It took two years of renovations, and a lifetime of savings to start the bakery. At the start, business was slow, while the owners, Allan and Diane Kupelnick, built their reputation for quality products. It took about two years before things really got going, and although they thought of producing donuts, decided to focus on bagels instead.
Lots of different bagels, all hand-made, all of the time. They also produced breads, birthday cakes, and pastries, but their emphasis was always on bagels and being Kosher. After many years, the owners decided to sell the business to the family of their long time employee and then manager of the store.

If you are craving New York Bagels...
THE FOOD
I ordered one of their favorite bagels "Lechmere" with onion bagel. It tastes better than I expected maybe because I was coming in with low expectations. The only downside is pretty expensive when you want to add things. I like the lox is missing that capers but it was just expensive adding that alone so I didn't feel like it.
They have lots of different bagels as well on-site that you can buy
I also ordered their chocolate danish. It was good. I love the number of choc chips. When you have a bite, you can taste choc but also like

Food is quite good but I would caution to never order delivery! Kupel’s gave our delivery driver the wrong order and hung up on us when we called them to make sure the right order was still there. Rude for sure—also very unfair to the driver who was driving to return to Kupel’s to pick up the correct order.

Outstanding bagels and friendly staff - people behind me in line compared it to Essabagel in NYC and I have to agree. Egg bagels are spot on. I got the Back Bay on an egg bagel, half moon cookie, and a raspberry cheese pastry. I was thoroughly pleased with it all. Black coffee was perfect. They also sell day old bagels/pastries for cheap. ($5.99 for a bakers dozen)

A mom-and-pop neighborhood bakery, with solid bagels. They do a bagel like no other. Best I've had. Perfecly crispy on the outside, not tough, and like light like bread on the inside. I recommend getting a bagel sandwiche, and a sleeve to-go.
No preservatives in the bagels so make sure to put in the fridge right away!

Ordered 3 sandwiches and a bakers dozen bagels... One of the three sandwiches in my order is completely wrong (wrong bagel, wrong ingredients, none of the extra ingredients I added on and paid for were included and was not toasted) AND they only gave me 10 bagels not 13... Employees do not seem to be paying attention to the online orders at all....
Also, feel free to bring your sick, coughing, maskless children, strollers and all in to this tiny little 250sqft bakery! The owners and management do not seem to care about the local mandates or their occupancy capacity. Being in this place felt like

There is a certain joy in eating from a place that has lines running out the door. I suggest reading the menu options on their website or on your phone before you get to the counter... else you will feel rushed while placing the order, with people waiting behind you. Many choices for various other baked goodies, besides bagels, cream cheeses, and breakfast sandwiches.

I ordered in store during a busy morning (many online orders) and waited 25 minutes for four untoasted bagels with spreads. The order was wrong and the one with whitefish had such an unusually insignificant amount of spread that eater had to open the whole bagel to try to determine if they had forgotten it altogether. Very disappointing as this used to be a favorite for our family.

I absolutely love this place! I have been going here for almost ten years now. I started stopping in as a broke college student on my way to school or work in the mornings. My go to- Back Bay sandwich on an onion bagel. After many orders and years later, I still bring family and friends whenever they visit Boston! I bring home a bakers dozen for holidays! You can't go wrong with any of the fresh pastries and breads- my favorite is the raspberry bear claw or chocolate danish! I promise it is worth the wait when you hit the lines on the weekend mornings. They also offer delivery on Grubhub now

I wish I could give a glowing review. I can't. Despite it saying it's kosher, it's not states ANYWHERE that the dairy isn't dairy - it's TOFUTTI. Gross. That stuff is disgusting. My so-called "cheese"'danish and "chocolate" rugalach almost made me vomit. Please please make it noticeable that their danish are disgusting non-dairy substitutes.

Need a place to get amazing bagels in Boston? Go to Kupel's!
Went here a little after 10 am thinking majority of the bagels would be gone and I was so happy that was not the case. This place was packed with endless bagel options, items in the bakery, and drinks. It took about fifteen minutes for the order to finish so expect to wait, but it's so worth it.
The bagels were perfect and they did not hold back on the toppings at all. The hamastachen were so good and so was the cold brew.
I can't wait to go again and try more from the menu.

I went to an event that served a bunch of bagels from Kupel's. Being from New Jersey, I've been trying to find a local bagel shop and I'm very particular with my bagels. For Boston standards, this place is pretty solid. The inside was fluffy, but it was a bit hard to bite through the whole bagel once there was lox in between the halves. I had an everything bagel, which was nicely seasoned. There was an interesting spice on there that I couldn't identify, but it gave it a nice flavor.

What beautiful bagel sandwiches! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was a bit of a line. The menu is long, with bagel sandwiches prices varying from $3 to $15, depending on what you want on it. The sandwiches are named after subway stops in Boston, which is a fun choice. There is a lot of variety, from the bagel type to the cream cheese. The bagels themselves are soft and doughy. Fair warning, if you order either of the things we got, you will have dragons breath afterwards. But it's worth it!!

Doughy everything bagel that was really just oats, poppy and sesame seeds on the outside (wheres the garlic and onion?) and I think I got plain cream cheese on it even though the prudential is supposed to have garlic. Good amount of spread and toppings in the sandwich. My partner got lox on his and there was a good amount on it.

As a native New Yorker, I was skeptical when I first read about Kupel's. However, it was recommended to me by another native New Yorker who lived in the Brookline area, so I trusted her opinion.
Well, I was not disappointed! Kupel's bagels are pretty dang good and I'm not ashamed to admit it. We had ordered a half dozen for the 4 of us, so we had leftovers the next day. They were still nice and soft!
We ordered online for pick up and our order was ready in 30 minutes. Pick up was easy and I was able to buy some more cream cheese on the spot without a line. It was July 4th, so

I had heard so much about the bagels at this place and decided to check them out on a Saturday morning. The place had a huge line up outside but after inquiry, I quickly learned that you order inside and then wait for your order outside.
Inside, the line moved quickly. It was a little difficult to follow how to order and when I got to the cashier, I had no idea what to order. Thankfully I had read earlier about the Lox cream cheese so decided to order a bagel with Lox.
They also have day old bagels and you can get a bunch for $5.99 and a second bag for free! I picked up a bag of poppyseed bagels

Must-try: Brookline Bagel
If you are looking for a good bagel these ones are exceptional, maybe the best in Boston. The picture shows a Bagel Board I made for brunch - I only got the bagels from Kupel, they don't actually sell the rest there - but the bagels were perfect. Good size, a good level of chewiness, nice flavor for any type of bagel. I've also tried their bagel sandwiches which I totally recommend - lox is my favorite so I tried the "Brookline Bagel" and it's amazing. They don

I ordered Kupel's Bakery through uber eats, so I'm only reviewing the food. I ordered two varieties of bagels, a Homentashen, two challah rolls, and the marble rye bread. Overall, it was all fairly good. I was a bit disappointed with the amount of filling that came in the apple Homentashen, but the real star was the marble rye bread. It's relatively cheap and it comes uncut leaving the portion sizes up to you. The bread also keeps incredibly well in the fridge. As for the bagels, one Kupel bagel is about the size of two normal bagels.
