Enjoy country hospitality and experience a little bit of peace and solitude at our Puchta family Guesthaus or Cabin. Founded in 1855, the Adam Puchta Winery is the oldest, continuously owned family winery in the United States. Ownership has been in the hands of the Puchta family without interruption for 7 generations since 1855.
It began with a boat ride, a cattle drive, gold mining and a long walk. Adam immigrated to the United States in 1839 with his parents and brothers and sisters. His father, John Henry Puchta, a Bavarian winemaker and butcher, settled his family in the Frene Creek Valley where land was purchased for growing grapes.

Services
Our goal at Adam Puchta Winery is to create good, consistent, user friendly, balanced wines that you as a customer can enjoy! Wine in reality, is inanimate, but in wine culture, it becomes a living, breathing experience! Throughout the years my father, Randy, and myself were growing up, we were always exposed to a culture of wine.

It's hands down our favorite winery in Hermann. Do I even need to explain?
First of all, a huge parking lot. A lot of the wineries don't have this luxury.
Second, it's an affordable tasting. And they're pretty giving with them.
Thirdly, there's a spot for EVERYONE to sit.
Fourth, THEY HAVE FOOD. Good food.
And lastly, my seller, clean bathrooms.
Go here.

This used to be my favorite Hermann winery, but if you don't like sweet wines don't come here in October anymore. They used to offer the opportunity to taste just their dry wines, which always resulted in my purchasing a bottle and some snacks and spending some time enjoying their grounds - but no more.

Giving two stars because at least the wine was nice. The lady in the tasting room was extremely rude to my disabled father. I understand many people come through intoxicated, but that isn’t an assumption or judgement any person working in the field of customer service should make. My father has multiple sclerosis and struggles with walking and often misplaces his words. Instead of being accommodating, the server in the tasting room told us that we needed to “eat some carbohydrates to soak up all that excess alcohol before doing our tasting.” This was our first stop of the day and that comment

This was our first wine tasting experience and Larry made it unforgettable. He was so much fun and very helpful. We also learned alot about the history of the winery and Hermann in general. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary! The winery is beautiful, prices are decent, and I got some lovins from a kitty laying around. 😍

We almost missed this winery due to rain and flooding of the road. Thankfully we had a ride and was able to go back. We were able to do a wine tasting with a worker who was very knowledgeable and interesting to talk with. There are so many wines to choose from, some where a bit sweet for me, but there are many more I did not try! There are also sweet cats that roamed the winery.

I seriously hate doing this! I love the wine! Love it! However we decided to eat their today and that was a HUGE mistake!! We got a pepperoni and bacon pizza, seems really hard to mess up....right?
Well we got it and first off they put cheddar cheese on pizza... who does that?!
Then we go to get a piece and the toppings all fall off and the crust is under cooked. We were unable to get any help as everyone was to busy.
Drink the wine, NEVER eat here... trust me!

TL:DR - Great place if you're looking to just drink wine and party. But the wine itself is pretty basic with no real stand outs. There's also zero measures taken to reduce the spread of covid outside of doing wine tastings outside and their wines are $5-$7 cheaper if you buy from the local save-a-lot.
--------------------------------------
Wines we're fine, nothing really stood out as particularly good. To be honest, wine preferences will vary from person to person, so maybe you like wines I don't and vice versa. So really what it comes down to is the ambiance and other attributes

One of the best in Hermann. They had an awesome wine tasting for just $5. The wine slushies were fun, Carmel apple seasonal. Lines were a little long, but not shocked for a beautiful 60 degree day in November. The view wasn't my favorite but the wine quality was unmatched compared to others in the area.

This is my wife's favorite of the wineries around hermann Missouri. The staff are excellent at what they do and are very helpful with everything. The owners are still actively out there day to day behind the counters and helping people with purchases and the like. I was told that this is the oldest winery in the nation with the original family fully involved, we are talking like the sixth and seventh generations I think.

This place is wonderful!! My husband and I stopped here for the first time for our anniversary and were very impressed. It's a small little shop built in the 1850's, and that's definitely part of its charm.
We arrived right before a big trolley full of wine tasters stopped in, so be prepared for a crowd. The service was wonderful and the lady supplying our tasting was very knowledgeable about the wine and the Puchta Daniel in general. We really enjoyed the Hunter's Red and Cat's Meow. She even gave us an taste of their Sherry since it was our anniversary- so good!!
