Cute little bakery/sandwich/coffee spot. We had gone to brunch across the street at the Bayou Kitchen and walked around the block before our long drive home. My husband wanted another coffee so we stopped into Big Sky. It smelled wonderful inside and we eyed a bunch of the breads they had for sale.

We just ordered one coffee to go and the cashier offered us a small sample of one of the few items they had in a tiny case at the register. What a cute idea! He gave us a small sample of a sticky bun which we nibbled on in the car. Delish! It's a very cute spot to pop into for a coffee, quick

Viva Italiano might be the best stand alone cold sandwich you can buy in Portland. These guys crush it!

This place has excellent prices, and a great vibe. I got their breakfast sandwich, I did enjoy the egg, bacon and especially the veggies in the sandwich. I appreciated the clearly fresh veggies cut in large rounds rather than diced.
Not a fan of the English muffins they use in the breakfast sandwiches and the wait for sandwiches is long.
Blueberry cheese pocket was lacking in flavor and I didn't get past two bites of the sticky bun for the same reason.
They are nice and the space is cute. It smells amazing when you walk in the door, I guess I just didn't choose whatever smelt so good

I love all their breads pastries . Great selection of breads . It's a great neighborhood bakery . The items come fresh out of the oven when you're shopping . The food is all natural . I recommend freezing one half of a loaf of bread unless you got a big family to serve . The bread also makes great french toast .

One of my favorite spots for an easy sandwich or soup and sandwich! I also recently had their greek salad with tuna salad on top and it perfectly hit the spot. Their BLT is a favorite of mine as well. The soups rotate in and out. A favorite soup of mine is the hungarian mushroom. You can get a half a sandwich and a soup to hit the spot. The cookies and cinnamon buns are TEMPTING! You can't go wrong with something from Big Sky Bread. This location is a beautiful old fire house and the smell of bread FILLS the entire location. It's a unique and comforting smell that I always enjoy when

It was OK I guess. Their door is messed up and the location is pretty inconvenient with nowhere to park. Coffee was brewed thin and the sandwich was pretty underwhelming. But the people were friendly and the inside was nice. Bread offerings seem good. Has potential, just isn't hitting it as of this review.

We visit this bakery anytime we get to Portland Maine.
This trip was made in January specifically for Poppers and English muffin bread. Even in the dead of winter traveling from Northern Vermont it's always worth the drive.

Don't waste your time or money. The food quality is reasonable. Prices not as bad as other locations. The manager told me I was disrepectful to her staff when I went back to return the incorrect soup (and kindly told herthat my sandwich was a wrong too.) I asked for a cookie instrad of a refund and she told me to go away.
This was after standing in line waiting for 10 minutes watching the cook move slower than you van imagine. The cashier waa fantastic.
Really surprised and still in shock.

After asking if their bread was dairy free they said they didn’t know so I had to look at the ingredients for myself to see. Noticed the loaf was dairy free so I then ordered a turkey club, on their menu no where did it say cheese. Just turkey lettuce tomato and mayo! so I asked that the bread not be buttered due to milk allergy, they said they didn’t butter the bread- PERFECT! I ate half of my sandwich...started to feel sick so I saved the rest for later. Opened it later and noticed that under the turkey there was cheese. My vacation might just be ruined due to this 😞

They usually have a pretty big volume for such a small place most workers seem to work really hard but this one bigger guy who usually wears a bandana moves at a snail's pace everytime I order food there I hope he doesn't prepare it for me cuz he takes forever don't know how he still works there other than that great place to get food prices are good foods great

Ate breakfast there this morning. Egg sandwiches are excellent because the bread is outstanding. The scones were fabulous and the bagel was the real deal. I buy their bread at Hannaford's and like the honey whole wheat and the English muffin bread the best. Oh and the staff was very friendly and helpful. And the ambiance of an old fire station is fun.

Decided to stop in while on a conference call. When I get to the register I put my phone down to order when the person at the register rudely told me to go elsewhere with my phone. I know it's aggravating to serve people on the phone but this is a lunch spot not a bank and maybe some people come here to find a place to sit and work during the day. It's not what you say. It's how u say it!

