Wayward Vegan Cafe
Wayward Vegan Cafe proudly serves veganized American diner style food. Large portions, bottomless coffee, and friendly service have made us a beloved part of the Seattle community. Wayward Vegan Cafe was established in 2004, in a residential space that had been serving the vegetarian community for 30 years.

In 2008, Wayward was about to shutter, when friends Tami Blanchette, Colin Blanchette, Doh Driver, and Dennis Buffaloe came together to save the last vegan breakfast cafe in Seattle. Within a year, we'd outgrown the little house, and moved to a larger spot on The Ave. We expanded to dinner service, and added beer and wine.

Just a few minutes north of university and walking distance to the Ravenna, right off the highway, on 65th street this staple sits awaiting your every vegan desire. A standard American diner but Vegan! They have all your comfort foods and feel-good classics with plant-based variations. Yes, it’s easy to go towards the unhealthy side if you over-do it but there’s plenty of middle of the road options for either health-conscious or munchie addicts. The service was good and they were kind over the telephone as well as when making a few simple customizations. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted

5 stars for the waffles and biscuits, which are EXCELLENT. The actual vegan fare is kind of weak though - the vegan eggs, sausage, and gravy were all rather mediocre. But the absolutely delicious waffles and biscuits saved the meal!

It's a nice full vegan cafe that serves everything from breakfast to dinner. Lots of options to choose from. Had the pasta, Benedict and french toast. Pasta was a but dry, but maybe because of home delivery food that took almost 60mins. Benedict was savoury and tasty. French toast was the best, though it was a little hard which made it hard to cut. Would recommed this place, definitely for first timers.

I'm sorry but I have given this restaurant so many chances! After the first time, I gave up on ever being impressed and hoped to just not be disappointed but even then my expectations aren't low enough, apparently. There is nothing special about the food here at all, it's literally basic diner fare that you could make just as easily at home and probably better at that. This is one of those places that suffers from a yet unnamed syndrome I've noticed is prominent with long-standing, "OG" veg restaurants. These type of restaurants offered veg food before others, sometimes

This is our new favorite restaurant! The food is delicious! And they have a huge menu! They are only pick up orders right now. we ordered online and picked up. parking is difficult but not impossible. There is a small parking lot in the back but the lines are faded so the spaces between the cars are not all big enough for you to park. We were lucky and someone left and we got their spot. The staff is friendly. We got the biscuits and gravy combo and it was amazing! The biscuits and gravy have so much flavor! We also got the chicken sandwich with bacon cheese fries and it was amazing! We shared

The portions are generous but the food was bland and looked like it was a little rushed. However, I didn't go back again so maybe it was a one off. Either way, the menu has SO many options and being vegan I can appreciate that. Hoping I can try this place again after I heal from jaw surgery and post an updated review!

Hadn't eaten here since before COVID-19 hit. I was craving some Mozzarella wedges and Mac N Cheese, ordered, pick it up. When I got to the car I couldn't wait to try a mozz wedge since again (I was craving them!!) It was really hot and gooey, but there was an odd flavor. The aftertaste was similar to what I would describe as freezer burn.

The Mac N Cheese left much to be desired as well. It tastes like they meted Daiya Chedder shreds onto pasta. The consistency is nice and creamy, but the flavor is not what I would call 2021 Vegan Comfort food. Perhaps they could get away with it 10

This place was AMAZING! My friends and I decided to finally try this place out after months of it being on our lists of places to try! I got The Ex-Benedict and it was very good but I am not too much of a savory person and to me the sauce was a bit much and it overpowered the whole bite a lot but it was still pretty decent and it came with a side of hash browns that were so fresh and good, my goodness! My friend got a Santa Fe Hash and we all tried it and WOW I wish I had gotten that, it was so good that I still couldn't believe it was all vegan! Our other friend got some sort of wrap, can

Only available for takeout right now which was slightly disappointing but the food was amazing. My Omni friend loved the french toast and the biscuits were a highlight for me. I wish the kale had been better seasoned throughout (not just the top layer). Overall a wonderful place with fantastic food.

Whoa buddy I am so happy we found this place. We actually road tripped up twice and missed it the first time due to the new hours and we managed to make it in the 2nd time right before they're doing their floors and I'm glad we did cause the food was delicious! French toast was amazing. Deadly but a perfect 2nd dish to accompany the other savory dishes we got. We also got the biscuit mountain with country gravy and the good morning crunchwrap. The biscuit mountain is no joke when it comes to serving size you will be full and the gravy was excellent and they gave us plenty which is my

I'm updating my review because the owners reached out to me and provided their ingredients for one dish that left me super bloated. I have a nearly nonexistent history with bloating so when it happened after a couple bites of the Down home Platter it was pretty bizarre.

Nonetheless, it was only one dish. I'll stick to the simpler items if I ever come back. Like the LumberJack Breakfast is my jam! So much protein and the pancakes are classic. I encourage you to ask for detailed ingredient lists to assist in smarter ordering choices. I feel a bit more hesitant about trying new things

They were doing takeout only when I went. This place was AMAZING. SO GOOD. DELICIOUS!!!!! I got the magic Alfredo noodles and they were so bomb, I haven't had Alfredo noodles since I turned vegan, and this really hit the spot. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles which were also so good and the Mac n cheese which was not really that good at al (wouldn't recommend getting that one). Their chicken tastes pretty real but it might just be bc it's a bit saltier which covered up the soy flavor. Overall this place is SUCH A GREAT PLACE FOR VEGANS!!! Highly recommend!!! I'm honestly surprised that this place doesn't have 5 stars! The first time I tried to come here, there was a line out the door so we decided to cut our losses and head somewhere else instead- now I see why this cafe is so popular. I ordered the sunshine omlette and I don't know what I expected, but my first impression is that I was surprised by how much it looked just like real eggs. The sauces that are used to flavor it are literally perfect and it tasted great! I enjoyed it so much that I ordered the chicken and waffles to take home as well. As a southerner I didn't have high hopes for anything

I had an amazing crunch wrap here, with so much goodness packed into it that I couldn't finish it all! And it… came atop a huge bed of home fries with an extra side of amazing mushroom gravy! I can't recommend their food enough. Eat here ASAP!

I got the WVC Platter and liked it! It was $16.52 after tax.
Super large portion --it came with (1) a full biscuit (split in half and toasted), (2) a drumstick, (3) a meatless patty, (4) kale with nutritional yeast, and (5) a container of their mac&cheese! Definitely enough to last at least 2-3 meals I think!

In terms of flavor, everything was relatively mild except for the kale (because of the nutritional yeast), but they offer extra to-go containers of hot sauce, barbecue sauce, and nutritional yeast so you can customize it to your tastes!

Everything had a great and fresh texture, though

I loved it! I was hesitant to give this place a try at first since the food did not look too pleasing from the photos. however, the food might not be the healthiest (for vegan food) but it sure hit home! I can't find what I had on their online menu but it was a muffin sandwich with a slice of grilled tofu, cheese, and sausage. Not going to lie, it tasted like the McDonald's Egg McMuffin *which I miss!*. We also had the pancake (tasted exactly how my mom made it when I was a child).
The Biscuit and Gravy combo were not that good. Too dry and lacked flavor but I was told by my partner that the Tots
