As a NJ State licensed Home Inspector, I adhere to a comprehensive Standards of Practice set forth by the NJ Home Inspector Advisory Committee. According to the NJ Standards of Practice, I will inspect all of the following when visible and readily accessible, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon with the client.
Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of naturally occurring uranium in soil and rock. It is invisible, odorless and tasteless, and can only be detected by specialized tests. Radon enters homes through openings that are in contact with soil, such as cracks in foundation walls and floors, foundation wall penetrations below grade, and sump pits.
For an additional charge, the home will be inspected for evidence of termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and reinfesting wood boring beetles. These insects can cause serious damage to the home's wooden structure, drywall, and other components. A separate NPMA-33 will be issued to alert the client to any observed wood destroying insect activity, and to recommend appropriate action.
The pricing of a quality NJ home inspection is a fraction of the cost of your new investment.
