Blackbird Cafe
The place Debbie had in mind had a unique menu, fresh quality food, a dog-friendly outdoor dining area, and an artistic atmosphere, all at a fair price. That is exactly what you will find at the Blackbird Cafe on the corner of Wardlow and Orange in Long Beach, CA.

In addition to a simple but adventurous menu, (soy chorizo wrap anyone?), the Blackbird offers fresh and delicious mimosas and bloodymarys; a great selection of beers; and a modest but sophisticated wine selection. The Blackbird is about connecting, and staying connected. Debbie chose to set up shop in Cal Heights because it is an up and coming, if not already here, neighborhood.

Incredibly delicious. I got the the spicy Mexican omelet with hashbrowns. No ketchup or tabasco needed, the flavors were so good and cooked perfectly. Only patient patrons should consider bc they are very busy. Will definitely return

There's no better breakfast spot in Long Beach. I know those are fighting words but I dare you to prove me wrong. This place is hands down the best of the best. If you like eggs benedict then the Dos Caballeros is a must try. Poached eggs on top of a potato and soyriso hash on top of homemade sopes covered in a Mexican flavored hollandaise. A truly unique and delicious experience. Their pancakes are huge and fluffy. I love their blueberry pancakes which come with huge fresh blueberries in them. If you like coffee and something sweet their cinnawhip is a treat (a generous cup of coffee topped

FINALLY tried a new Eggs Benedict!! Their Chicken Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict are WAY better than expected!! Whoever came up with this is a Genius!! The flavors were On Point!!! So glad I ordered this instead of a special. My ONLY complaint is that today my hashbrowns didn't show up with my meal. They were brought to me as I was taking my last bite of Eggs Benedict. So bummed cause because I was craving them!! Bit it's all good. My boyfriend ended up enjoying then with the rest of his breakfast lol. Again!!! Their waitresses are awesome!! Next time I will make sure to get

Blackbird Cafe is the perfect example of a small corner neighborhood cafe. They're in the California Heights neighborhood of Long Beach and a favorite in the area. Here's what I had on my most recent visit.

I went with the Juan Wayne. This dish features three fried corn tortillas underneath refried black beans, barbacoa beef, two over eggs over easy and topped with spicy ranchero sauce, cheese, onion, sour cream and cilantro and also gets served with a sausage link and two strips of bacon. I added avocado to mine and chose Tater Tots as my side.

The ranchero sauce was spicy with

This was my 1st time eating from here and had heard great things about it. I called in an order for pick up and took it home. I opened up my tofu dish that I had ordered and paid extra for a side of avocado and got this rotten, black avocado in there! I gave the benefit of the doubt and scraped off the top to see if the heat damaged it but it was rotten though. It also did not come with any toast or "loaf" as mentioned. Not to mention that the dish itself had zero flavor.

The Tuna Melt was room temp, with soft bread and as you can see, the slice of cheese was not melted at all. What

All across the board this place was great. Small seating area but they were very quick. I could see that every person on the floor filled whatever role that needed to be filled at the time. They were quick with drinks and food. I got a carnitas torta with french fries and it was all perfect. The carnitas had great flavor with a soft bolillo roll but it still had nice crispy edges and the fries looked pale but were still crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. 100% recommend this place.

Came earlier today because we were going to be in the Long Beach area and decided to grab a bite before going to the Aquarium. This place is located near some residential streets (where we parked) and offers indoor and outdoor seating. This place looks small on the inside but there are two rooms that can sit maybe 50 or more people at one time and includes bar seating.

My husband got the Cubano Benedict (has pork, ham, and cheese) along with one side of pancake because he wanted to try it. He liked the pancake, which was slightly sweet and ate it without maple syrup. As far as the benedict goes

Lil spot with some outdoor seating. Staff very friendly and we saw many families dining or waiting to dine here. Looked like a popular casual date/friend catch-up spot as well. Food was yummy (got a burger and cuban benedict). We were seated quickly but took a long while to get our food - clearly a one-off thing bc parties after us took a bit to get seated but got their food pretty quickly.

We found this incredible treasure for breakfast on way to Dignity Health Park. We didn't really want Dennys, CoCos or Joaquin en La Caja. The menu served the 4 in our group exquisitely to satisfy our diverse desires. Our friends don't eat meat and we were all quite satisfied with the menu. Just sitting down reviewing the menu and watching the plates come out was intriguing what the plate was. We ordered coffee which has a strong kick to it. Good for the 2 hour drive up from San Diego. After reviewing the menu I ordered the Cubano Benedict with hash browns. Tasty and if you like

I've never been more blown away by the difference of my experience vs. the Yelp reviews. Hard to even really write this with 1400 reviews and 4 stars but I have to because of the inedible food I was served.
I got the eggs Benedict and the sauce was totally split, I couldn't eat it it just tasted like oily melted old butter. I don't know how the server or the cook was OK sending it out. The OJ is from concentrate, not even Florida's own or something similar.
I do not understand how this place is so well rated. Service was fine.

