and unparalleled product, such as our Cinnamon Nut kuchen, Chocolate Babka or Cinnamon Raisin bread.Made fresh everyday, our coffee cakes and Danish are the perfect compliment to your next brunch.

Gosh, there's so much going on here. All of it simply irresistible.
I came for the deli which dominates one side of the establishment. You can order ginormous, meaty sandwiches to go like I did, or buy ready-made deli items by the pound. The "Tribe" sandwich, for example, proved the right choice. A huuuuge heap of corned beef, hot pastrami, swiss, cole slaw, and thousand island jammed in between two hearty slices of grilled rye. Still, so much filling that I thinned things down by fork before I was able to grip what was left with my hands.

I have patronized
Davis Bakery for quite sometime over the years.
Personally and for my Job at UH.
This visit left me thinking that the staff needs to work on customer service especially when it's not one of there very regular patron they call by name. One of
my small issue was while paying I handed my card for payment. The cashier threw it on the counter after the transaction.
Not very professional.
A couple of other things
Didn't set well with me
Sure they don't care they got my cash.

All I wanted was some nice Jewish style deli, which just doesn't exist in Cincinnati. My wife and I took a corned beef road trip and Davis really met the need. My new yorker sandwich was exactly what I was looking for. The sandwich was great. My wife's chicken matzoh ball soup was yummy and we took some treats on the road.
I forsee more roadtrips to come!

Called about ordering a carrot cake to pick up on Sunday. I asked about the price for a six inch (standard size cake).
The woman who answered the phone got snippy and said "First of all, we don't have six inch cakes", and didn't volunteer what size they had. I then asked what the smallest size cake is, and she said seven inch. I then had to ask again about the price. I never got the price, because she cut me off and asked when I need it by. When I said Sunday, she said "Nah, I can't do that." and then hung up.
Awful customer service! I won't order anything from them!

Waited 30 min for soup and a sandwich after calling ahead. Wish i walked out and went somewhere else. Wont be back. Opened my sandwich to find 2 pieces of bread with meat slapped in the middle. Not exactly a NY deli sandwich. Dry. Bland. Certainly no effort. Wasted $20. After calling to complain i was hung up on for legitimately being disappointed and expecting a reason other than what i got which was "we were busy" thats why your sandwich was wrong. I am intending on getting a refund. What a horrible experience!!

I have to update my review. This place opens at 7a.m., so I stopped in for. Corned beef on rye with spicy mustard and extra pickle. The lady behind the bakery counter FORCED ME to get a nut covered cinnamon roll and a bear claw!! I had to eat EVERYTHING when I got to work. Just saying, I feel really happy...

Stopped in for lunch today and this place BLEW MY MIND. Everyone was incredibly friendly and clearly loved working there. I was offered a free sample of a coconut bar/cake and olive bread. I got the Joe's italian sandwich to go and literally moaned out loud while eating it. Then I had the coconut thing and was elevated to the next level of heaven. To top it all off, they are reasonably priced and family run.
I've found my weekly staple for lunch!

A local area bakery with lots of history. The kids and I love their assortment of bakery items. Everything from cookies to cakes. Everything is always reasonably priced. So far its the only place I've tried Paczki's. They also offer food like sandwiches from their deli department and an assortment of refreshment options. I'm still getting used to all of the local favorite types of bakery goods this place caters too. They seem to be open early til late, and practically every day.

I think I found my favorite deli. It is old school where the deli meats are on point and they are tasty. The staff is old school but give you that hurry up and order vibe but they love their good food and service is on point. My hot pastrami sandwich is the best I have had since moving to the Midwest.

Ambiance: The place is a hodgepodge of different setups including a deli counter, bakery counter, and restaurant seating nestled in the back. They seem to operate pretty independently of each other however. The service at the dessert counter was a little lacking as the lady felt like being at work was the last thing she wanted to do.
Food: I got a sampling of pastries including an apple fritter, cherry turnover, apricot Russian tea biscuit, and triple berry bar. All-in-all everything was great! The turnover was flaky, airy, and generously filled with a standard sweet cherry filling. The apricot
