Services
Referrals to WPHP protect the lives of health-care professionals and the patients they serve. Existing state and federal laws allow WPHP to protect the identity of participants and referent(s) as long as they are compliant with WPHP recommendations and do not pose a risk to themselves or their patients.
WPHP provides early intervention, assessment, treatment referral and post-treatment monitoring for health professionals who may not be able to practice safely due to an impairing or potentially impairing health condition. In some cases, support and referral are all that is needed to put concerns to rest.
WPHP participants are the true experts on our program and have volunteered to share their experience with WPHP. Read on for stories from the health professionals, their employers and loved ones!. Today is my last day under contract with WPHP and the experience has been as positive as possible. I was treated well.
While not required, WPHP is a nonprofit organization that appreciates any charitable donations (honoraria) and/or travel support the host organization is able to provide. Due to high demand for speaking engagements, WPHP recommends submitting requests with ample advanced notice, typically several months or more, prior to your scheduled event.
WPHP's mission is to facilitate the rehabilitation of health-care professionals who have health conditions that could compromise patient safety and to monitor their recovery. The Washington Physicians Health Program was founded in 1986 by a group of concerned members of the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) who wanted their colleagues to receive treatment, rather than discipline, when illness threatened safe practice.