I was torn between rating this spot four and five stars. They bill themselves as a bread company and in that I think they excel. There's all sorts of options to choose from and they're all wonderful. I've continued to come here for years if only for that.

Beyond the bread, however, things can be a little more hit or miss. Their chocolate chip cookies aren't really a style I enjoy, the lunch sandwiches are often good but not great. And as many other reviewers have said, the demeanor of the staff can sometimes be a little off putting compared to the typical bright friendly attitudes

Rude staff - like seriously- making faces behind customer's backs kind of rude. Witnessed this today and it made me sad people can be like that. The poor woman just wanted an order. And I've seen them snap at people before...? I keep trying, good location and the soups aren't bad, but after today I won't go back.

They have lost my business. I find their sandwiches over priced for what I receive, so I usually go upstairs for my lunch and as I am leaving grab a coffee as I head out the door. It's pretty decent coffee. Due to orders taking too long (at times it has taken over 20 minutes), I have taken to leaving the necessary funds at the register to pay for my coffee refill so 1) I can leave in a timely manner, and 2) they can ring up my order when they (finally) make it through their line of people. Today, the cashier let me know that if I "don't have time to wait in line, I don't have time for coffee."

Unbelievably delicious breads and pastries. Sandwiches are great, as are the soups. Great neighborhood feel, too. If you're not from the neighborhood it's worth the drive. In a cruise ship? Cruise over to Big Sky. Worth every bit! And inexpensive, too.

I go here every chance I get, but mostly when having work done at Merlin's. The staff is always friendly and upbeat, and the food is always amazing.

Coffee and a cinnamon roll with raisins and walnuts is the cure for almost anything, and the beautiful interior is a great place to read a book and pass the time.

I've also ordered rolls and pies for holidays, and everything is delicious, and the prices are too good to believe. Trust me, you'll love this place!

Not quite what I was expecting, its more of a sandwich shop that sells its bread as well. Its also tucked into a space with a few other food businesses so it's a little easy to miss, I walked past it my first time there.
That said, if you simply picking up bread products, its fresh, tasty and local.

Went in to order a breakfast sandwich real quick on my 15 minute break. 3 employees behind the counter looking down on their phones talking amongst each other sharing stories. 30 seconds goes by, employee finally takes my order. I go outside to wait and after a good 10 minutes I go back inside and their all still giggling amongst each other on their phones in a little group. Employee looks at me "like can I help you" when she then looks at the order and says "oh" realizes no one made the sandwich, like no big deal, like I'm not on a break or anything, like oh we can giggle and be on our phones

Food is good, service is terrible. There are better spots in the area to check out.

I waited 40 minutes for a sandwich (I was the only person in there!) and when I went to politely ask about my order they found that it had been sitting there for about 30 minutes getting cold. (I have heard from other pals that this is not an anomaly and has happened to them as well.) The kicker: absolutely no apology. Not even a little one. I then stated "I ordered this about 40 minutes ago to eat here." An uninvolved woman behind the counter yelled over: "Well, you can just eat it out of the tinfoil

I have stopped by Big Sky Bakery a couple of times for lunch and have found that both times have been a fantastic experience. The bakery is located in the Woodfords area of Portland just near the Dunkin Donuts in what appears like an old fire station. Parking is a challenge especially with all the construction that is in the area. As I left the last time I stopped by I noticed there was a parking lot behind the building. I am not sure if it is for Big Sky Bakery or not, but if it is, it would certainly make this place more accessable. This afternoons menu was filled with sandwiches and soups. Along

The five stars are for the best sticky bun I've ever had! Big Sky has two sites, one at the public market, and the one we ate at, where it looks like they do all of their baking. Really nice store, lots of variety, and a table for kids to play with real bread dough... what a cool invitation for kids to learn the joy of kneading! Really friendly service which explained all the options..

The choices for breakfast snacks are just about endless, I tried a sample of their cinnamon bun, and a cherry scone, and chose their sticky bun... It looks like just about any sticky bun, but the proportion
