The King County Academy of Family Physicians (KCAFP) is a professional medical society dedicated to maintaining high standards of family medicine. Family medicine is the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family. It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences.
The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, all sexes, each organ system, and every disease entity. Sarah is committed to making sports and body movement accessible and welcoming for all; she believes in the power of sports to improve health, happiness, and equity. After a collegiate running career, Sarah became a Family Doctor, practicing in the Community Health Center setting.

Our mission is to advance and support Family Physicians in King County in providing optimal health care to all people. The vision of KCAFP is to transform health care to achieve optimal health for all people.
The King County Academy of Family Physicians was established in 1948 in conjunction with the American Academy of General Practice and the Washington Academy of General Practice.
The AAGP resulted from a spontaneous movement among groups of general practitioners, in a number of states, who where convinced that progress and advancement in the general practice of medicine and surgery were basic not only to the welfare of the people of America but also to the medical profession.

Pre-Pandemic the Board of Directors met monthly at 6:30pm on the first Thursday of the month at Swedish Cherry Hill. For the 2020-2021 program year we will follow WA State Guidelines on whether to meet in-person or virtual. All members are invited to attend the meetings. For more information, please contact KCAFP.

The King County Academy of Family Physicians prioritizes the health and safety when putting on events. In 2020, 68 family medicine residents looking for employment options attend this event. The biggest plus for this event is that it has the potential to reach all 157 family medicine residents in the State of WA in their third year and any second years that are looking to sign early.
