La Serena is a wonderful complex. It's a smaller community, very quiet, and the support team is really, really good. Lyn and Adreanne (front office), and Ruben and John (maintenance), have literally responded within minutes of me submitting a ticket. In a couple of specific cases they went out of their way to help me above and beyond what I would ever have expected.
The newly remodeled units are comparable with the "luxury" apartments in the Highland Ranch school zone, and cost less. The resident parking spaces are covered and reserved, and are the largest spots I've seen anywhere else. Visitor

Have lived here for almost two years and intend to stay. My one bedroom unit is comfortable and spacious. The large patio and separate laundry room complete the ideal living space. The lovely grounds are continuously manicured by the landscape team. If a maintenance call is necessary, the response is prompt and professional. Highly recommended La Serena! I am now in my third year at La Serena and couldn’t be happier. Today, is the first time I had an emergency maintenance issue. My laundry room was flooded. We had been looking for a nice place for my dad for months and came across these beautiful apartments in Rancho Bernardo. Wanting the best for my dad after losing my mom, I had so many questions and Harlyn, the assistant manager was awesome and extremely helpful.
The unit is spacious and bright. The kitchen is large with stainless steel appliances. These apartments offer easy access to freeway and shopping. The staff do a remarkable job of keeping the community beautiful. The maintenance team is quick and efficient. The very few maintenance requests that he had, were handled immediately.

I emailed the assistant manager, Lyn, to schedule a viewing of their 2 bedroom 1 week prior. When I arrived she came to the door and talked to me through the glass (I had a mask on), she said they didn't have any 2 bedroom to view. When I confirmed I emailed her she asked me to prove it to her by showing her my phone. She then disappeared for 5 minutes, opened the door by 2 inches to hand me a paper. She said I am able to walk around the complex and view the outside but not go inside. Very unprofessional and I was very disappointed in her service especially seeing her title as assistant manager

I am a new tenant at La Serena and I couldn't be happier with my decision to move here. There wasn't a vacant unit to view during my timeframe so I made my decision based on the pictures on their website and the Yelp reviews. I will admit, I was a little apprehensive before I picked up the keys but now that I have been here a little over a week I know that I made the right choice. Our experience at La Serena has been outstanding. The complex is situated in a beautiful, quiet and safe location. The controlled access (gated) and convenient parking is a plus! Ground maintenance crews are on site consistently to ensure the outdoor area is neat and presentable. La Serena management and maintenance staff is incredibly friendly. Suggestions and issues are dealt with quickly and courteously. We frequent the pool, hot tub, tennis court, and workout facility; wonderful community amenities that most complexes do not offer. You will not find a better place in RB to call home!

Highly recommend! I am active duty military, and they worked with me to ensure everything went smoothly, and that I had what I needed. The area was lovely, about 30-45 min away wine country, and from 32nd street naval base, and about 25-30 min away from Point Loma naval base. Area was very quiet and calm and the view was amazing! It's a tad bit on the expensive side, but if your willing to pay, you definitely get what you pay for.

I have lived at La Serena over four years now, and I recently transitioned into one of the newly renovated apartments. I love it! I have always loved how spacious the apartment is (2 walk-in closets, eat in kitchen, etc.), but the renovations they have done are excellent too! The kitchen is awesome! And any time I have put in a maintenance request, it has been taken care of in a very timely manner! The property is beautiful and well-maintained! I highly recommend La Serena Apartments!

The apartment is big and spacious but needs some maintenance. One of the Airbnb where I don’t see any plates or utensils for kitchen use. Bathrooms and toilets need some cleaning and maintenance. The heater was not functional, even if we kept at 90 it never had any effect inside and it was pretty cold the whole time. One of the sofas had a broken leg and it’s replaced with some wooden pieces. Parking is on road side and it’s usually finally packed and not easy to find a spot near the house.

The two women working in the front office, Adreanne who is the manager and Herlyn, her assistant, are the ones you will be dealing with when you move in here. Adreanne is a very serious person which is fine because she is not getting paid to be my friend. However I do not appreciate the racism and the discrimination that I experienced from her. Lived here while attending college. Great location in a quite community but easy access to downtown and the beach. As an avid golfer, I enjoyed the 6 or 7 courses within 10 minutes. Plus it's in the boundaries of city limits so I was able to play Torrey Pines at the resident rate (witch is the best deal I ever had). The staff was always friendly and very helpful. I enjoyed the fact the gym, grill, pool, and tennis courts were never busy. Always felt like our own amenities. The price was a tad high but for the peace and quiet that we enjoyed for three years of renting it was worth every penny.

Toured La Serena Apartments, which was one of my top 5 choices in the Rancho Bernardo area. The assistant manager Herlyn was pleasant to work with and very informative. She was able to answer all my questions without any hesitation. Although, the price was way out of my range I was very surprised by how well kept the property was and the material picked out for their newly renovated apartments. I will definitely recommend living here if you can afford their rates.

We have lived here for eight months and couldn't be happier. We love the interior of the apartment with the beautiful kitchen appliances and counter tops. The inside is roomy with good size rooms and the whole layout is very nice.
The one area that rates an excellent review is the office staff and maintenance. Adrianne and Herlyn are very nice to work with and they take care of any problem without hesitation. They get right on the issue by getting maintenance to the unit quickly or if necessary contact an outside source. The Customer Service tenants receive from those two ladies is outstanding

Love this place only issue I have here is there is a huge overwhelming smell of indian Curry in the air by the pool. Literally have to close doors to keep the smell out. Seems the apartment has no concerns about smell pollution. Seriously every single day! Ruins everything about this awesome complex.

Ant invasion every few months in kitchen & bath.
Rent increases have made it unaffordable.
Upstairs balcony floors are not sealed properly causing

I wanted to commend Herlyn in the office always being professional, courteous, and responsive to resident issues. She has exemplary customer service and is always a pleasant in her interactions with residents. I would also like to commend Gino the Maintenance Manager. Today, I came home to see that my water heater went out and my laundry room flooded. I reported the issue and within minutes Gino was at my door to repair the problem. He replaced the water heater and did an excellent job.

What I love about La Serena Apartments is the living space, pool & BBQ area, and convenience. Nearby are excellent schools and lots of shopping!
The assistant property manager was very helpful and kind. I found the complex neat, clean and well kept. What a great location and wonderful community to live!

Horrible place to live! We noticed leaches,snail,rats,roaches,spiders,ants - almost all kind of pests. Couldn't control through their pest treatment.
The management tries to squeeze money out of you wherever they can. When I vacated, they charged for entire carpet which costed me almost a month rent.
Poor construction- you can even hear if your neighbor flushes his toilet.
Stay out of this place!!
