Services
Bread and Roses Bakery began in 1989 in Ogunquit, Maine. We bake from scratch using good quality ingredients and time-tested recipes. We now work out of our commercial kitchen in Wells where we bake products that ship all over the country. Beginning in the spring of 2021, we will open our Bread and Roses Takeout at 614 Post Road in Wells, Maine.
I am most proud of the family of workers who make Bread and Roses Bakery great. We are looking for committed, hardworking people who are energetic, positive, goal-oriented, and have a passion for excellent pastries and coffee to join our team. We strive to create the perfect dessert for your enjoyment. Our birthday and specialty cakes have become a tradition for many families who return year after year. We will be happy to assist you in choosing a cake or dessert for a special occasion. We are passionate about baking and the importance of providing you with friendly service.
We make the filling for the pies in small batches on the stove; using only Maine blueberries, Maine apples, raspberries, and other fruits. Stirring with a wooden spoon and adding just enough sugar and cornstarch to hold everything together, three or more pounds of fruit go into each pie! Our pie dough is made with butter in order to create a rich and delicious flavor.
We make incredibly delicious cakes created from the finest available ingredients: Fresh cream, pure butter, Belgian chocolate. Our cakes are simple, yet rich and elegant. As taste is paramount, we do not use fondant, do intricate decorating and use as little food coloring as possible. We do decorate with fresh fruit, fresh flowers from your florist, and chocolate.

We contacted Bread and Roses this spring about our wedding cake and were interested in them because of their amazing prices and variety of flavors. We were immediately put in touch with Dee who worked with us to prepare a complimentary tasting box to choose our flavor. We went with the Erin’s Wedding Cake. I pre-ordered a birthday cake (chocolate with raspberry buttercream frosting) and a blueberry pie to pick up on our last day as we headed home. The cake was so moist with a deep chocolate flavor, it was perfection. The pie was just as scrumptious; not overly sweet, loaded with Maine blueberries and the flakiest crust. Pure Bliss! I love this place. But I do have one major complaint I'll explain at the end of this review. So the owner is excellent, makes the best coffee and is friendly. Almost every one there is fantastic. Today though I dealt with a rude and miserable girl for the first time ever there - she was a black female I don't know her name but my did she stand out from the rest with her attitude. She kept saying she couldn't do something again and again even though I've had it done before to my coffee. She complained saying the owner who did it should have told her about it then because it makes it harder for her

If you are looking for an authentic Maine bakery that serves fresh blueberry crumble, crumb cake, and pie you will not be disappointed if you try B+R. Carrot cake was decent but the blueberry cake was better.
Great coffee served in this small friendly bakery with so many tempting desserts we got several to sample at the beach and they were all good. Chocolate chip cookies are GIANT and were such a treat!

Bought a little too many goodies from here but I thought it was worth it. With covid, only 4 people are allowed inside at a time. I got the biggest chocolate chip cookie ever. It was literally the size of my head. I also got the raspberry oat bar, pumpkin whoopie pie, chocolate whoopie pie, and lemon tea cake.
