Services
Some problems are simply part of growing up, while others may be the result of troubling or traumatic experiences. Parents are often confused by their child's behavior and not sure where to turn for help. That's why we're here. Our goal is for every child and family in Clark County to have access to mental health services.
Mental illness is shockingly common, affecting almost every American family - directly or indirectly. It can strike someone of any background. It can strike at any stage of life - from childhood to old age. No community is unaffected, no school or workplace untouched. Mental illness in America is more common than cancer, diabetes, or even heart disease.
Our school-based mental health program was born out of the desire to provide access. School-based programs alleviate the strain on caregivers to arrange transportation to and from appointments - while serving kids in an environment they know and are familiar with. Mental health services are available on-site at selected schools in the Battle Ground, Evergreen, La Center and Vancouver School Districts.
Specialized treatment to address the effects of the emotional and psychological trauma experienced by a child and family. One in four girls and one in six boys under the age of 18 have been victims of sexual abuse. Child sexual abuse crosses ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic boundaries. It happens to children in every kind of family, neighborhood, and community.
Specialized treatment and training program for preschool and school-aged youth affected by methamphetamine. The explosive crisis in methamphetamine addiction and production is directly impacting children. It is producing an ever-increasing number of children needing specialized health, mental health, and educational services.

Very rigid policies. We didn't feel they are willing to work with families in any aspect. When Covid-19 pandemic hit, they completely shut down their offices and didn't contact patients for over a month. They didn't communicate cancelation of appointments. When finally contacted we were given the option of video sessions (for a 7 yr old with attention issues) or closing our case! We were told we were welcome to start over FROM INTAKE. I asked if we could simply suspend until offices were open again and was was told no that we would have to start the entire process over, which took months to even

My 5yo child has been going here for over 6 months. His therapist is good, we have seen great improvement with him. He loves seeing her. The home care, Connie Richardson, is condescending and said if my son is acting up to send to his room and if he is not present for the appointment it's fine. She also atempted to pass the buck when we asked her what her plans to help our son were by saying to see OT. We discontinued services with her when she said they couldn't diagnose our son.

My son had a great therapist and just because we moved to cowlitz county they dropped us while I was in the process of switching him! The lady was rude and this kid has had enough changes also he doesnt do well with changes! These people were often rude but now they are just plain rude and inconsiderate!

My family sees Sarah and Connie. They have made the world of difference in our home. We started blending a family of 7 this year, yours mine and ours situation. We were in uncharted territory. These two amazing women are helping us navigate all the different emotions our 3 boys have. Because of them I truly believe our family has grown closer.

For the most part we are pretty happy with The Children's Center. We really like the therapist my son has. The front office staff could be more personable and friendly. But they aren't horrible either. We have had issues of them stating they called regarding needing to cancel appointments and we never received the phone calls or had a voicemail.
My biggest frustration was that my son left on a mandatory court ordered visit out of state for the majority of the summer. Our only options were to close his file, and reopen it later, (filling out the very extensive paperwork and having him in a new

The therapists and psychiatrists are amazing and very supportive. Very professional! The office staff is difficult and challenging, most often rude. I cringe when I have to call and that's not how it should be. :(
