The Sunset Inn
The quiet comfort of our Sunset Beach Hotel overlooks the marsh out towards the Intracoastal Waterway and is just a five minute walk to the ocean. Our picturesque island has a temperate climate without the brutal extremes of summer or winter. The Sunset Inn is the place to stay on Sunset Beach! The Inn is much larger than your typical historic B&B but has the charm and quaintness of our smaller counterparts.

We are unique and encourage you to visit and experience all that we have to offer. We have complimentary WiFi in all rooms. Want a book or movie? Our lobby/breakfast area has great books to choose from and a nice DVD selection. Our lobby is open until around 6:00 pm in the evenings depending on the time of year and 4:30 pm on Sundays.

On the island of Sunset Beach, NC, the marsh front setting of The Sunset Inn offers splendid views of salt-water life from each of the uniquely decorated ten guest rooms and four grand rooms. Unwind and relax in the privacy of your own screened porch enjoying the marsh views in a perfectly positioned rocking chair, or enjoy the ocean breeze from one of the expansive front porches at our Sunset Beach Guest House.
Please read what our guests are saying about The Sunset Inn Bed & Breakfast on Sunset Beach NC. Clean, quiet and peaceful. Every small detail attended to - we'll be back. Sarah and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was just the getaway we needed. Thank you so much for everything! We love the Inn, atmosphere and location.
Please keep in mind that computer generated searches often put the Inn on the wrong side of the island. After crossing the bridge to come onto the island, we are the first building on the left. You have to take the first left on North Shore Drive then our Sunset Beach Inn is immediately on the left.
The Hatteras Room was named for the most popular North Carolina lighthouse, The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which was saved by relocation in 1999, inspired the room's coastal blue walls with black & white accents and little touches of red. This 2nd level grand room offers spectacular views of the marsh & sunsets from the corner private screened porch while rocking or swinging your cares away.

Cynthia and Debbie are amazing! Best customer service ever. This was my 3rd time staying and it just gets better. The rooms, views and location are great. It’s so peaceful, even when the inn is booked solid. Love the breakfast, far better than what I was offered at 2 hotel chains during the pandemic. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Just a relaxing lovely place. Very quiet, beautiful views overlooking the inter-coastal waterway- salt marshes, beautiful birds to watch and even a tiny deer walked up by my porch one afternoon when I was sitting out relaxing. Easy walk to the beach. The beach was not at all crowded and as you walk towards the Bird Island nature preserve it’s very peaceful and beautiful. It’s about a 3 miles each way walk to the Kindred Spirit mailbox which I did spend a morning doing. (There is a parking area you can drive to, much closer and shorter walk)
The rooms are beautiful. The bed is comfortable.

We really loved our stay at the Sunset Inn! Great location close to the beach, and just a short drive to restaurants etc.
The room itself was clean and gorgeous. Great view of the tidal flats from the screened porch, and a surprisingly well-appointed breakfast just across the hall.
We'll be back!

Spent a long weekend here for our anniversary over July 4th and had a great stay. Our room was very clean upon arrival. The stall type shower was pretty small, especially for my 6’4” husband. The inn’s… location is in a convenient, walkable distance to the beach. Really liked the locked storage unit to stash our beach gear from day to day. Breakfasts are still limited due to Covid, but the grab & go selections were nice, plus there was also cereal and one hot food item each morning. We would definitely stay here again when traveling to Sunset Beach!

We could not have asked for a better vacation. The Sunset Inn staff are all so friendly and accommodating. You truly do feel like you’re at home. This quiet, relaxing B & B will not only meet your expectations, but will far exceed them! The rooms are gorgeous and give and excellent show at sunset! The Inn is with in a 5-7 minute walking distance of the pier/beach. If you’re looking for a romantic get away with your spouse or just some R&R for yourself, you can definitely find that at The Sunset Inn! Thank you, Andrea & staff, for being such gracious hosts! Sunset Beach is a delightful beachtown in North Carolina that is always a fun place to visit. We stayed at the Sunset Inn in June 2020, mid-Covid. The inn took Covid precautions seriously and we were told where to park and that we'd be picking up our key directly from our room, the front lobby was locked off. We were in the Smithville Room which is on the 1st floor. The shade of blue selected for the walls may be the most serene color I've ever seen.

Every room in the inn overlooks the marsh and has it's own screened in porch and rocking chairs. Before dinner, a deer quietly

We so enjoyed our three night stay here. The location is great, and the inn is so sweet. The restrictions during the coronavirus certainly made a difference in the overall experience but the staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend the Sunset Inn. We will be back!

Amazing, beautiful bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed here when we got married. We were running slightly late from Raleigh, so I called and let them know we were on our way. I mentioned we were getting married the next day, so we would definitely be there. The wonderful manager put a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room as a congratulations. The breakfast was great, room was large (Scotch Bonnet) and very clean. Also, another plus? FANTASTIC WATER PRESSURE IN THE SHOWER. Large screened back porch as well. We plan on coming back!

I would give this inn 6 stars if yelp would allow me.

My girl and I had one of the best experiences of our life when staying here. First off, the location is fantastic. The inn is located on a coastal marsh within walking distance from the beach. We stayed in the Hatteras room. We had a very large, private screened in porch facing the marsh. During the day, we were able to sit and watch the diverse wildlife from birds to deer. At night, the marsh came alive with all sorts of sounds.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. From booking the room all the way till the end of our

Our two-day visit to Sunset Beach was excellent. The Inn was very comfortable. Our third floor room was tastefully decorated and gave a real "beach" feel. The screen porch offered beautiful views of the marsh and evening sunsets. The beach, a short walk from the Inn is clean and perfect for long walks. The Inn staff is friendly and helpful. Their DVD library offers a good selection of movies for room viewing. We had planned a fun 4hr kayak trip, but sadly the weather turned cold and windy. The Inn had no issue with our cancelling the trip and promptly refunded the

My husband and I stayed here for the long Valentines weekend. We stayed in the Charleston room. It was clean and cute and even had its own screened in porch with rocking chairs overlooking the inlet. The staff was so friendly and had even baked some Valentines treats, got some chocolates and a mini bottle of champagne and placed them in our room for our weekend. Very nice touch. Walking distance to the beach and there are quiet a few local restaurants to try within a short drive. We also went down to Myrtle Beach, it was a short drive and fun day trip. Highly recommend to anyone looking for

From the moment I called to make my reservation to the moment we checked out of our room the service was overwhelmingly superior! The staff was personable and caring. Returned here this past summer for a couple nights in the Bird Island Room. The addition of HDTVs in the rooms is a big plus. My wife and I love The Sunset Inn.

Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene forced us to cut short our stay...but on the plus side, it only means we have an excuse to come back next year and stay longer! ;)
