Overlooking Herndon's original Town Green, the Funeral Home holds a prominent place in Herndon's history.
Thomas Edgar Reed founded the town's first funeral home in 1885. In 1919, his son, Ed Reed took over the business operations and built the current building in 1920. J. Berkley Green bought the business in 1954 and expanded the building to include a chapel and a full second floor.

No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.

Very Poor in answering basic questions, you run a business that deals with people in a distraught state the least you can do is be nice. Scott was very Rude and acted childish at my time of crisis more concerned about the money than our needs. I would not give them my business and neither should you..

My father recently passed away, and I selected Adams Green. I spoke with Chris and he was reassuring and compassionate. I went in very nervous as I'm from NY and that's where my Father was going to be buried. They handled everything from start to finish including driving my father's casket to the national cemetery out on Long Island in NY. Thank you to John for doing all the driving. They made a very difficult time easier for me. Due to Covid19 restrictions at the time this occurred we couldn't be in NY for more than 24 hours. It was a very long emotional day for us and thanks

I made appointments with three funeral homes to discuss funeral services for my daughter. When I called to cancel the Adams-Green appointment (we wanted a place closer to Richmond) Adams-Green informed me that they had already taken possession of my daughter's remains, without my authorization, and there would be a $480 charge for their time and trouble if I chose to use another funeral home.
It was insensitive, illegal, and disgusting. At least the hospital stepped up and took responsibility for their part in the debacle. I cannot say the same about Adams-Green.

Dealing with the death of a family member is challenging at any time. Add in the pandemic and everything is 10X more challenging. Thankfully, I found Adam's-Green. The staff (especially Scott) were kind, compassionate, and extremely organized and knowledgeable. There was zero pressure to up-sell anything. I was able to fill out and electronically authorize all the needed documents for the cremation. I cannot adequately express my appreciation for their professionalism.

As a minister/hospice chaplain, I have officiated many memorial services & interments for Adams-Green over the past 15 years and have always been impressed with the high level of compassionate professionalism they display to everyone they serve. This was brought home for me on a very personal level when my own mother died in late March 2020. The… dignity, respect, caring, and attention to detail which I personally received from Chris Adams & his staff is something I will always be grateful for. Hillary and the staff at Adams-Green were wonderful and very helpful both before and after my mother passed away. Because my mother died in a different state from where she wanted to be buried (Herndon), I wanted to understand the logistics ahead of time. Hillary explained everything that would need to happen in detail, and helped me understand what I could plan for in advance to make things easier when the time came to engage their services. She helped me find an out of state funeral home and worked with them to make everything as seamless as possible. They handled transportation, flowers

Bill and staff were sympathetic and professional throughout the viewing, funeral, and burial process. They helped make the arrangements simple, and handled all the big details so I didn't have to. Its never easy for those left behind when a loved one passes away. My first experience was a couple of years ago when my brother in law passed away they were terrific to deal with in coordinating the logistics of things as he was buried in a family plot out of state. They don't pressure you into buying stuff that isn't needed either which put my mind at ease. We used them again when my mother passed away, and still great service provided by all of the staff there. Its a locally owned business and has been in Herndon for many generations its smack in the middle of downtown Herndon

Our family called on Adams-Green when our mom passed. Although it wasn't the most economical in town, it couldn't have been more lovely as far as these things go. I will never forget Chad. He was so very kind to my sister and me. It was genuine. He never pushed us into anything. He presented all options. The location itself is very special. It is very calming. I am very happy we went with Adams-Green. I recommend them, and especially Chad, if you ever need them.

Chad and staff were fantastic. During a tough time, we needed the professionalism and follow-through that Adams-Green offered; and, from our first meeting with Chad, we walked away feeling that we would be well taken care of -- and we were. Chad was very responsive, respectful, and covered all of the details. He was great before, during, and after the visitation, and he provided a very personal touch. Our family was very, very pleased.

When my daughter unexpectedly passed in Dec. 2013, Adams-Green was the place I chose to use after having previous experiences with their services. I passed 5 other funeral homes which were closer to where I live in order to use this funeral home. They are an exceptional funeral home with outstanding people, from the ownership all the way down to the secretary. Very personable, helpful, understanding, and sympathetic. They really went the extra mile with us and Jacob, our funeral director, was amazing.