I love this place! It's been my go-to spot to get a breakfast burrito for the last few years, and I've tried a few other things on the menu too. Their grilled veggie sandwich is delicious, soups are good, and breakfast is my favorite.

It's a family & friends-run restaurant without a lot of frill, but I wouldn't call it a hole in the wall. Clean, casual, bright, and airy with comfortable, properly spaced seating and a cute counter to sit at. Service is almost always great, but they do get wildly busy on weekends and holidays. I'd expect nothing less from such a popular

This place is amazing!! As soon as you walk in you are immediately greeted with a smile. The atmosphere was very welcoming. We were seated right away at the booth. Because this was our first time here, it took a while for us to look at the menu. EVERYTHING on the menu sounds so good here. I had a very difficult time trying to decide what to order. I ended up ordering the El Camaron omelet with Spanish sausage, shrimp, potatoes, onions, and cheese, which came with a side. I ordered tater tots. You also chose between corn tortillas or toast. This place is NOT stingy with the shrimp and sausage. With

We finally made it to BBC. Prior to the pandemic, you had to wait an eternity to eat here. Rest assured, they are roaring back to life. We happened to go here during the week where it was only half full instead of lines running down the block.

They serve the full gamut of breakfast and lunch fare. However, breakfast/brunch is the main reason that people come here. So, we made it a good breakfast experience. We ordered the Spanish Omelette and french toast (thank you for sharing). The Spanish sausage in the omelette was outstanding. It brought all of the flavors together. Throw in some of their

The food was so good, the waitress was so awesome, but the door was left open and the flies started coming in. We were fighting flies the whole time and lost the battle. They comped our meal but I would rather have eaten a good breakfast here instead of inhaling food so the flies wouldn't get it lol. Good experience, just would have been amazing without flies. The sopes breakfast with shrimp was absolutely amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Fast service, friendly staff and DELICIOUS food. A close girlfriend highly recommended this place for months and she finally took me.

She ordered us the Mexican Hot Chocolate. This was so smooth, velvety, rich and sweet, that I took a cup home.

Dos Callaberos: side of fresh fruit, added avocado and had my eggs over-easy. Oh. So. Flavorful. Add some hot sauce on top and it's a chef's kiss. They don't skimp on the side portions either. The fruit was crisp and fresh which I thoroughly appreciated (most side fruits are pitiful, soggy grapes

This used to be my solid breakfast spot, and of course I am sure they took a hit during the pandemic. The food is still good but their outdoor seating is especially limited and their brunch hours are cut short by an hour (they now close at 2pm). If you show up at 1 for example, there's a high likelihood that you won't be seated. Love that they offer sprouts on their burgers and sandwiches. I feel like you can hardly find that anymore.

Their breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros and shrimp Migos are pretty yummy

Great spot for breakfast (& lunch most likely, we've just been for breakfast) within walking distance of our home. Decent, clean space for seating both inside & outside with friendly staff and delicious food. Absolutely awesome eggs Benedict offerings along with pretty much anything else you could want for breakfast, savory or sweet. I was skeptical of the prices, but the portions are incredibly generous. We'll certainly be returning!

Hidden little gem! If it wasn't for my friend coming down from Washington I probably wouldn't have made it here. The Mexican Benedict's alone can be devoured in a second. The sauce definitely made have them the extra kick of goodness. Creamy, thick and flavorful.

The pancakes get 1000 stars as they were fluffy, thick and savory.

The one thing I didn't get to try were the mimosas. (DD) definitely will next time.

Try getting there early. We got there at 10 am on a Sunday and there was already a 30 minute wait.

Love coming to this LB breakfast spot after a morning of antique hunting at the nearby monthly Long Brach Antique Market.

This is the first time back since Covid. Some changed to note:

1) they don't take reservations and currently only outdoor sitting which are 2 tables for 2 and 2 tables for 4-6 people. Our wait at 12:45pm was about 45 min.

2) glad to see same friendly servers and the food was still as good as I remembered.

3) everything was served in to go containers. They do offer refills on the drinks.

4) do be aware that their brunch ends at 2pm. So take that into consideration
