Services
Osteopathic Medicine is the full practice of medicine and more! As Osteopathic Physicians we are guided by the Osteopathic philosophy both in our hands on treatment and in our medical and surgical management. The Osteopathic philosophy holds that the body is a unit. When part of the body is unhealthy it affects the whole.
Development is rapid in many different areas, particularly during the transition from infant to toddler. Osteopathy provides support for the body and the brain through these changes by releasing strain caused by rapid and sometimes asymmetric growth. We also release strains caused by repeated or occasionally severe bumps to the head and sacrum which occur as the toddler learns to negotiate the world in a new way.
In the first 12-24 hours after treatment avoid unnecessary lifting, bending and twisting, as well as intense exercise. Athletes, performers, and those who do physical work may not be able to avoid the above activities, but will still generally benefit from treatment. If possible allow at least 24 hours between this treatment and any other manual modality, including massage and acupuncture.
For infants and toddlers you can bring along a couple favorite toys or a binky (if you are using one). I have toys to help distract during treatment. IPODs with children's applications, cell phones with pictures, or cameras with short videos can be helpful during challenging treatments. We will work as a team to keep your little one as happy as possible through the treatment!
I first heard of Osteopathic medicine as a premedical student in college. A good friend of mine told me about a medical school nearby where one could become a fully licensed physician with a holistic philosophy and exceptional hands-on diagnosis and treatment skills. It was clear to me almost immediately that this was the type of physician I wanted to become.

My daughter was born with torticollis and we were referred to Dr Cavanaugh, after having a really traumatic experience with another doctor. Dr. Cavanaugh was able to diagnose the extent of the trauma to her neck and spine. He was so incredibly gentle and kind with our 6 month old baby, yet his techniques were highly effective. He gave us exercises we could do at home, which helped so much! He has a special gift and we were so lucky to find him!!!

Dr Cavanaugh is incredible! I moved away from Seattle and haven't been able to find an osteopath that can fix all my aches, pains and injuries the way he can. I've had lower back issues most of my adult life. His adjustments/manipulations are amazingly subtle, healing and kept me mobile and functional. If you're lucky to live near him I wouldn't hesitate to make an appointment. 1st time appointments are longer and there might be a wait, so plan ahead. Dr Cavanaugh is well worth it!

We saw Dr. Cavanaugh for our three month old daughter's therapy post tongue frenulum release. Dr Cavanaugh has an amazing touch. I sure think that his therapy sessions helped in order to get full benefit from the frenactomy. He also pointed out couple of other things that would have gone un-noticed by us otherwise. We didn't know much about Osteopathic medicine until the body work was recommended by our specialist. Dr Cavanaugh handles babies very well and our little girl has been doing very well since!

I've been a patient of Stephen Cavanaugh for many years and received good care from both him and his staff. The doctor has aided me where others could not and got me up and walking again. His receptionist has been responsive, professional, friendly and helpful. From paperwork to scheduling to call backs, I've always gotten exactly what I needed efficiently, timely and correct. I am grateful for their partnership and good service.

We are so thankful that we found Dr. Cavanaugh!!
Our youngest son was absolutely miserable for most of his first year -- screaming in pain and unable to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time. At 9 months old we finally realized that he was having trouble emptying his bladder and that the screaming would cease each time he would urinate. We also noticed our son seemed to have difficulty with movement in his left leg and he'd had chronic constipation since birth. We saw both a urologist and neurologist at Childrens and although they were able to confirm the bladder problem they
