I am a Seattle therapist with over 28 years experience who offers compassionate, focused therapy for adults. I specialize in trauma resolution techniques called EMDR and Lifespan Integration that can gently and rapidly remove blocks to current progress that are related to past events. Some traumas clear in only one to three sessions.
I also use Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, which is helpful in treating depression and anxiety and leaves you with emotion management skills you can use for a lifetime. I have a profound belief that positive change is possible for everyone. Entering therapy means that you have decided to step onto the path towards change and start walking.

PTSD can have a significant impact on a person's life. It can cause tension and distance in relationships and a feeling of being haunted by the trauma experience, as well as very painful discomfort from symptoms like nightmares, bad memories and flashbacks. Not everyone who has experienced trauma will have PTSD.
Depression is not something you can get rid of by "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps." Unfortunately, it's more complex than that. Depression is a serious illness that can put a great strain on relationships and job performance. It can rob a person of a sense of joy and optimism. Depression can be triggered by a stressor such as unemployment, divorce or health issues or it can occur without any obvious cause.
Anxiety is a normal part of human experience. When we become anxious, our bodies respond physically to enable us to fight, run or freeze in place, all responses that, in the right circumstances, are necessary to survival. Unfortunately, those signals can go off when there's no actual present danger.
Chronic pain and/or Chronic Illness can occur at any stage of our lives, and the psychological consequences can be serious. While therapy can't cure an illness or stop physical pain, it can help us find ways to cope, to advocate for ourselves and can aid us in discovering ways to enhance our quality of life.
