My hope is to provide you with enough information for you to get a sense of whether or not you would like to talk with me about pursuing therapy or supervision/consultation. I have close to 30 years of experience in private practice. I am trained as a psychoanalyst and offer psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.
Psychoanalysis has evolved in recent decades and if you're new to the idea, it may not be what you imagine. I do have a couch but I am rarely silent and I don't smoke a cigar. Essentially, what makes psychoanalytic psychotherapy distinct from other modes of therapy is the focus of change - primarily within the individual rather than with his/her/their circumstances.

Services
My approach is rooted in psychoanalytic principles. I listen with attention to both what you say and how you relate to yourself and me. I will explore with you your patterns of thought, emotions and behavior, in order to give expression, understanding and the awareness to the patterns. We may also gain understanding through considering your dreams (both night and day dreams), and other imaginative expressions that arise within the process.
I offer group and Individual supervision for counselors, social workers, and psychotherapists who are working toward their Washington State licensure requirements. I also offer consultation for practicing psychotherapists who wish to deepen their technical capacities to work psychodynamically.
Practicing dynamic psychotherapy demands quite a lot from the psychotherapist in terms of your ability to engage in an emotionally authentic and intelligent manner with your patient. Our theory gives us a map which allows us some orientation in the often confusing and uncertain terrain of therapeutic investigation.

Unless there is a prior arrangement, full payment is required to be paid monthly. I will provide you with a financial statement at the beginning of each month for the prior month's session. I do not bill insurance companies directly but on the monthly statement I will provide the necessary diagnostic and procedural codes for you to submit.
