Services
Before Boulangerie, Kennebunk did not have a bakery. That is, Kennebunk did not have a proper bakery. There are plenty of lovely bakeshops and cake shops and bagel shops in town, but no proper bakeries. A place where bread is mixed and proofed for hours, and baked in the dark of morning, sending warm yeasty aromas wafting down the street as a harbinger of dawn.
Boulangerie opened in 2015 and is located in a historic red barn, located just steps off Kennebunk, Maine's Main Street. Since then, Boulangerie - A Proper Bakery has provided visitors and locals with a warm, friendly atmosphere accompanied by a delectable selection of pastries, baked goods, and breads.

Just moved to the state and this bakery stands out as really special! They have limited hours/days open due to staffing issues, like so many places these days, so if you're a baker who knows how to work some magic, please join their team so I can get my croissants more often! Also, I feel so much more comfortable going here than other businesses because they actually stick to and enforce their covid safety measures. They currently allow a maximum of 3 customers inside at a time and they MUST be masked. Everyone else lines up outside. I wish more businesses would do this! It makes it so much more

This is definitely one of my favorite hidden jewels of Kennebunk. The pasties are fresh, hot and HUGE . You have to get in early to grab your fav, but its worth it !!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to try this place on my morning commute and was disappointed. For the prices I expected better attention to detail and food preparation. This ham and cheese croissant had a giant lump of ham in one corner that I found very unappetizing. I also got a sandwich for lunch which was more redeeming. The bread was extremely good but by lunch time half the sandwich was soggy. The layout of the very limited space inside is confusing and the staff were flustered. I expected better customer service than I received. I'm going to stick with bistro up the street.

This is our first stop when we get into town -- the breads are like eating in Europe - the pastries are to die for. Everything is so fresh! There are no other bakeries around like this. Coffee is a must! Staff is friendly and kind. Worth any wait in line!

Aah, quiche! I love me some quiche, and this sweet spot nails it, flaky crust, puffy filling, buttery, but not oily. So good. Almond cookie with cold pressed coffee, perfect together.

At the conclusion of this review I will quit my job and start working for the boulangerie. They will pay me in baguettes and croissants.
This place is amazing. We spent 3 days on vacation and went here every morning. We tried the cheese plate, chicken salad sandwich, almond croissants, ham/cheese croissants, Danish and coffee cake (judge away....).
I will compare my future bakery experiences to this place. Do yourself a favor and pop in.

I love the coffee and the baked goods. Highly recommend the berry scones. Service is always friendly. Best mocha. Great chat. Oh, and the sandwiches on fresh baguettes... Incredible. Everything is much better than Mornings in Paris

Very pleasant service. Great selection of french pastries, breads, and other awesome looking treats.
We picked the chocolate croissant and cinimum roll, they we absolutely delicious. I warmed up the cinimum roll and it was the best I have had, lots of cinimum, sugar and frosting.
We will be back for sure to try other delights and some bread.

What a great bakery. Stopped by for breakfast before heading out for a hike nearby. Quiche was fantastic - light, fluffy, savory. The savory croissant of the day was also phenomenal with a perfectly flaky, crispy crust.
