Since 1976, Culver City has been a place where you can go for authentic, tropically-inspired, cuisines cooked from scratch. That place is called, Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe, and we're excited to add a catering selection to our list of cafe menu offerings. Over the years, people have come to our patio to enjoy dishes such as loco moco, katsu chicken, and savory short ribs.
But now, they can also bring home full trays of BBQ chicken, Hawaiian-style fried rice, sweet rolls, and macaroni salad. It was one of my favorite restaurant for Saturday morning breakfast almost every other Saturday I've been there for dine in or I do take out.
All the time I paid by cash or credit card but this time was little different.
after I finished my breakfast I asked for the check and I seen there is a bar code and "SCAN And pay" on the check.
So I scan and paid through online and there was a 15% coupon so I did applied the 15% off coupon while it's pop up on my screen.
Then the old lady came to me and she was very rude because I applied 15% off
she was kind of yelling at me you should

Breakfast spot not to be missed. Everything here is good. We have Hawaiian royalle and eggs with Portuguese sausage. The boy likes French toast make with Kings Hawaiian bread cut by hand into wedges. Excellent

We just can't stop going to Rutts. They have the best breakfast and lunch. Everything they have is great. You can get it to go or eat there. We love to eat there. The place is small and parking is on the street, but you will get a table, it may just take a few minutes.
Their service is so kind and friendly. They will get you were food fast and hot.
We love their Portuguese sausage royal. Get the smaller size so you have room for other delights.
They have something for everyone, even a vegan and you will love whatever you have.

Have always wanted to try Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe and just recently was able to do so for lunch and I have to say it did not disappoint. In the Covid-era, they have set up sidewalk seating in front of the restaurant and patio seating under the patio covers of their take out area by their parking lot. What I really love is they brought a taste of the island to the main land, including the portion sizes of their dishes. Most of the greatest hits of Hawaiian cuisine are here, less the poke which I did not see. However, plate lunches, macaroni salad, loco moco, the royale, etc...it's a winner

Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe has my heart! My boss had this wonderful place catered to my coworkers and I at work for a luncheon. I literally have ZERO complaints about the food and quality here. Every single dish was delicious and left me wanting more! My only regret is that I didn't take any pictures. I absolutely loved the "love mac salad" and the Bbq chicken. The bbq chicken was juicy and flavorful I enjoyed every bite. Our catering order also had some egg rolls and they were delicious as well- not many places can make egg rolls well and Rutt's doesn't disappoint. I can

Back again in the area so we had to stop in. We had a couple of Royales (top hint - if you are not super hungry, order your Royale as a Junior - a few dollars cheaper and a whole lot easier to take down), I definitely recommend the fried rice version of the Royale. I had the Portuguese Sausage Royale - maybe I am not much of an expert on this, but I really love the taste and texture of the Portuguese Sausage. Tucked away quite a bit from main streets, and didn't disappoint!
Food: My girlfriend got the mix plate and I got the fried rice. Both dishes were huge! We had to take portions home. Star of both dishes happened to be the macaroni salad. The rest of the food we just a-ok. Nothing really special.
Service: Service was pretty good for a weekday evening. They were moderately busy with a small dining area and street parking. But despite that, the server was tentative. Seemed like there was only two people working but they were very nice.

This place is SOOOOOO good. my go to for Hawaiian food in LA, forget Ono and L & L's, Rutts has my stamp of approval. I always get the Hawaiian royal with extra veggies and fried rice... always tastes good whenever I order it. Their French toast is tasty as well. The service is fast and I feel like I've never had to wait too long for my food... portions can be big so try and get a variety of things and share haha. I'll be back!

A local statement once only a small cafe on a busy street, Rutts has rose to fame in Culver City! This is the type of place where if you go often enough you'll catch your local celebrity (hey jhene aiko!) but they will also remember your name & order.
My go to is the Portuguese sausage royal - junior. Their sizes are plentiful. If I'm hungover, I'll order a regular. Some for now and some for later.

Portions are very generous! There's great outdoor patio and heated/covered outdoor seating options. There's definitely the laid back mahalo vibes here which I loved!
Loco moco - the macaroni salad was really good! The gravy was on the lighter side but the sausage patty was soft.
Combo plate - Kal-Bi and Katsu Chicken, both very delicious! The house teriyaki was very good as well.
Kailua pork breakfast burrito - The burrito was stuffed with pork, eggs, cheese, and hashbrowns. Was a great breakfast starter and perfect with hot sauce.

Man my household comes here all the time. BIG Rutts fans. Want a burger? They got it. Want a taco? They've also got that. Want some Hawaiian food? Check. Wanna cover something in gravy? Sure. Add pineapple to anything? Well, you get the point.
It's eclectic. It's solid. It's damn good slightly greasy Hawaiian food. They've got a rewards program if you become a loyalist like my household that eventually gets you free things. The German man that works there and I think owns the place- such a gentlemen.
I will say I've tried at least half their menu and I still go

We ordered online for pick up. Our food wasn't ready when we arrived, but it was only a short wait. The staff were all very nice. We ordered a side of max salad and a large Hawaiian Royale.
IT WAS HUGE. It had eggs, bean sprouts, meat, over a large bed a rice. It was a little bland, but nothing a little soy sauce can't fix. It also came with a Hawaiian roll.
The food was definitely comfort food and left me in a food coma.
