Home maintenance inspections - Performed roughly every 5 years to catch owners up on the state of their house and needed repairs. All houses are different, some age like a fine wine, others turn to vinegar. Your Brightside inspector will provide you with the information you need to understand your situation.

Radon is a radioactive gas. It is everywhere, even in outdoor air, but it is found in high levels in many homes in Central New York. Radon tests are often performed during Syracuse home inspections. At Brightside we use electronic radon testing equipment (Continuous Radon Monitor, aka CRM) and are a NY state licensed radon laboratory.
Since a significant portion of a home is hidden behind walls and ceilings there are obvious limitations to a standard home inspection. An infrared camera (or thermal camera) is not x-ray vision, so it doesn't see though walls, but it does see hot and cold spots on walls (and other surfaces) by recognizing slight temperature variations.

I needed a home inspection done with a pretty quick turnaround time. My friend in the business wasn't able to get to me in time, so I had to look elsewhere. I heard a few people recommend Brightside Home Inspections and I saw the website and all of the five star reviews so I figured I would give it a shot.. Scott did not disappoint! He was thorough beyond my expectations and took his time explaining things and recommending things for me that I don't feel many other people would have taken the time to do. Prices are fair and you definitely get what you pay for + some. Thank you Scott!

We contacted Scott at Brightside via his website after needing an inspector last minute for a home purchase in this crazy climate. Scott’s website was detailed and well put together and allowed my wife and I to understand the inspection part of home buying process with ease. He was really easily reached via text and when it came to the inspection process itself. This person put faith in me that my possible future home was thoroughly inspected and he explained every step of the process with us there inspecting with him. Scott was exceptional. Attended the inspection within 24 hrs and had the report with me within 24hrs from there. Extremely comprehensive report covering a range of areas I’d not spotted despite a number of viewings. Good detail and a very rationale view of the work required and impact of the issue to the property. He was very responsive in follow up and very willing to engage to discuss the outcome and causes for issues identified. The property unfortunately fell through, I’m about to use Britghtside again now - 100% recommend.

The house-buying process in 2021 is a difficult one, but Scott with Brightside Home Inspections makes the inspection process as easy as possible for you. We have used Scott for two inspections and paid extra for the thermal imaging with both. Scott fit us in on short notice to meet our inspection windows. His report is thorough but easy to understand. We received both reports promptly after the inspections were completed. We are moving from out-of-state, so communication is key when you cannot always be there in person. I've used several inspectors in the area and Brightside stands out. Scott was very prompt and accommodating with scheduling a time to perform the inspection that fit my schedule. His price is very fair and he delivers outstanding value for his price.

Scott was super professional, personable, and was very detail oriented throughout his inspection. When we were looking for home inspectors I don’t we were hoping for honesty and that is exactly what we have.
